Hey i know that I am a mac fanboy and do some slight exaggerating to get my point across.

But all you are MS fanboys who do the same thing by proclaiming that mac users are paying $1000 for OS X

LOL, i'll stop spreading false information when MS Fansboy Stop on a MAC website.

Yep people make no sense. Your paying $1000 for a complete system. OS X is what $79 $120. Yes you can hack it to run on a PC. Is it legal (not according to the EULA), do people care (appearantly not)

No - there's too many digital cameras that are FW400.

FW800 though, I could see them dumping that and putting in an eSata port on the pro (not on the MB).

I just hope you don't have to buy one of the overly large 17" models to get the good GPU/HD options.

I was thinking the same thing about the 17" model. i have this bad feeling this unit will have everything we want but it will cost us.

Guys, go to dell or HP's sites and build a workstation laptop. Put Vista Ultimate (to match Leopard) and MS Office basic (to match iLife) in an and then match all the hardware features. If its more than $100 less than a Macbook Pro I'll shoot myself. Plus you're not getting a webcam or a backlit keyboard.

And you laptop will be ugly as f@#k and weigh 3 or 4 pounds more. **** Apple is more expensive.

Try it yourself. I've priced HP's dozens of times. HP's with similar or better specs than the MBP come out to at least $1000 less than the 17" MBP. And some people don't care too much about looks. Or weight, if they tend to use their computer in one spot and just want it light enough to be practical to carry.

Okay, I see what you're doing. When we called you out on your ridiculous fanboyism, you gave up entirely and decided to become a troll with horrendously stupid pseudo "argumentation".

youre a smart guy

PEOPLE, PLEASE DONT LISTEN TO JOHNASMITH1914:D

in all seriousness, the new Dell laptop looks good and i would buy it if macbooks dont come out soon...

but the one thing i worry about is buying a PC and all of a sudden Windows 7 comes out.

I thought you were a crazy Mac fanboy who argued for Macs despite all attempts at logic and reasoning. And now you're talking about buying a PC?

i just don't like when function sacrifices for aesthetics.

hm, you do realize this is apple? home to "sd-slots on a macbook, dont be silly", "we dont need more than those three buttons on the remote", "right click button? bullsh..." (at least fixed that one, only took two decades to come up with the mighty mouse)

As long as Apple beats those new offerings from Sony, I'll be very happy! The Z, SR, FW, and soon to be released AW have an amazing design and specs! I love how Sony eliminated the excess border around the screen, particularly in the 13inch models. PLEASE APPLE! DO ELIMINATE THAT BORDER.

NO WAY. i really like the border. i can imagine it would look quite weird without one...

Am i being reasonable with buying macs until Windows 7 comes out???

Good post.

It seems like lately, people have started to argue with reason, actually proving why a PC is a better buy. I think people are smartening up are realizing how much the Apple tax really is. If you think it's worth paying 2x the price for similar specs of a comparable PC, fine, but at least consider how much OS X is worth for you before just buying a Mac.

Heres the thing, at least for me and those who absolutly LOVE osx its deffinatly worth it. The OSX evironment makes computer useage more enjoyable to me, i dont know why but for me personally, it does.

You can say a PC is the better by financially, but to me its just not worth it with all the hassle you encounter. Yes i have SP1 Vista on a machine that should be more than capable of handling it, yet i still constantly have issues with my sound control (just stops working, may be a toshiba driver issue, but idk at this point) but the one that really gets me is when my explorer.exe crashes (no exageration, i have a tally up on my wall) at least 5 times a day. Ive done all the troubleshooting i can without having to bring it to someone who supposedly knows what their doing (i dont want to sound like i have an ego, but being a 17 year old tech geek i DO know more about the workings of a computer than most techs ive talked to at certain stores and repair places.). Yes vista doesnt deserve ALL the negative tlk it gets but it is by no means a fun experience, where i feel OSX is. I'd pay a $1000 premium any day rather than having to put up with the pesky problems throughout the life of the computer (and yes, i plan on keeping my soon to be owned macbook at least 5 years, my aunts (2001?) powerbook g4 is still running AMAZINGLY on only 512 mb RAM, I personally have not come across a laptop that has taht longentivity and then still retains an amazing resell value for its age).

In summary, OSX to me is worth the premium alone, and thats not even considering all the great little goodies such as ichat with isight (it still blows my mind how well they work) and slot loading.

While yes, finacially, PC is the way to go, for me in terms of enjoyability Mac is where its at. This is of course AFTER the upgrades, i cant see paying that price for the current gen when they are that outdated (yet still run swimingly).

Just a rant from a soon to be mac user :p

Sorry Losers,

PCs cost the same as Macs.

Not on that site, they don't. I just speced a macbook pro, 2.5 gh processor against a Sager 2.53 ghz processor and the Sager costs $2019. The Macbook was $2,499. $2,499>$2,019.

Now, that doesn't mean I wouldn't pay the premium to get the better (in my humble opinion) user experience of OS X. I absolutely would (and have.)

Back to the car analogy (tired though it is) both the BMW and the Ford are made of basically the same steel, rubber, oil and fabric. The difference is in the design effort that is put into one, and not so much the other.

Actually, I think the Voodoo Envy 133 uses the same processor.

right-o!

Intel started selling the air's "custom" (read, was a pet project sitting on a shelf for sometime then intel decided it would fit apples specs) processor a few months ago.

since everyone is offering opinions i might as well throw my 2 cents in

pc and mac costs. It is about features. I have had a few hp laptops both have had the power adapter broken from the motherboard. To fix it, the motherboard is replaced. Sometimes you can buy the part on ebay and solder it back on and that may or may not work. I have tried this twice and have never gotten it to work. This is also not covered by accidental damage coverage. The mag safe adapter will not allow this to happen so that feature to me is worth $300 to $500( the cost of another motherboard).

And yet with the Mag Safe power adaptor, you get both fraying and a constant serious fire hazard.

Take your pick.
