I really hope the new MB's come soon. My 2007 MacBook is falling apart. Literally. Dying HD's, overheating processor, random shutdowns when too hot, dying battery, palmrest cracks (again), loud grinding fan, dim screen, yellow screen, long waits before grey Apple shows up during booting. Everything that can go wrong is going wrong. It is time. I am ready. I have the world in my hand.

...maybe I should go with Applecare...

Another large Norwegian retailer out of stock. They've been so since ~April 6th.

It's happening, people! My only concern is the 13-inch, but they probably just overstocked.

Yes. You should. And I will be this next time. Last time I made the dreadful mistake of not. And this last year (Which would have been the third year of my AppleCare) has been the worst time for the poor thing. I forgot to mention one more thing. The trackpad button has become so sensitive that if I press anywhere on the palmrest (ANYWHERE ON THE ENTIRE PALMREST) with any slight pressure, it acts like a click. So I can't even rest my palms on my palmrest without clicking. This poor thing needs to be put to rest. Sent upstate to a Mac farm where it can live out the rest of its days in peace.

I'm almost tempted to take it to the local Mac retailer and see how much it would cost to get it fixed 100% back to normal. But it costs $75 just to look at it. And the cost to replace every part in the machine would be so not worth it.

Bring on the new MacBook Pro's. I'm ready as I'll ever be. When I get off work tomorrow, I hope to be able to drive right to the MacOutfitters and buy a new machine.

Seriously man, what have you done to that machine? Did you purchase Applecare? If you did, get that thing fixed up, NOW...

If not, you're being cheap and it's costing you. At an approximate cost of $125/year, AppleCare is the best thing you can do for your machine. Yes, it's overpriced (like everything Apple), but you're only hurting yourself when you refuse to purchase it - first, when you purchase a $1300 computer and can't throw in another $250 to protect it and second, when you have to purchase another $1300 computer because you didn't spend $250.

As far as discounts go... other than the education discount, I've hear that any US citizen is eligible for Government Employee pricing in the online store. Also, many Apple Partner Corporate employees get special discount pricing... for instance Intel employees get 15% off in both the online store and local stores:D.

What the heck does Intel have?

It's crap cuz people are running BT and Gaming
If I had it to my self it should be this

Let's End this Tomorrow I Need one for my Advance TV Class in the Fall and Radio-Production!

On a side not opera mini is awesome go get it right now i now love my touch that much more. The speed is noticibly better and it remberes passwords. Amazing.

I ran it into the ground. I used to run it 24/7 ripping and encoding DVD's. It probably burned the processor out. I didn't get AppleCare because I was stupid. I've only bought AppleCare once and the computer never had a problem. (It was a 2002 iMac G4 which still works perfectly today.) Every other Mac I ever bought without AppleCare had something go wrong. My iMac G3 had a HD die twice (Once in warranty). My Mac mini has a dead Firewire port (But still works like a champ without it as I don't own any Firewire devices. It is currently a backup server and media server and is playing ripped Simpsons episodes on my HDTV right now.) I learned my lesson. When I buy my MacBook Pro, I will be buying AppleCare without a doubt. Not taking chances this time. I don't need to be told about my mistake. I lived my mistake. If I had bought AC, I could have had the logic board replaced the week it started with its random overheated shutdowns, and the palmrest when it got the crack again. But since I didn't, I live with the occasional 90ºC core temperature shutdown and the ugly cracks on the edges of the plastic and the loud buzzing fan that won't shut the hell up.

A new MacBook Pro will be a breath of fresh air. Even my girlfriend is eager for me to replace this thing. (She owns the same exact model, but hasn't had any problems aside from the crack) As she is also tired of the loud fan too.

Let's just say I'm not being cheap, I'm just squeezing every last drop of usability out of this machine. ;)

I'm currently using my 3-year old whitebook on photoshoots to review & rate photos with the models, but the colors on that screen are horrible. Since most of my work is done away from home, it's not feasible to haul along an extra monitor.

As long as people are dreaming about what they would like to see in the MBP upgrade, I'd love to see them with IPS screens again. I read that several years ago (?) some of the MBPs had IPS displays but they switched back to the cheaper displays to cut costs. I'm not expecting it, but it's my dream :)

On the subject of photography, if anyone is a member of NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals), remember that you can get a NAPP discount through Apple's online store (I think it's similar to the education discount). This isn't a plug for NAPP, just a reminder in case someone out there is like me - who forgets about the discount until *after* they pay full price on an item lol.

Unfortunately yes, i do have AT&T DSL. I can't wait till i get to college so I can have fast internet finally

Regretfully, college Internet is not that much faster.. :( especially when you live in a dorm and everybody is on or using it for xbox360 or ps3..trust me, I know from experience. :-/. However, most of the time it's decent.

WHAT THE HELL!??!?! seriously? it's been posted in here 5 times already!!!

Now now. Play nice, or Santa Jobs will give you coal instead of a shiny new Macbook.

Anyway, is anyone still hoping/believing the Blu-Ray rumor? I dropped off round page 20 something, no idea how often this has been rehashed. :)

I didn't get AC with my MacBook, and Apple replaced the palmrest thing under warranty. Now the screen bessel began to crack, and they won't repair it because the original warranty ended a year ago.

So I'm seriously thinking in getting AC this time with my new MBP, but I'm going to be really tight on budget. So is it necesary to buy AC together with the machine, I mean, same day o you can get it later?

Now, If the 13" didn't get an update, I'm considering a 15" 2,53 C2D (I think it should get a nice discount), as I only need it for everyday stuff, office documents plus video editing with Final Cut Express and a little photo touching with Aperture.

And, I need it to last at least 3 years.

This happened to my macbook few weeks back. Tapping on the palmrest = double click. I had it repair at an Apple Store. The costs was $140 for the top case with keyboard assembly. Another $85 for "hardware repair - level 1" - not sure what that is... perhaps it's the labour cost. Thankfully the MB is still under Applecare. And the Apple Store also threw in a new battery, worth $99. So all these basically cover the cost of the applecare. Sweet :)
