I added another purchase to my Apple Store history this morning, and have decided to upgrade from my 12 Pro Max to a 13 Pro. Now the 3-4 week shipping/waiting period begins. The trade-in value going down a bit is what pushed me to do it. And 120Hz, and I want a smaller phone again...

Sounds like he just puts it to sleep. That would be the simplest way.
So @LFC2020 is doing all this extra work for nothing... turning on and off for no reason... you gotta understand this is coming from a Senior Vice President. macOS Monterey is his baby. He created it. So he knows what's up.
The sleep mode is there for a reason!

Pro-Motion is amazing. It’s hard to go back to 60hz

Yea, once I'd seen it in person - I couldn't unsee it. Still will join for that preorder. Because of the trade-in on this, and going from larger to the now preferred smaller screen size, it actually its only $400 to upgrade. So it doesn't put as much squeeze on me for payoff before the 2022 iPhone 14 launch.
Right now, showing Dec 8-15. I'm sure it will be here before Christmas.

13 Pro, Sierra Blue, 256GB, SIM free/unlocked. Coming from 12 Pro Max, Silver, 256GB, unlocked.
My brother-in-law got the Sierra Blue. Seeing it in person really swayed me on it. Love how it changes ever so slightly in different light. Plus if I hate it long term, I'll likely only have it 10-11 months. ?
I can't go back, every product I have now iPad Pro, iPhone Pro Max, now the MBP 16" all have ProMotion. I literally will choose this screen over many easily now. The fans on this thing still haven't shown themselves. LOL.
Agree with you 100% it is very hard to go back. Hopefully, ProMotion kicks in on safari. Now, that would be cool.
That's what we're missing still, I hope they turn that on in a point update soon.

When you're comparing it to the Intel variants that need those fans at warp speed in order to reboot, I mean, its hard not to be impressed. ? My 2018 work-issued MBP just sits here embarrassed, as I work on a word doc with outlook open and its running nearly full tilt on fans...
First impressions with this new Mac:
- It feels much faster in comparison with my previous 16" i9. That Mac was very laggy on animations and general performance wasn't very good.
- I have seen some users complaining about low refresh rate on web browsers. In my case, all browsers are running at 120 Hz without any issues. I am running Monterey 12.0.1.
- Battery life is INSANE. It has dropped a 25% while running for 2:30h. That time I have been installing all my necessary software.
- It does not produce any heat. My old 16" i9 MBP was a furnace in comparison with this one.
- I use this computer for software development (VSCode, Android Studio and Flutter) and all software is working fine.

That's how it reads to me. I just shut down all programs and close the lid when done (in sleep mode), and reboot entirely once a week. Old habits from past laptops.
