Atleast UPS is keep you updated and they have the set plans set. They even mentioned “UPS initiated contact with the receiver or the importer for clearance information and it is headed to Louisville, KY”.

I’m pretty sure “Importer” Apple has been notified.

You know, since they're still the importer until it gets to Louisville, I don't think they should be charging my card until it gets to Louisville, better yet when I take possession. Why does my first payment become due while it's still in China? Mine first payment hit while it was still sitting firmly on a Chinese facility floor. Hmm.

Sounds like you may have to place a call to Apple and let them know to reverse it. Also, ask for a freebie they will honor it for you. It sucks, it’s still stuck in China but that’s what makes the whole experience well worthy! It all comes down to being disciplined!

@LFC2020 Finally charging my Mac today. The last time it was charged was on 10/31/2021 - Halloween night Also, I didn't experience any issues. Charging my Mac 7 days later.

I got tired of shutting it down and turning it back on. No issues here mate.

Always seemed to me that the power required to boot a machine was far higher than that to leave it sleeping? Curious if I've been wrong the whole time. There' must be some crossover duration where one or the other is better.

Got home last night around 7:30p. Greeted the dogs - who were quite happy to see us, got the car unpacked, and then opened up my MBP. Still working on getting apps I want loaded back up - but quite happy with it so far.

A few observations:

• Size - 14" is perfect for what I was looking for. I wanted performance & power with mobility. I'd eyed up a 13" MBP in the past, but never pulled the trigger. Glad I waited. Its not as chunky as I had envisioned it being with all of the pics/videos I'd watched thus far. Its quite comfortable and actually a fantastic size/weight/thickness combination. I hope our friends at Apple are over the whole "make it thinner" phase.
• Screen - In a word - stunning. HDR videos on YouTube really showed off some of what its capable of. I'm floored. and I LOVE the thin bezels.
• Battery - Screen on time now approaching 4 hours of usage at various brightness levels (letting it auto adjust). I'm at 70% and haven't charged it yet.
• Magsafe - I'm so glad its back! Connected the cable to remind me how great it was - but haven't actually charged with it yet.

I'm so pleased with this purchase. Also - what notch? In all seriousness, its really the best spot they could put it. For my usage, the center of the menubar is really ideal. It's been great fun to watch everyone's reactions and tracking on this thread.

• 14" Silver MacBook Pro
• 1TB SSD
• M1 Pro 10-Core/16-Core GPU
• 32GB Unified Memory

Congrats!! I feel like I might have taken a similar path as you, been carrying the largest size I could get for as long as I've carried laptops, this 14" is the first one that is capable without the size. Check out https://apps.apple.com/us/app/display-menu/id549083868?mt=12 for the ability to use less anti-aliasing for more content on the screen. Sounds like you might appreciate it...

Doesn’t matter what size notebook, my workstation has an external keyboard. Even have one at home. Only time I’m pounding on the notebook’s keys when I’m traveling or a remote office.

Same. I have the keyboard plugged into the 5K and a Bluetooth dongle on the keyboard for the mouse to use. Now I can move the cable between machines and the keyboard and mouse follow together. I prefer the old wired keyboard as a result. The current magic keyboard is probably bluetooth with a charging cable, not a wired keyboard when it's plugged in...

Same. I have the keyboard plugged into the 5K and a Bluetooth dongle on the keyboard for the mouse to use. Now I can move the cable between machines and the keyboard and mouse follow together. when plugged into charging cable, magic keyboard is recognized as wired. back to wireless bluetooth when disconnected. instead of mice, use Magic Trackpad. Precise touch, as nature intended!

Nothing, LOL! I went to visit a shop to pick up some shoes and I figured I stop by an Apple store to see what's happening. It was overly crowded.

I also wanted to see the 14" model since @LasersGoPewPew has been admiring it. Glad, I went with the 16" model it's a perfect size

The charger is still preparing to ship. Maybe it will arrive next week?
