...or tacky white plastic power bricks, cables, earbuds and other accessories.

Please, charcoal or another neutral dark color.

I happen to prefer white and aluminum, as they are more elegant, and they seem to integrate well with most styles of furnishings.

This post intentionally no verbs.

My 2007 MacBook is falling apart.

These are the posts I mentioned earlier in my worries about qualitiy. My four year old Samsung notebook is working fine (and I get 6 hours of workload with the extended battery, 10 hours if using both batteries), my 12 years old discounter notebook is working fine (except the battery which died some time ago), even my I-do-not-remember-how-old Olivetti notebook with Windows 3.1 is working if I switch it on for nostalgic reasons. Here I am continously reading about MBPs falling apart after only 2 or 3 years of use  Not giving much confidence in the quality. Or what are you doing to your notebooks to break them that fast!?

Regards

I wonder about this too, though I am hearing even more of this type of complaint from friends with recent PCs. I'm starting to think that people have a very low tolerance for any less-than-ideal performance these days. My 5+ year old Dell had plenty of quirks along the way but until the last couple of months has been perfectly useable. I didn't care that it wasn't as shiny or fast as newer laptops because it did the jobs I asked of it just as well as when I bought it (and as a scientific programmer/musician this is no mean feat)

That's my hope anyway. MBPs seem solid compared to all the plastic boxes out there. Here's to hoping.

I think it all depends on how much you use it and why you use it. I have friends who have had their macbook for 4 & 5 years now and it still runs fine.

Most people who buy macbook pros are...pros, they do stuff in the field (wherever that may be). Frankly, wear and tear on any brand is inevitable but those people who are toughest on their gear most likely have extended warranty, so the point is moot. The macbook is a tool that is supposed to be used, not kept in an airtight glass case and treated like a work of art (though you can always do that if it pleases you. :D

Seeing it is Apple and it's spotlight, I wouldn't be surprised if nVidia pulled out all the stops to keep maintain the MacBook Pro contract. I don't know what that could entail though. Perhaps guaranteed access to Fermi supplies for the Mac Pro refresh, which would be useful for Apple since Fermi should be an OpenCL monster.

Fermi benchmarks don't actually mean we will see a high increase in GPGPU raw computing. Most Fermi Benchmarks are quite contradictory to each other.

its now 3:09 and im going to bed, im going to wake up at 11am and i hope to god the new mbp's are here. If they are i will preceed to do a happy dance all the way to Best Buy. :D

and if they are not here, well ill be dissapointed like i am every tuesday then I'll just go fishing :)

So im going to make tomorrow a win/win situation, except the new mbp will be a slightly better win. ;)

Thats exactly how I feel.

This is my first MacBook Purchase, and the anticipation is killing me. Said I would never get an IPhone, but when I did I never looked back.

Off Topic, I used to work at Best Buy and I knew some junkout tricks so I could get a new computer. I got my Gateway FX P-7811 junked out just so I can get this new MBP. Anyways, I'm going to sleep and hopefully after my 2 classes in the morning I'll see new MB's bein released.

As an angler I have to say it that it sounds like a pretty good idea to go fishing. I also think that I'll go fishing, should new MacBook Pros not surface :D

I got tired of waiting and was going to just purchase a refurb MBP and then upgrade it myself. Then I went on the apple store to buy the one I was looking at and it was gone. lol...Damnit!

Almost official that new mbps will be out soon, of course mac rumors is again late to report this.

From Apple insider:

Seriously dude, not to jump down your throat like posts have before, but YOU'RE late to report this - this has already been linked over fifty times in this thread! Thanks for the attempt, but that same link is on almost every other page of the thread, dang!

apple better release new laptops soon... I'm sitting here at 3:38 in the morning reviewing my edits that are due in the morning and noticed on my powerbook that my screen flickers
