Anyone in here played around with this beast?

Checked my Apple store app and my Mac has shipped! Coming with DHL - estimated delivery is December 3rd. Up from 9th to 16th initial estimate, really happy with that

I originally ordered an M1 Max on October 20th, but canceled it on Nov 4th and re-ordered an M1 Pro. My projected ship date didn't change very much. It was originally late November to early-mid December. When I canceled and re-ordered, it slipped to Dec 6th -12th.

I just received a ship notification today with an expected delivery date of December 3rd for my Nov 4th order.

Ouch! this is painful to witness.

I guess that's one of the drawbacks to having everything on one chip when there are chip manufacturing bottlenecks! It only does that if you order the 64GB Max (either size).

Also I just saw an expedited shipping option that I haven't seen before. On the base config models, you can pay a delivery fee and get it a week earlier.

You mean a day earlier?

Unfortunately no movement for me. Looks like I’ll have to wait for Monday. I don’t know why!?

This is great to hear. I put an order in for an 14" M1 Pro at the second standard configuration on 11/5 - so hope I see a ship notice or Apple Card Charge tomorrow.

Oddly enough, my card hasn't been charged yet! Do they only charge you when it's in the hands of the shipper? I'm just at the shipping request created phase.

PREPARING TO SHIP!! I turned on my iphone this morning and saw a message from the apple store saying they took out the money from my apple card account(Also says its pending and will get the 3 percent cash back, not sure if Im supposed to do that now or wait til the actual charge appears on my account)
So excited..I did NOT chat with apple yesterday so decided to wait til today to see what would happen and here we are..ya all dont think(I know Im super paranoid) that because I was chatting with apple like once a week asking about my order that they wont send me a new one right LOL ..I guess it will ship from China that is what I should be on the lookout for?

:sigh:

Shipping status went from Monday delivery to Rescheduled.

Mine went from Wednesday (Dec 1) to this also. Hopefully it’s only a minor hiccup

If yours are all from FDX, I might have a reason why.. and it isn't pretty...

You may want to call FDX and see if any of the packages recovered may be yours.

Well, PayPal finally shows my payment to Apple as completed, though my bank still shows it as a pending transaction. Payment went into pre-authorization early morning Nov 22.

I received shipping notice email from Apple ~2:00AM my time Nov 25. Not surprisingly, based on plenty of anecdotes in this thread alone, UPS still has no info about my tracking number in their system.

Apple order page still says Arrives Mon Dec 6, so we'll see. This won't be real to me until I can actually track this through UPS, hahahahaha! ?

Last night, my tracking number started working and UPS updated my delivery date to 12/1 (up the 12/3 delivery date on my original shipped email). Let’s hope there are no delays…

I stopped using a keyboard cover on my Mac notebooks over 10 years ago. They were a pain, took away from the feel of the notebook, and were clunky. Sure, the keys get worn down over time - but what's the purpose of keeping it pristine? Wipe it down occasionally, and live your life. It'll show some character, and IMO, that's a good thing. Resale value will be impacted very minimally to none by a pristine keyboard. It's never talked about practically, and is universally accepted in all the sales of Macs that I've had.
Think this is a very good perspective. I know we all like keeping our Macs in pristine shape, what with leather sleeves and what not. But I think there's a limit to what's reasonably worth the hassle, and I agree that keyboard / trackpad covers would be over-the-line for me. Even more so given that these could actually have a negative effect on the screen if you leave them on when closed.

To me, it's somewhat similar to keeping the "plastic" on remote controls or sofas (like the funny stereotype of the baby boomer generation). Not worth it at the end of the day.

For me, the one thing I try to do is wash my hands before I start using my MBP. And try not to eat while working on it. I think avoiding those scenarios will get you 95% of the way there in keeping the kb/trackpad in more than good enough shape years down the road.
