MacBook Shipments Have Begun?

what i've heard is new macbooks, macbook pros & cinema displays coming next month. i would imagine they'll announce them before the actual date they're in the stores, which will be the 3rd week of Oct, so that puts the Oct 14th date as the likely announcement date.

EDIT: the rumor of a cheap, entry level macbook is true, too. not sure what the pricepoint is.

AppleInsider points to an October Apple event for the notebooks. They also say iMacs in November.

Look at the Mac Pro. It's all built to ordert, there's thousands of ways how the final setup can be. And you can go from moderately expensive to outragiously overpowered and priced. :)

MobileMe, Cinema Displays, Mac Pro, new Mighty Mouse with re-design that is actually useful, maybe a new Mac Tablet device etc.
 
I can see the updates for the MacBook line coming in October, but I hope it is the 14th cuz I will treat myself to a MBP for my birthday, just over a week earlier and I don't want to wait that long or I'll be waiting forever again. iMacs could see a speed bump in November. I don't expect any revision in terms of the iMacs looks even though they were just bumped in April. Feels like yesterday, but I guess its been a while.
Come on Apple I need a new laptop for school. At least I got my iMac to hold me down till then!

Well, it's a start.

Consider this: the iPod Classic has 120 GB of storage. With an average of 4 MB per song, that's 30.000 songs. Buy it all from iTunes and you've spent 29.700 Dollars, or even worse, 29.700 Euros. :D

Apple can charge 1-2 thousand dollars just for adding the word "Pro" to a laptop (and sure, adding some features). I think they may be unwilling to give that up.

Actually you do agree with me. You are just leaving out the bottom basement Macbook without the blu-ray drive. Thats the Macbook they market to switchers, I hope it will be $799. You can get this type of notebook for $600 from any other manufacturer, that still gives Apple its $200 markup, but a real possibility at switchers for whom price actually matters. (...imagine that, people who care about their money?)

Haha. Not that it's a bad idea, but I can just hear the hoots from the Mac community if Jobs were to make an improved Mighty Mouse the focus of a MWSF keynote. No, if Apple updates all of its Macs (Pro/mini aside) before then, there had better be something with the impact of a Mac Touch coming, or there's going to be a lot of disappointment in the ranks.

Or a new Mini.

If almost the whole line-up is getting updated before Christmas then I'd guess they'd be saving something major for MacWorld. Either:

A) Have a whole new device to debut (Touch Tablet or whatever)

or

B) Have a major revamp for an existing product (like the Mini)

And I don't think a new Mighty Mouse is that unfeasible an idea. If they did unveil a new Mini Jobs could say "...and it's shipping with the new Mighty Mouse...")

But then what do I know? I'm just a schmuck with a dream... (stares out of the window at the rain- moody music)

doesn't matter, a disc is optical

Whether people want to hear it or not, in a few years from now, we won't be carrying discs around for movies or software anymore. However, this does not mean that the internet will be our source for everything. Picture it, software and movies being sold digitally on flash devices like memory cards rather than optical discs. All we'd have to do it is plug it in and done! Like many others said, optical drives will disappear soon. Accept it. Blu-ray and other optical media will be short lived.

HAHA omg that's so funny. :)

I've been waiting so long for this and that right there sums up my massive frustration with apple. Hopefully this aggresive pricing is truely aggressive,
also i hope they make a stronger wifi to counter the aluminum
800mhz bus on macbooks (1gb stock ram if 667mhz)
1066mhz on macbook pros (800mhz ram with 2gb would mean the PRO=PERFORMANCE instead of professional)

end of my problem with mac laptops!!! :apple:

i would not like for the notebook line to be merged simply because even if the configurations would be great i do not want to have the same exterior looking laptop as some one that paid 1000 for theres when i paid 2800 for mine

the entry level need to have physical destinctions besides screen size and ports and specs....

the only way i would be happy would be that something like the $1800+
would come in polished black aluminum then i would pay for it and not be upset about the cheaper different color out there??

i know its shallow but come one some other people out there must think the same...

i know some people are going to not like my opinion but i would like a lil bit better looking computer for more of my money...


what do you guys think ?????

I want mine carbon fiber with gold-plated latches and pink LED lighting along all 4 sides. :D
