If there is no MBP there will be A LOT! of angry/dissapointed people. Like a while back everyone expected to see the new video ipod but got a Mac Mini upgrade etc...

The main problem is that PC manufacturers have C2D machines for an awful lot less than the MBP with its non C2D. Personally, I think you'd have to be slightly mad to pay what Apple is currently charging for the MBP without a C2D.

My little iBook G4 800Mhz can't handle reloading 4 webpages every 8 seconds while running Skype and iTunes. I'm really hanging out for these MBP's.

I have to say I'm surprised that updated Macbooks and Macbook Pros haven't been released yet. With the Intel transition, Apple finally seemed to pair its self-image as a premium producer with the products to match--using the cutting edge Intel processors and being the first to do so. Witness the iMac (twice!), and the Mac Pro and xServe. Why they're being so tardy on their strongest selling segment (laptops) is beyond me. Any prolonged delay risks tarnishing--slightly, but still palpably--their status as a provider of premium kit. It simply doesn't look good selling what are now, at least in the MBP price range, last-generation processors.

Having said that, my guess is for a quiet refresh of both laptop lines Wednesday. No announcement, just an update Apple Store.

Dunny

You must either have an issue or not enough RAM. My old G3 900 iBook could do more than that and run iTunes and still be ok.

Please show me what PC manufacuter has a C2D machine with similar specs to the MBP for an "awful lot less" (I'm including dimensions here too.... so 15" laptops in the 6 pound range and about 1 inches thick with X1600 or equivalent GeForce 7600 graphics).

Certainly there are manufacuters selling lower-end laptops with C2D in them, but the equivalently spec'd C2D PC notebooks that I've seen aren't selling for an awful lot less. They seem to be in the same general price range, frankly.

Put the machiens next to each other. They are worlds apart in design. PC laptops are very cheap and plasticky. All of them. The best was IBM's thinkpad, now suffering it's own qc probs.

640Mb RAM, Max for this model.

Maybe it could... but could it run iTunes 7? Damn memory hog :(

Lots of whiners here, jeez.

Apple will release their MBP's when they are ready to ship them. You are all acting like kids who can't get their toys.

It's not like they are holding them back just to annoy you all.
