MBP vs. MBP--Looks

The Pro is cooler because people truly know they are the "King of the Jungle" when it comes to notebooks :apple:

the silver bezel of the macbook air looks 5X better than the black of the macbook pro.

The black bezel with the glass covering is one of the things I personally prefer about the Pro over the Air. I am perhaps fortunate enough to not currently use it in a location where reflections are a huge deal and to me it just looks classier. I'm also not as scared to allow my son to poke it, as I am most conventional LCD panels.

After reading your own hardware lineup all I can say is WTF???

The iPad was a Christmas present, the iPhone was at a discount, and the iMac and the MacBook Pro were bought with a job that pays minimum wage. Not that surprising when you consider they are both the cheapest macs in their class and are spread a year apart.

IMHO:

based ONLY on looks:

11inch MBA > 13inch MBA > 13inch MBP > 15inch MBP > 17inch MBP

I like the MBA's gray bezel better than the black. Reminds me of the old classic style macbook pros (which in my opinion looked better than everything we have today). And I think for the larger MBP's the extra space around the keyboard looks really weird.

But of course I (and I hope most of you) don't buy computers based on looks alone. And of course my rankings would be completely different for best all around apple laptop.

I agree with that. I think maybe the 15" model still looks fine but the 17" in particular looks a little odd. Like it really could have done with a number pad as well or something.

The Air looks cooler to me. But the specs and ability to upgrade ram and hd make the MBP best for me. I def love the Air's form factor better though.

MBA > Pre-Unibody MBP (silver keys) > Unibody MBP

I like the way my 2008 pre-unibody MBP was completely silver colored. If I could, I would rather my 2011 MBA 11" and 2011 MBP 17" also have silver keys.

Also, whoever wrote about the MBP 17" looking too odd with all the space around the trackpad, I don't even notice it. It just feels great to rest your wrists/forearms on it.

apple does seem to care a lot about design. both machines are cool but the air seems to point to the future of apple laptops.

i too prefer the powerbook silver key look.

I must have much different priorities.

Already secure and happy, I don't care if the Mac I use is accepted as cool or good looking by others.

I'm far too busy making money to care what it looks like.

In many ways I find style a problem for Apple. By making very good looking laptops they attract vain, insecure people who are only as good as the gear they're seen with.

I feel sorry for vain, self conscious, insecure people.

Posers, they sit at Starbucks waiting to be noticed. In the most extreme cases, these poor souls actually believe the girls are attracted to them because of their Mac. Flippin crazy.

I've never really understood this attitude. Especially from people who, by their own admission, sit in front of a computer for their job. If you have to interact with something all day, you might as well have a good view while you do it, no?

I would definitely buy the MBA if it had the black bezel like the MBP, the silver one it has right now just makes it look more like a toy.

i like the design of the air, but...miss the black bezel of the pros.

overall, i think the pro's are near-perfect (please notice the use of the word "near").

i look forward to the convergence of the two designs; whatever ive & company have in store for us next.

I own a 13" MBP and as much as I love it my vote went to the 13" Air as far as looking cooler goes. The Air looks sleek and sexy. That said both look very good, the Air's screen is gorgeous. The Pro has more muscle, more memory and much more storage and those things are all very important to me which is why I own the pro.

I'm also surprised that the Pro is leading the Air in the voting. I was sure the Air would win this by a landslide.

The only thing I choose MBP over MBA is because of I can upgrade it to 16GB RAM (MD313) :D

i think the 11.6" MBA and 15" MBP have the best proportionality

i prefer the silver bezel (part of the reason i bought an anti glare MBP) but on the 11" MBA that bezel is far too big to look good.

the MBP looks good closed and from the back with the wide black hinge and it's solid appearance but open from the front it looks square and chunky. i'd describe it as dated but solid.

the MBA design is evolutionary but without seeing it in larger form factors idk how that design would translate for the 15 and 17

13 vs 13: MBA looks cooler

Which one works better ?
The one that offers more functionality.
Sorry, but I don't look upon a computer as a " fashion accessory "!

But if I did, for the ULTIMATE in COOLNESS you need to be sporting a 17" Macbook Pro with the Hi-Res Anti-Glare Screen.

Anything less then that would be totally uncool! :D

I don't know why people start talking about which one works best and stuff like that. That wasn't the question.

I think the 15" Pro looks best. I have the 13" Pro and 11" Air.

Yeah, functionality should have nothing to with ones decision making process in the purchase of a computer, who cares if it works ... let's just ask about looks.

Oh and when I went to answer this poll, this is the question I saw .....

MBP vs. MBP--Looks

I would say the MBP looks better than the MBP, wouldn't you? ;)

Have a nice day! :D
