Interesting,eh?

HecubusPro said:Okay, aside from back-to-school shipping delays, many MBP purchasers are noting similar ship dates and times. It seems slightly more likely that MBP's and MB's could get C2D upgrades at the same time.
I'm still banking on tomorrow/Tuesday as the day we'll see C2D MBP's made available. MB's I'm not sure. But I'm beginning to think if they're not upgraded at the same time as MBP's then they'll be announced and shipping very soon after.
Ship Times: MacBook 5-7 days • MacBook Pro 24 hours. Wow! That makes it look like MacBooks will get Merom first!Tejasfilm said:I've received the same notice, ship on September 26, 2006 with an delivery date of October 3, 2006. I do know from an inside source that hinted at developer MBP's with the Core 2 Duo. My money's on the MBP's being upgraded with the Core 2 Duo on the 25th. I mean they even say on their webpage 5-7 day delivery as is. This is my first mac as well.
hagjohn said:Then again... All iMacs were updated at the same time. There was no distinction between high or low models.
Exactly. And they will stay that way for some time to come since no speed above 2.33 GHz is even mentioned on the mobile roadmap yet. But you will gain a significant advantage with the 2GHz Merom since it has double the L2 cache up to 4MB shared from 2MB in Yonah.HecubusPro said:Arg. You're right. Don't know what I was thinking. Would they just put C2D versions of the same speed in as replacements then? 1.83 and 2.0?
No I didn't. Obviously they have come down. But 2.16 & 2.33 GHz Meroms still cost radically more then the 2GHz and under models. You gotta give Apple a chance to make a profit on those puppies.generik said:Do you mean to say the chip prices have stayed the same since May?
chris07 said:Hey guys,
I'm really pushing for MBP updates tomorrow, Tuesday the 19th, but it seems as though all of the shipping notices that we are getting explain that MBP's/MB's are being delayed until Tuesday the 26th. Can anybody think up any possibe explanations as to why our new MBP's will be released tomorrow, but shipping dates are a week from tomorrow? I really hope that they will be released the 19th, but evidence seems to be pointing next week, near the 25th/26th.
Opinions?
HecubusPro said:macbooks and macbook pro's are different lines of product, and they are distinct from each other. If there were an iMac Pro line that had been simultaneously updated at the same time as the standar iMac line, then I would be more inclined to believe that MB's and MBP's will be updated at the same time. The jury's still out on that one, though I can definitely see them both being updated simultaneously.

to come standard with 2gb of ram or is that just pushin it?
anim8or said:I really want the new MBP tomorrow but i have been thinking....
The new C2D iMacs did not get a keynote or event, just a reasonably quiet announcment on the store.
They also didnt have a redesign, just a new size....
Now the 'Showtime' Event did have a redesigned product, nanos and shuffles, and so wanted to keynote it to show off.
So i am thinking that maybe we will see a new case design or just an updated case design with the Photokina event....
...or perhaps a newly designed iSight or Monitor inc. iSight?
(All this being said about my keynote = design changes, the macbook only had a store announcement and it was a big redesign....
..but then again apple may have sligtly changed its ways since then ie wednesday releases?!?)
These are just observations i still hope for the new MBP tomorrow![]()

I also think the shipping dates are all misleading. I really think it's a 50/50 chance for these next two tuesdays. But of course, it's been said before, if they come out tomorrow it will be a minor upgrade, if it gets a keynote i think we'll see some cool stuff.
Here's to hoping MBP's are released tomorrow and in stores by 10:00, which means I'll be taking notes in class on my new notebook by 11.

MacinDoc said:I only suggest this because the iMac has a 3 GB config with a 1 GB SODIMM and a 2 GB SODIMM, but will not recognize two 2 GB DIMMs. I think I also read that dual channel memory is only a minor concern with the C2D machines. In any case, SODIMMs will NOT be soldered onto the MB of the MBP. That would not be consistent with it being a "Pro" machine. And if Apple doesn't accomodate at least the same amount of RAM in the "Pro" MBP as in the prosumer iMac, you know the flames they'll get.
