I wonder if "extra long" battery means lifespan, or actual, physically longer. If I remember correctly, the early leaked photos indicated a battery that was physically longer.

SO that cheap $300 compaq looking thing is really the $4000 Macbook Pro ? Except minus the extra ports and firewires that the compaq has ? Cool. Also Apple isn't updating the Macbook ? Awesome. Once the Macbook is updated it won't have firewire ? Genius.

I still have difficulty believing Apple would promise more aggressive price points, only to drop the pirce of one model and raise the price of the other one.

it doesnt say extra long battery life. it just says "extra long battery"....
Well, perhaps the physical battery will be longer, not the actual battery life.
please god. someone tell me. how long do these take to get. i have a powerbook g4 12" for over 3 years and it finally died completely 3 weeks ago. thats three weeks of the four weeks i have off work and school to record music GONE!!
i need to get my new macbook asap, ive been like hitting refresh @ macrumors and appleinsider everyday. now that the rumors have pretty much spelled out whats generally happening, my BIG BIG QUESTION IS
when can i buy one? how long does it usually take? the article says in transit. would that mean like, tomorrow at 10 am i can buy one? or, i have to wait til the next day? or like 10 dyas?

Yeah I think it will be a huge selling point to have an enormous battery that is like 36 inches long so when you're carrying it in a bag or something it sticks out the side and you're clubbing people as you walk down a hallway with it.
That's one for me too. Hopefully they're the current keys on MBP, not chiclet.

Each time I see that photo of the MBP, I think back to the old Titanium PowerBook...

There is no way that those leaked "photos" are real. Its a freaking MacBook Air keyboard and an iMac screen with some really bad shadow work.
The closed shot is even worse, where the lid does not even match up to the base because its the lid of an Air photoshopped onto a mockup of the leaked case.

well, i guess nothing is really "real" until we see it tomorrow, but pics have been "confirmed" real. i wouldnt put my money on it being different from the pics at this point...
Give me a f'n headless Mac that's bigger than the Mac mini and allows me to upgrade the PCI-E 2.0 card and HDD. We're not asking it to canibalize Mac Pro sales as it won't come close to the Xeon and it's expansion, dual GigE, etc.
Just something that allows one to add a second box for development without buying into a f'n laptop or a f'n iMac full desktop or a f'n Mac Pro.

Differentiate on graphics and DisplayPort. Leave the basic FW alone. Otherwise, people will have to buy a card to slot in, which shouldn't happen.
If that is the PRO on the front page and there is no matte 1920x1200 option I will be disappointed not to be able to buy a new machine. Sadly the MacBook may have no Firewire so that as my second machine, that will be is off the list as well. Nice going Apple.
