All very nice.

Integrated graphics is a bit of a shame, but not the end of the world. The premium for the black one is taking the piss a bit though. Naughty naughty.

Seriously, the balck looks nice, but not $200 nicer than the white.

And on top of that in the Pro really worth that much more than the 13" mid level white?

Good stuff.

****, now I wanna upgrade my iBook G3...can you guys donate me some money? ;)

A black one for me, please!

p.s.: oh yeah, no Merom chip...the MacBook is already obsolete for some..! :p

Now all that remains is the PowerMac, and what, its not even half way through 2006! good work apple!

on a side note, is 1.83ghz to 2.0ghz that much of a jump? not curiouis about the macbook, but rather that my 3 week old MBP has been made redundant :p

At last! :D
So, they will only show the new store on Thursday then, or maybe also some new iPods.

This is awesome! except for the back price??? Bizzare.
I'm pumped, I can't wait to get one!!!
Sorry for all my BULLSH%*! With all the delays, I refused to believe....
This post should be funny.

Bravo - Way Faster Than Anyone Predicted and 1280 wide x 800 high. Excellent! :)

DVI Out - Gigabit Ethernet. Man this is one hell of a Yonah winner!! :D

$150 Premium For Black Model. :(

120 GB HD in White is $1549

120 GB HD in Black is $1699

First Aluminum Fall 2003 15" PowerBooks are 1280 x 854. Pretty good 12" PB replacement.

Still looking for Spanning capability? Anyone find that yet?

Is that what you're looking for?

Extended desktop and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 1920 x 1200 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors

My worries:

Will it scratch as easily as Ipods?

I'm guessing you need at least 1GB memory, but something also tells me that still isn't enough,

Is it just me, or is the base MBP starting to look a bit poor on the VFM front. If you don't need a separate graphics card and are happy with a smaller display, a white Superdrive MacBook can be specced up with an 80GB HDD for about $650 less than a MBP (although the speedbump has improved matters for the 15" MBP)...

I think the $150 difference for a paint job is a little much. It only cost $50 to upgrade a white one to the same specs so why the extra flow for a black one?

you are on right, 200 is too much for the black one

i'm a bit surprised for the 2ghz dual core, i was expecting 1.66 or 1.83, 2ghz is a surprise

White 2.0GHz is definitely the sweet spot. Paying a premium for the black hardly seems worth it to me. Is black that popular? From reading forums, most folks seemed to prefer white anyway.

I'll be making a trip to my Apple Store before 10AM today. I'll post some picts later today once I get the 100GB 7200RPM HD installed. :) Going for the white 2.0 model. :D :D :D :D :D :D

And for all of you that said core solo in the low model, well :p .

And for all of you that said integrated graphics, well  . (But I'll gladly trade the dedicated graphics for: faster processor (2.0 instead of 1.66), less heat, longer battery life. Plus DVI out. I sure hope spanning is allowed and not just stuck on video mirroring.

This MacBook is AWESOME!

Apple charges $500  for two 2 x 1GB dimms (replacing the 2 x 256MB). Good thing I got my pair of Mushkin 1GB modules for $70 each, plus I can eBay the old ones.

Anyone got the UK store back up yet? I want to buy one!:(

I have.

Very impressed that a 2GHz CD is available. Just a shame there is no option for a better graphics card - the specs almost seem a bit unbalanced. But I guess Apple don't see the need for a small pro machine.

If you read apple.com...It tells you that:

Hmmm, do they expect former PowerBook 12" owners to actually buy this? Apparently they do, because I saw a few references in the tech specs to xxx on the MacBook being better than xxx on the iBook/12" PowerBook. Unfortunately, I don't want a plastic laptop or integrated graphics. The specs are great, for an iBook. But there's still a product gap where a 12/13" MBP needs to go. Oh well, guess I keep waiting...

Great...but the weight??

Now don't flame me: They are gorgeous machines, and it is not my intent to whine (too much!) but is anyone else a little dissapointed that they weigh in at 5.2lbs? That is only a sliver less than the 15.4" MBP...and this has a 13" screen!!

Asus and others are putting better specs into 4.5lb machines...why shouldn't Apple be able to?

I'd say the only surprise/ disappointment for me is the "glossy" screen. I really dislike the glossy PC notebook screens. I suppose the brightness will take care of it but my eyes are getting sketchy and I hate any kind of reflectiveness on the screen.

the GMA 950 with Core Duo is MUCH BETTER than the Radeon 9200 with G4...there is no comparison in terms of performance...I would've preferred dedicated GPU, but this is MacBook...the only similar offering from Sony is much more expensive, with a hybrid GPU system...

Remember the latest crop of iBooks had Radeon 9550's in them to support Core Image. I still think that GMA 950 will actually eek out comparable, if not ever-so-slightly better performance than the 9550, but just wanted to point that out.

Remember folks, despite Apple upgrading a lot of the specs to make the Macbook much more of a mid-way notebook that could adequately replace the 12" Powerbook, it is still placed as the entry level laptop. If you want to game and you want a Mac, then you really should be going for a MacBook Pro. Those won't have integrated graphics anytime soon.

They can charge a premium for black as we all want that colour. It'll be interesting to see if the price falls for the black once the rush has died down.

Cheers to Apple, it isn't even halfway 2006 (when they said the transition would begin) and nearly all products with the exeption of the PowerMac are intel. Very good job, very nice products.

Just about to buy a black one, stock standard grab 2 1gb dimms and she'll be rocking like no other.

Vintegrated graphics or no integrated graphics, products like these make Apple, apple, the best

A lot of computer for the money. It's like a mini-intel-powerbook. The new 12" powerbook.

The 12" powerbook was like an aluminium ibook. Now they don't call it pro anymore, and it's black instead of aluminum.

Same CPU speeds. The highres widescreen, and isight. I want one, like an ipod, but don't neeed it. I should get a MacBook Pro instead.

But you can get a Mac Mini and Macbook for less than a Macbook Pro! Or an iMac and low end Macbook for less than the high end 15" MBP. hmm....
