Even with the education pricing (I work at a college), the 512GB upgrade on the rMBP puts it over what I want to spend and 256GB wouldn't even hold our iTunes libraries. Plus, I just can't pull myself to spend that much for so little space in this day and age. I also like the fact that you can still upgrade the HDD and ram in the cMBP; 2TB laptop drives are coming down in price although I think they are to thick at the moment for the MBP. I could even throw a SSD in at some point when there capacities increase and prices fall. Point is, it gives me options in the future that I wouldn't have with the rMBP.

I've got no problems with the rMBP but, personally, I'd rather have more HDD space then a high resolution display. I just hope Apple continues to update the cMBP.

I'd be interested if Apple changes from nVidia to AMD with graphics and increasing the VRAM to 2GB on the higher end models.

Otherwise I expect to the see the same MBA bumps, and hopefully a little more graphics grunt in the 13" MBP.

A few minutes to start from hibernation? It should take a couple of seconds, and the MacBook Pros don't have spinning hard drives they use all flash storage.

Your comment sounds like it has come from 2003 :p

The quoted 800 MB/s speed of the PCIe Flash/SSD drive, although an improvement over SATA based SSDs seems rather slow for what it is. Apple must be using some old or low grade drives. Perhaps it is a battery life issue and a belief that people would not be utilizing the full speed potential of the PCIe connection anyway.

800MB/s is only for ignorant benchmark freaks who doesn't even know what it brings to real life usage.

Excited for the conclusion of the non-rMBP. It will be nice to have those people finally have their last moment, and fade away into non-existence. Just like the matte screen people. It will be so nice when they are all gone and have no reason to post anymore. Honestly I think they are worse than the paid Android trolls.

Sent from my 2011 non-rMBP. I can't wait to upgrade this awesome 15" machine to a better 15" machine that is thinner, much lighter, much faster, has a RETINA display, and also doesn't have this optical drive that I've used 6 times in 2 years.

How much did Apple pay you to say that?

You know fanboys/trolls/etc are annoying and ignorant, but dude, you take that to a whole new level! I bet you're already waiting in line for the iPhone 5s aren't you? And you think it's the best, but you don't know why.

Why no rMBP at WWDC you ask?

Simple.

They'll launch it alongside Mavericks public release in the fall.

I hope not, I don't want to have a new OS until at least N.2. Releasing just before Mavericks would be better for me and then I can check my current software works, make sure there are no big issues with OS10.9 and be very much more flexible.

Actually, what I would really like is a
Retina Macbook Air 15"
and done. Don't need more.
Yep,
There should be Airs: 11", 13" & 15"
and MBPs: 13", 15" & 17".
Airs should also have touchscreens and built in stylusses.
(Yes, I'm waiting for ipad with osX, with these new battery lifes, there's no techincal reason why not...)
They discontinued the existing model when they didn't discontinue the 13 and 15. It's not happening. There IS NO PROFITABLE DEMAND.
Do you think MP has more "profitable demand" than 17"? Apple needs flagship products for both desktop and laptop lines, in addition to those most popular bulk products, that make most of the money. Otherwise they could just drop macs alltogether (and finally sell osX to someone how cares...)

I hope the retina comes soon--and without image retention, excessive heat, and splotchy displays please. I returned the one I had (Samsung) in December.

I considered the Air, but this review (http://www.laptopmag.com/apple-macbook-air-13-inch-2013.aspx) shows a GeekBench score of 6769. My 2010 15" 2.8 MBP gets 6640, so no thank you.

How about a BD drive?

In mavericks when a BD drive is attached we now get a new thing in the CDs & DVDs system preferences

"When you insert a blank Blu-ray Disc":

It's in the os x 10.8.4 update as well.

Why would apple only have that option now? Is BD coming to new mbps later? Maybe!

Yes BD will be featured in the all new rMBP! as soon as he'll freezes over, or, Iran hosts the next world peace conference - with Elton John performing!

That option is in mountain lion.

Touch screen computers with a stylus?

17" computer?

Why not phanny pack cell phones also?

Are you sure your not a misplaced Lenovo enthusiast?

I suggest you go take a look in the mirror. It will help you identify the ignoramus in the future.

My current desktop (2x256 GB stripped array) consistently tests above 900 MB/s read and write and yes, it does make a difference.

I also suggest you learn to read the entire post. If you had, you would have noticed that 800 MB/s is a useful performance increase, but is not in the speed range cited for the Mac Pro and that there could have been performance/battery life trade-offs involved.

MBA is perfect for me, but i'd say that i'm really curious what will the next MBP would offer. it's good to see so many new apple products in such a short time window.:)

Hello.

I have allways used PC and now I am interested in getting a cMBP because i dont need the retina display. It actually costs 1000$ with the ecucational discount but i have been reading for a while and everybody says that macbooks will upgrade soon, but i want the macbook without the retina display, so i dont really know what to do, wether to buy the cMBP now or wait to see if they upgrade to a new MBP without the retina screen.

I dont consider getting the MBA because i am not sure if i will need the DVD drive for my studies in the next years, so i decided to get a MBP.

What i dont whant to happen is that apple releases new MBP and removes the one without the retina, and the cheapest MBP would be a minimum of 1300$ or so...

What do you recommend me? Thank you very much.

No one has "inside information", but the usual pattern is that the various stores, usually including the university book stores or computer stores, will have at least a few of most things left over when the new version is announced. Occasionally, they may even knock a few dollars off to move the now superseded models. This is just opinion though.

There is a lot of talk of Retina displays becoming standard eventually. At the same time there are reports of the suppliers having difficulty delivering sufficient quantities to support current production levels. It seems to me that the time has not yet arrived when Apple will make Retina displays standard across the entire Macbook Pro lineup. Others may have a different view of it though.

There is simply no way of knowing what will happen with absolute certainty, but the rumor mill usually starts to come up with the details of the new models just before their release.

Either way, you should wind up with a machine that will serve you well.

We could spect a Nip/Tuck on the HrMBP, especially if it includes that mythic IGZO 3200x1800 screen... its obvious.

BTW sure improvements we could spect: 12-13h Battery Life for HrMBP-15, ACwifi, and pci SSD, and cheaper, no 128GB HrMBP13, and Cheaper 256GB HrMBP15, and No TB2 this year.

if requires an new Unibody for that IGZO screen, also we could spect no HDMI port, instead another TB1 port or another USB3 (actually more useful than an extra TB port ).

I would be impressed if apple Offers a redesigned rMBP/cMBP line with an shared Unibody and 7mm Spinner HDD as base with Fusion/Full SSD as option Non-Retina screen and Retina as option. Of Course its Apple not Dell/HP, so keep dreaming.

I am sure this has been said already but my prediction is:

Apple will have an event that involves the release of:

1) Mac Pro
2) MacBook Pro
3) iMac
4) Mac Mini
5) TBD
6) Software such as iWork, Final Cut Pro, etc.

I think that the iMacs will ship in the future because the displays will be harder to produce for the TBD and iMac at the same time.

I'm buying a new laptop for school this fall, and I was really hoping to buy a MacBook Pro with the new Haswell processor. It would be my first Mac, and I decided to convert based on the resolution and the battery life. Unfortunately the Air's screen, both size and resolution wise, are not quite cutting it.

I won't be buying last years model this late in the game, so unfortunately if Apple doesn't act soon I may have to settle for a Windows laptop. D:
