Tomorrow could be the day.

If you go to Amazon.com - several of the MBP configurations are now listed as "unavailable" and when you go to CompUsa.com the MBPs are listed as "sold out."

Here's hoping for tomorrow. Because Wednesday I am buying my MBP regardless. I just can't wait any longer.

All models are still ready to ship in 24 hours here in Denmark (Apple Store).

I can agree the compusa page is showing only one macbook pro available...maybe someone should give them a call and see what the lead time is :)

MBP Page Not Updated?

Anyone else notice that the MBP page has not been updated since the "Buy a mac & get a free iPod nano" promotion ended on the 16th? If you click the link it just takes you back to the main page. Is it because they have a new MBP page waiting w/ all the updates?

May not mean anything (but, hey, we're all good at reading meaning into anything MBP related right now! :) ), as for instance the Norwegian counterpart Norw. MBP Page still has a valid link to the (ongoing) promotion (Norw. iPod promo page).

God! Get it! The X1600 is not underclocked dammit!:p

They run at same speed as any other X1600 in PCs.

I don't believe in nVidia cards for portables. Yes, the 12" PB has GeForce Go5200, but still, the MBP has to reamin 1" thin.;)

With AMD's purchase of ATI, a possibility might be that ATI won't be allowed to provide gfx cards to any intel machines. Another possibility might be AMD would be crazy to stop charging people for gfx cards, no matter what computer they're in.

Let's hope there's more to the MBP upgrade than just a merom drop-in. If that's all that is coming then it should have been out 3+ weeks ago just like every other company, especially considering that my husband's new core 2 duo Dell laptop is scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday.

though Cyprus IS the last place on earth to get anything...)

Besides Greece?! Ahh Rainbow (official reseller in Greece) sucks. A pathetic company, a miserable failure.
The worst representation APPLE could get in a foreign country.

I wanted to complain about this company and the support it provides (have more than one bad scenarios to mention), but I don't know where to complain to. Any ideas? Complaining to them directly doesn't seem likely to change anything. I was thinking of contacting someone on the mothership (aka. Apple USA). If you have any much better ideas please contact me!

Sorry for this reply being a bit (or byte :p) off-topic.

I only said that it makes no sense to have 2 base 15" configurations.

If they ever bring back the 12" (and it sounds like they probably will... eventually), it'd take the place of that model.

At any rate, the same could be said for having two base configurations of the white MB. My vote is marketing; giving people easy access to a "bare bones" system, while also showing that it is also possible to have a more powerful computer of the same model.

No... don't! It will be just one more week!

Now That The Student Deal Is Over, It's Time For A Refresh!. I agree it's better than 50-50 chance tomorrow will see the refresh. Let's all focus on mentally forcing Apple Marketing to make their move tomorrow! :D

I just checked Amazon.com and 3 of the 4 models they list are available for sale new now. If it's not tomorrow, I am going to have a cow.

Here's A Link To Apple's MacBook Pro page so anyone passing through here can see if it's suddenly Core 2 Duo ANY MINUTE Now! :p

It also just occurred to me that if Apple does go 2.33GHz on the 17" as well as on the top 15" models, they needed to wait longer to get a sufficient quantity of those processors before they could offer the new model to us all. Yields of the fastest speed are much lower than for example the 2GHz model. Looking at the old MBP page, it reminds me that 2.16GHz CD is standard on both the top 15" & 17" models. So you know they have got to go 2.33GHz C2D to really knock our socks off. Thus another rationalization why we are having to wait - oh and the fact that none of us have a life also helps. :D

Those of us hanging out in this forum are the equivalent of somebody contemplating their navel. In checking my spelling in Tiger's wonderful Oxford Dictionary, I found a delightful example of my use of that term:

"PHRASES
contemplate one's navel spend time complacently considering oneself or one's own interests; concentrate on one issue at the expense of a wider view." I meant the latter. :D

What I think would be great if they just have a "Macbook" and "Macbook Pro" with none of the stock options, then you can get to chose the processor you want, the hard drive... yadda yadda... and pay for what you speced - no more, no less.

Part of the reason why everyone is playing the waiting game here with the MBP is not so much because we need the performance, truth is most computers that are out today will suit like 99% of users' needs - including for the Pros, but to get a good bang for the bucks we pay for it. What do the creative professionals need to do today that they ain't doing 5 years ago? Because even cheap consumers laptops today have SMP, something that you really have to shell out big time for back then!

In the words of another Mac user... "Even my new Macbook is almost as powerful as my G5 workstation, and that's just because I bought it 2 years before".

lol, i've said it before and i'll say it again; some people just have no patience whatsoever. it is almost 100% assured that mbp's about to receive an update yet you have people like this who say they can't wait any longer.

it's all good. one less yonah mbp so a merom mbp can fill it's spot.

Maybe it is in the U.S but it aint here in the U.K!! Weve got till the 6th October to get our iPod deal. I really hope this doesn't mean a) a staggered release of the MBP, which I could not imagine apple doing in a million years or b) we're all going to have to wait till after the 6th or c) the offer is only valid on old MBP and iPod stock!! Could you imagine!!

So I'm guessing that means I will get to buy my spanking new MBP and new iPod Nano using the rebate. Ah bliss :p

Also I had my heart set on the MBP 15" and buy a dell 20" 2007wfp, but am now considering the 17" and a 2007wfp if my means can do it, any comments? I think the 17" is maybe too big to carry round everyday. Need it for uni, this is my project year, so will most likely have it with me nearly everyday.

You hit the jackpot with that one! Apple special offers always apply to specific model/part numbers.

And they are already limiting the edu offer to the old ipods only, so it would really make sense to continue the offer (where it's still available) with the old MBPs and old ipods when the new MBPs arrive tomorrow ;) (and have sales like on the aussie Apple Store to clear out the rest of the inventory).

I have the original 1.25GHz G4 Aluminum 15" PB from 3 years ago. It has a screen resolution of 1280 x 854 - the same width as and only 54 pixels higher than today's MacBook. I've decided that I want the 17" MBP with the 24" Dell 2007wfp.

So I think you should get the 17" MBP and the Dell 24" 2007 wfp for around $700 when it's on sale. Why? Well when you look closely, the 17" only weighs 1.2 pounds more than the 15" and dimensions are only 1.3 inches wider and .8 inches deeper than the 15" model - hardly a burden to any desk's footprint. Plus it's only $300 or 13% more for a lot more features like a 3rd USB2 port, FW 800, the best graphics offered and the much higher resolution 1680x1050 screen - +400 x +196 more than what I have now.

I'm thinking of the MacBook Pro as a C2D Desktop that I can take with me sometimes when I need to go mobile. Also at the University, you will stand out as they gal-guy with the latest greatest and biggest state-of-the-art mobile Mac out there. :D So there's always the Macho factor - even if you are a woman. :p

I'm getting all worked up over tommorow being the day. The anticipation is really getting to me.

just remember everyone...

all the rumor sits speculated the 23" imac (really 24") would be revealed at the "Showtime" event. apple fooled them all and released it a week early!

let's hope the same thing happens for our mbp's. here's to next tuesday! :D

I certainly hope its updated tomorrow either way; I'm going to be within 5 miles of an Apple store this weekend, and I'm a 2.5 hour drive away right now!

They have changed the date here in denmark twice. It used to say the 16th up until the 15th or 16th i think, then it was changed to the 6th october and now it says the 7th october.

I cant wait to get my hands on a C2D 17" mbp. My first Mac :)

Just like the last 4 months, i am not getting worked up over tommorrow or next week, I am just waiting....hoping for 'soon' :)
