Any chance we will see a price reduction?

Doubt it. Apple has the policy that if you buy a product and then within 10 days they reduce the price they will refund it. It is easier for Apple to give you more for the same price.

RAM
I would love 1x1GB to be standard.

Bigger hardrive. Faster clock speeds.

sorry, forgot the base model (15") starts off with 512MB... but other than that, there's not much they could add... powerwise sure, 16x SD, more RAM, faster clock speeds... but what i mean is non-powerwise.. there's not much they could add extra from what it already has

Easy swap HD.

Magnetic latch.

Better graphics card.

Off the top of my head, better GPU, more RAM, bigger HD, better battery, higher resolution LCD panel, firewire 800, eSATA port... :)

Jazzed up? Pulheeze!!! You want jazzed up at a reasonable price, try this:

2.0 Ghz C2D
17" Panel (1680x1050)
512MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7600
2 GB RAM
Dual Layer DVD with LightScribe
240 GB HDD
built-in webcam
atrractive looking, thin enclosure

All this for $2038.99 from the nice folks at HP.

If the new MBPs are not at least announced by Tuesday, I'm going with this custom config of HP's dv9000t. I think that anyone who caves in to Apple's arrogant foot draging tactics and buys the current overpriced and underspeced version of MBP is a damned fool.

There, I've said it.

nVidia Go 7700 please :)

It's not quite as fast as the 7600GT but it's significantly faster than the 7600 and it should be cooler/use less power due to being the first 80nm part from nVidia.

Expresscard/54 and eSATA

Not Really. Your perception of jazzed up to the max is not mine.

17" could use both Expresscard/54 and eSATA ports. 1920 x 1200 screen res would also be helpful.

You can't be more right about this, as it is it is really hard to justify paying almost twice as much for only marginal improvements over the Macbook.

At 7.8 lbs plus the weight of the second HD. (17'' MBP is 6.8 lbs.)

How thin is this really?

Estimated build date: October 16.

I have had experience with HPs. IMO they are some of the poorest built computers on the market today. I wouldn't expect and HP laptop to last more than 2 years.

Theres only one thing that your missing in that "jazzed up" HP. Have you ever heard of mac os x? You better think twice about your decision before you go with an HP.

Do you realize how annoying it is when you put half of your response in the title field? I'd like to read what you have to say, but it makes me want to gouge my eyes out.

Yes HP is one of the most poorly built machines on the market to day. But, I'd have to say emachines by far the worst brand of computers out there. Never buy one.

I still contend that anyone who buys the current version of MPB is a fool. I've used Windows PCs for years -- I think I can manage a few more. I already own Windows versions of Photoshop and Premiere (not to mention all the MS Office apps) -- I can't imagine these apps run any better on a Mac or have a dramatically better UI. Finaly, it's not like Apple QC has been top notch lately. Still -- if the new MBPs show up by Tuesday, I'm buying, even if a similarily equipped HP or Dell laptop is $1000 less :)

There, I've said it! :D

I would rather stick to my PowerBook 1GHZ than use an HP laptop that does the dishes, laundry, dusts the house and makes me a sandwich, cause in the end, it still a Windows running HP :D

It is true that buying the current version is a fool. Can't wait til Tuesday hopefully not another one of those lame tuesdays that i've had the past couple of months. Maybe i'll stay away from the forums after i see peoples reviews and what they think of their new macbook pro. Then i'll buy one.

I rather spend the money on a Mac Pro rather than the current lame MBPs. At least with the MPs you can be sure to get *heaps* of useful life out of it, the MBPs are overpriced even at 1/2 the price as it is.

Then you're insane. If I had a windows laptop that could do all that you mentioned, and a mac couldn't, I would become a lobbyist for the annihilation of OSX as an operating system that was taking advantage of its users.

HP Laptop - does dishes, laundry, dusts the house and makes you sandwiches. It's also a computer that runs windows.

Mac - doesn't do dishes, doesn't do laundry, doesn't dust the house and certainly doesn't make you sandwiches. But it's a computer that runs OSX.

Advantage - HP Laptop.

I just hope they make it more expensive.

I mean, this is Apple's PRO laptop. What kind of message are they sending where poor college students are lining up to buy a professional laptop. Where is the status symbol in that?

Even if it means delaying the release until after Tuesday, I would much rather have Apple figure out a way to make the MBP cost more. I'm fed up with this bargain basement attitude.

since the price is low, would you mind getting me one if the C2C price remains the same? :D

Yeah, I'd hope he'd get me one too if the price stays the same or gets even cheaper, god forbid. Hey SherrifParker, would you get us all one if prices stay the same? We know you hate low prices, so maybe you can fight the man by spending more money and getting a MBP for all of us. That'll show 'em. :)

Hey, Great idea! Sounds like a win win to me. This cash is burning a hole in my pocket! PM me. :D

lol.

My GF has already been promised my Macbook once I upgrade to the new MBP.

She's been asking me lately about any new news and disappointed when I have nothing to offer. If they're not released soon, I think I may be the one without a computer!
