I am more than happy to do so if its needed. I mean the C2D has been put in the iMac so they have the technology..... should not take this long to put in a notebook

Anyone know who's presenting?

Anyway, they've opened with Aperture so there's room for one more thing... right?

..... right?

So what we are waiting for is:
"Like Steve always says, 'And one other thing...' to help you run aperture in the best way possible, we are releasing updates to our already impressive macbook pro line, to include higher resolution and faster clock speeds. We have improved our store update so it is now an instant switch to screw with the rumor watchers and to help push sales up for our older product. Thanks, and good night!"

Two words: Engineering trouble.

Namely heat disipation (sp)

If they aint out today i might have to hand Dell £1000 of my money instead and get a Core 2 Duo from them which is already in stock ready to go

If you would be fine with a Dell, why do you need to wait for a MacBook Pro with C2D? I honestly don't get this. Either you want or need to be able to run OS X, and anything Dell offers wouldn't make a difference..... or you would be fine with a Dell with Core 2 Duo, in which case it makes no sense that you are waiting for an MBP upgrade.

Honestly, what do you think is so special about the Dells with C2D that you won't get in a Core Duo MBP (or even a Core Duo Dell; note that Dell still sells Core Duo chips on pretty much all their models).

Agreed. I am ebarrassed for Apple. :) Seriously though. It's past time, new form factor or not. Just drop the damn chip in for crying out loud you corporate headsmen!

Amen. That's why whenever the update comes, I expect they've made case changes (which is why I am not hopeful for it being today). Because if it was just a business decision to hold off, it was an extremely poor one because there are plenty of people who are just going to buy C2Ds in other machines where they're ready to go, instead of buying technology they already consider obsolete.

Perhaps Design Challenges Are Causing More Delay ... But The Event Is Not Yet Over

Unless they are perfecting design to be much cooler. Maybe we have to be ultra patient.

What gives me a slightly 'off' taste is that apart from the previously-mentioned TUAW column, there's no live, or live-ish coverage.

Ain't gonna happen t'day (but I hope....)

I think he was joking.

How appropriate...iTunes shuffle feature just came up with "Disappointment" by the Cranberries.

Still helplessly hoping. I want to switch; I really do.

Aperture 1.5 Introduced

The Unofficial Apple Weblog has some running commentary, but not exactly 'live'. It's the closest I've found so far.
Great catch. Thank you gauchogolfer.

Aperture 1.5 is introduced.

Aperture 1.5 has a new library system with better support for external storage, DVD's, as well as RAID. This should make a lot of Aperture users happy.

Still one more hour of the event. Plenty of time for MBP to share the spotlight.

Sorry if i'm off the topic but does Apple sell more laptops or more desktops?

Not sure on actual figures, but according to the Canadian Apple Store site, Macbooks are 3rd in the 'Top Sellers' list, trailing the iPods. The iMacs follow at number 6, and the MPBs at number 7. The Mac Pros aren't even on the list.

Seems like right now they are selling more laptops. This list is only indicitive of what's selling right now though, not in the past.
