Omni OPTIVAL® Via Ramseeker.com Is Best Cheapest RAM $74.99/GB Stick

in light of the advice given, i'm wondering what RAM I should buy after market, Manufacturers name etc. seems money will be tight until September, I gather this can void the warranty?
Omni OPTIVAL® Via Ramseeker.com Is Best Cheapest RAM. Search at top for MacBook Pro (same ram) then click on money link in chart across from Omni OPTIVA:® line to get to Omni with the lower price of $74.99 per GB stick to buy there. Only by following this path will you be able to get this price.

This WILL NOT VOID your warranty.

NOTE: This instruction has been repeatedly posted here and all who have bought from Omni have reported complete satisfaction. :)

What about putting my documents and manuscripts on CD or DVD, isn't that a good backup? I have many CD's with stuff I have no need to access quickly
Yes that's fine.

MacBooks are SOOO FAST. Ok maybe not that fast, maybe SOOOO FAST. And I love the Glossy screens.

The folks over at 123Macmini have had good luck with the Patriot ram available at NewEgg. A few dollars more (currently at $78.99), but another decent option.

Thank you all! Got a good deal on a demo with a scratch or two on the bottom. Black with 1gig of RAM.... in hog heaven... why do DVD-R not work on this machine?

What Price Was Your Black Demo Deal With Scratches? DVD-R Should Work.

What price did you get it for? DVD-R should work just fine. Are you using Toast 7?

Never heard of Toast 7 till I googled it, as I said, this wiped me out financially till September. Used Fujifilm DVD-R, 4.7 GB..up to 8 x... got error messages twice and the discs were rejected when I tried them again, I guess they were already initialized? I can't afford to keep this up not knowing why

Could Be A Bad Superdrive. Call Applecare For Repair. It Was Used.

You keep NOT TELLING what price you got it for. Please?

Call Applecare for a repair ticket. Get Toast 7 as soon as you can. It's essential. :)

Elvis is alive, and sending a MB to my house

New MB (white, 1 G, 80G) just cleared Memphis, via Anchorage, and is heading this way. Woo. Hoo.

Damn these toys make you feel like a kid again.

Have to skip outta work either manana or the next to intercept it.

heh

Can the 2Ghz white MB read dual layer DVD's? If so, is it the same superdrive as the base 2Ghz MBP?

My Black MB reads DL discs, but cannot write. :(
According to the TechSpec, it's the same as 15" MBP. 17" MBP has 8x SuperDrive that also writes DL discs.

In about a year, I'm sure some third-party manufacturer would come up with an upgrade-kit. I just need the motivation to take my MB apart when it becomes available. But then, I already have an external 16x DL drive...

Day 2, new MB

Out on my new deck, beside my new pool, playing w/my new MB. (White, 1 GB, 80 GB, SD, just drop dead gorgeous.)

On the other hand, same old job, same old truck, same old dips--- president.

Well, batting .500, not so bad.

BTW, I believe the "discoloration" evidence is a hoax, however, the bu--heads telling others to use Brillos pads on their new MBs are pretty funny.

well, nothing is ever simple! Thought is was something I did, the damn Superdrive just plain doesn't burn DVDs... my guru tried everything.. while I set up his Stratocaster....

wonky screen

Hi guys/girls,

I'm a bit worried about my Macbooks casing. It is as though the screen has been put on on an angle - being flush on the left hand side but sticking out and not matching up on the right.

.

It has not had any rough and tumble treatment and is barely 20 days into my ownership so I can only assume this is an manufacturing fault.

I have two questions a) has anyone else seen this issue, and, b) is this sort of thing covered under Apple's warranty as the computer still runs perfectly.

Looking at the picture again I think I should explain that what is shown is the front of the Macbook with the magnetic latch, not the back of the Macbook with the hinge. Obviously the back is also out in a similar fashion but it's more obvious from the front.

But I think you are right Multi and I'll look into getting it fixed. I hate being without my computer whilst it gets fixed, always seems to take over a week!

there may be an issue. as apple my say that it was your fault that the screen is tilted. unless you tell them it came that way. and try to argue it out. but when we had a harddrive problem they said it would not be covered because there was noticable damage to the screen and the screen, like yours, was shifted.

but if you have no marks on the case then i think you can get it fixed.

I just got off the phone with Apple about the issue; they gave me a case number and told me to head into a Mac centre. I'm always cautious about doing this in Australia as they make you sign a $65 waver stating that if something is not actually a warranty issue, you will pay them a service fee of $65. So whilst there is obviously a problem, it still might be within spec! Anyway the guys at Apple have assured me that it shouldn't be an issue and to ring them back if they try and charge me.

I have to say I only got my iMac G5 back last week after having it's monitor and powersupply replaced (all under warranty), my first mac, an eMac, was DOA and I've had two ipods die on me - one a week out of warranty the other one was completely replaced - I would really like a non defected product experience from Apple as I haven't had one yet!

Issue with the Macbook Spacebar

Yet another issue - this one I'd really like to know if it is the case with every Macbook.

When I press on the spacebar as shown in the picture, it doesn't register. It also feel a lot less secure than the same point on the opposite end of the space bar. Otherwise the button works perfectly just in this little area apx 4mm wide in the bottom right hand corner.

Can someone else with a Macbook cheek this out please:
