MBP vs. MBP--Looks

I'm amazed this is so close of a race. The Air looks like a little child's toy to me not to mention way to delicate. My MBP feels and looks every bit as durable as it is.

Oh Brother...

I'm amazed this is so close of a race. The Air looks like a little child's toy to me not to mention way to delicate. My MBP feels and looks every bit as durable as it is.

Edit: That was a bit harsh on my part, never mind, statement retracted.

They are both beautiful things of work & play. Let's leave it at that.

I returned an 11" mba because it was too delicate and jewel-like and the keyboard was too mushy anc sucked. But it does look cool and thats probably why i bought it. But it went back and now i have a tank-like 13" mbp that is cool looking too and not very heavy and very fast and i have it wrapoed in ond of those protective plastic covers colored orange. I Love it. It workxps beautifully in conjunction with my mac mini.

The Air has a great design and looks good on pictures. In real life, I very much prefer the look and feel of the Pro.

The Bezel on the Air is oversized, and even though it's made of high quality material, it feels cheap and fragile when compared to the Pro.

I've recently compared the ASUS Zenbook and the MBA in some BestBuy, and I have to say that the Zenbook has a slight edge on the Air as far as the design is concerned, without being too much of a copy. In comparison, I have yet to see a laptop that comes close to the MBP.

It's all good. I accept other people's opinions whether they are harsh or not. No need to censor yourself.

I think it's okay for those who need thinness, yet at the same time a reasonably large screen. In my opinion, introducing a 15" MBA would be much better than making the 15" MBP thinner.

Ha; I thought that was humorous. Since we don't exactly know what Apple has planned, this could be a futile exercise in semantics. Also, we can't reallychoose between two hypotheticals.

I think I would prefer power over package. "Let's make the 15 as small as we can, without skimping on power" makes much more sense to me than, "Hey, let's make a really huge ultra-compact laptop."

i am not sold on the macbook air glossy display. looks like the white macbook style. i prefer either the anti glare or glass macbook pro.

The MBP is probably the best designed laptop computer of all-time. The design doesn't age, literally looks great even 4 years passing by. Still looks the best out of any of the other laptops out there imo.

I couldn't agree more. Breathtakingly gorgeous.

I must have much different priorities.

Already secure and happy, I don't care if the Mac I use is accepted as cool or good looking by others.

I'm far too busy making money to care what it looks like.

In many ways I find style a problem for Apple. By making very good looking laptops they attract vain, insecure people who are only as good as the gear they're seen with.

I feel sorry for vain, self conscious, insecure people.

Posers, they sit at Starbucks waiting to be noticed. In the most extreme cases, these poor souls actually believe the girls are attracted to them because of their Mac. Flippin crazy.

Your assessment of these "posers" and your being too busy "making money" ironically makes you seem quite vain, self conscious and insecure. Otherwise you wouldn't find a need to point out your apathy due to "making money" as you say, nor would you bother judging and criticizing people you don't know because they use Macs at Starbucks or wherever they may be. In other words, you seem to care too much about other people's business to somehow claim to pity insecure and vain people.

And no, before you try spinning this on me, I've never used a Mac in a Starbucks to show off, although another's opinion on that matter doesn't matter to me. And I think your mindset is antiquated if you still think people use macs at Starbucks to show off. People use the products they have, if it's a Mac then so be it, it doesn't mean they're "posing" because you have some vain reservations about them.

Anyway both product lines are aesthetically at the top of their classes so it's difficult to call

Quite a feat I reckon. Not all that many consumer electronics devices tend to age so well. Probably something of a testament to Apple's design prowess that they still manage to keep the internal stuff current as well, though changing the chassis that houses them.

I have the 15 MBP, looks great but is a little chunky. I'm not a fan of the tapered look of the MBA and the ugly silver bezel totally destroys the look. Somewhere in between the 2 would be very nice. A smaller bezel around the screen and a consistent height for the base from front to back would look awesome. Ideally, take the current 13 inch pro, with a 15 inch screen and smaller bezel and take a few mm off the height, doesn't have to MBA thin.

I love the look of the 15" MacBook Pro but the 17" doesn't look as nice. I think it is due to the fact that the base is so wide so it looks a little "plain" with a keyboard sitting in the midst of all that aluminum.

I don't like the silver bezel on the MBA. I have a MBP glossy, but I chose the MBA for this poll because of it's thin, tapered design and no optical drive.

I just find the MBP more useful. I like the optical drive, for now, I like the ports and the black around the screen. I like the looks of the 13" and 15". The 17" does seem a bit large, but it has it's market. There's a lot of contention on the usefulness of the 13 MBP because of the MBA. I wonder what's going to happen there.

I think the illuminated keyboard returning to the MBA was a good choice, I would have voted no if it wasn't. It's a really nice touch.

I believe the future of laptops will look like the MBA.

I think the Macbook pro is pretty awesome looking, especially when its on one of those stands like the X-Stand.

This "X-Stand" is one of the most ridiculous-looking products I've seen lately. Just my opinion, but ... seriously?

X-Stand:

I own a MBP 13" and MBA 11.6".

Design wise, I think the MBP looks better.

I think the MBA 11.6" has the highest coolness factor. When I'm sitting in a coffee shop it gets way more attention than a 13" MBA or MBP.
