I don't think they would offer that much of a discount even if you're a member. I am sure they are pretty much the same, and if you're thinking of adding the discount on top of your education one, I've never heard of any kind of discount offer used that way. :)

The discount is almost double that of the education discount.

Normal Store: $1,999 - $2,499 - $2,799
Education Store: $1,799 - $2,299 - $2,599
ADC Store: $1,599 - $1,999 - $2,239

add $100 to the ADC prices for the cost of a student membership. And be sure to buy your AppleCare *after* purchase, from the Education store, to avoid paying the extra $100 for that.

The developer discount is aimed at attracting new developers to the platform, as well as providing incentive for buying test rigs.

You can find the ADC store by heading to their disclaimer site, and then clicking on "ADC Hardware Purchase Program Store". (for some reason it doesn't seem to accept direct links)

Just remember that this is a one time purchase, period. You cannot get the discount again. (unless you pay the $500 or $1000 for the upper tier memberships)

And finally, I'm not 100% sure that brand new machines will get the discount, but I would assume so. (for devs to buy test rigs asap)

Has anyone ever tried changing names to get multiple ADC discounts? :p

Apologies if this has been posted already but the middle stock MBP availability has just jumped to 5 days on the UK edu store.

Edit: as pointed out previously...

The Finland stores (both regular and edu) still have the following times:

MB - 5 days for all models
MBP - 24hrs for 15", 2 days for 17"

So I bet Monday will introduce a very new different much improved MacBook Pro not a marginal evolutionary model.

Monday is aproaching... Do you still think that?. I´ve been waiting for the new MBP merom for 2 month and after read the most part of your post, I would like to think you are wright. You have to know that here, in spain, a couple of friends and I use to believe in your words (the most part of the times...)

We would like to know exactly your predictions for this monday. Thanks

(sorry for my english)

I keep seeing this ADC mentioned. I am a potential convert from PCs to Macs, mainly because I am waiting on the upgraded MBP to be released before I buy, but would like it if someone could give me an overview of what ADC is.

I am a student and a minister. I study mainly via online coursing from Ames Christian University, and am desiring to get away from the trap of spending a large percentage of my time in battle with trojans and viruses and PC break down problems.

My GF has already been promised my Macbook once I upgrade to the new MBP.

She's been asking me lately about any new news and disappointed when I have nothing to offer. If they're not released soon, I think I may be the one without a computer!

Either that, or you may find yourself without a GF:D

I don't think there's going to be a huge tweak/re-design to the MacBook Pro.

I think there would be a much bigger event tomorrow if it was to get redesigned in any major way. Otherwise, I think it's business as usual, only with Core2 Duo added and perhaps a magnetic latch and removable hard drive in the MacBook Pro.

ONEIGHTURBO,

Wow. Now THAT'S what I call self-restraint.

Doesn't it seem like the box is just taunting you, sitting there like that?

"Open me...", it says softly. "C'mon! Crack open the box. You know you want to."

Maybe you should hide it until Tuesday. Put it somewhere out-of-sight.

How about doing some meditation, maybe reciting some Buddhist koans?

I know -- thought of one: "What is the sound of a MacBook Pro not opened?" :)

I'm going to wait to shell out the $$ for the ADC membership because if they don't come out with something this week, I'm going to break down and buy a PC.

YOU HEAR THAT APPLE!!!!!???? :D

Now that is just plain nasty!

I've been waiting since June like a lot of people. I was expecting to wait until WWDC, the every tuesday after that until Paris so I'm hoping, and praying tomorrow is the day.

This is what I want on my desk...

15" MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo
2.33Ghz
2GB ram (later 4GB)
160GB or more harddrive
256MB VRA
Superdrive

I would forgive apple for the wait if we got a totally new look to the MacBook Pro.

Photokina starts at approximately 8:30AM PST, right? Total newbie question: announcements then, or the standard Tuesday? I've been assuming that's the case, but I need to be able to plan my schedule to get out of class as fast as I can handle and dash to the Apple store and get to work :)

No but Apple will pay for the return shipping. Just phone them NOW to make the arrangements and they will email you a PDF pre-paid shipping label you can print and slap on the unopened box and hand back to the delivery guy. This is assuming you did not BTO anything. If you BTOed it, you will have to lobby for an exchange/upgrade to the C2D model.

At first I thought 'Great - I didn't customize anything, should be no problem to return.'

Then I'm reading the fine print on my order slip and I find out that choosing the free optional glossy screen means that by this time tomorrow, I'm potentially going to be stuck with an outdated/overpriced 15" MBP that won't even arrive until Wendesday.

I don't want to call and cancel the order, just in case there's no announcement. Nor do I particularly like the idea of making a case after the fact to a customer support rep that they should do me any favors, especially when it's my fault for not doing more research, but in this case I may make an exception.

Meanwhile, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there's a reason that my original 2 day time-to-ship extended to 4 days, and my package tracking page says Apple missed the FedEx cutoff time by 15 minutes on Friday...maybe they wanted to make sure I didn't get it until at least Tuesday after the announcement b/c there's a C2D inside?

I've started trying to convince myself that if I were Apple and wanted to cut down on people bitching about buying a MBP one week, then a new one coming out the next, I'd give free nanos out up until the week before the announcement, then hold all orders from the week prior, drop in C2Ds, and make sure they don't arrive until after the announcement.

How's that for rationalization?

Are you wanting the gloss or matte finish on your screen & why?
