Surely Apple will want to wait until that offer is over before releasing the upgrades? That way they can get rid of both the old stock iPods but also the (soon to be) outdated MBs and MBPs - my University recommends students buy the 1.83 MB, so there's a bit of a push on to get them sold it would seem!

This is my first post.
Believe it or not my very first Mac is shipping today: 17" MBP.
I guess I will have to be patient and not open the box until tomorrow just in case a new MBP is announced...
As for apple holding out on the upgrade because of the Edu deal in the UK. I would not think so. I don't think it would be to their advantage to hold off a new processor just because some students/faculty are going to get an iPod if they purchase a computer.
Btw, what is the policy on exchanges w/ apple? I was told in another forum that if Apple announces an upgrade within 14 days of someone obtaining a product, you get in on the upgrade for free.

Im not sure what the computer differances between here and the UK are..... maybe it will be like a CD that comes out in one territory first before it hits the next territory? Surely not though?
Anyways, I bought a 2.0 15" MBP exactly a week ago......... It kept randomly shutting down and so apple graciously took it back, and gave me a brand new 2.16 15" MBP model abosultely free. The nice thing is, it shows on my receipt the higher price!
I really hope apple updates today. I guess if not, i wont be sad. I just will continue to enjoy the MBP i already opened!
Anyways, name is Will.
23, from Houston Texas.

imperium said:I just rang the my local Apple sales team and told them I'd heard there was going to be an update today. Her response was that they'd not heard anything, although she said they wouldn't normally hear until it was officially announced. I pressed to see if there were any rumours going around their office, and was told no, none at all. Having put the phone down, I tried not to punch the wall! Bah!![]()

If C2D is delayed beyond September in MBP's, it'll be because of a problem in development, or manufacturing. No way would Apple let everyone else ship their C2D notebooks and be left behind for all to see!
Here's hoping to today or tomorrow ......
