Try ordering a german, swedish, french, norwegian, or danish keyboard on the UK store. :p

I'm perfectly happy with the US one, I'm typing on one like that right now :). I agree I'm lucky, US keyboard layout is the standard in Poland, we just make special signs with alt. Though I still can't figure out why Apple is offering only ISO (UK, international English) one here, since no one else does?

...maybe releasing it tomorrow makes sense...if the consider all the debates about the Google Android as an "iPhone killer" which should be released tomorrow

I think you're grasping at straws there.

My guess is that the only way a "stealth" update happens is that there is no case redesign. If there's nothing new to see maybe they don't care about having an event, but if there are going to be snazzy new designs Steve will probably want to play it up to the media.

They might think that europeans, when speaking english, tend to use the british english, not the american?

No, I really don't know.

WRONG.

The current MacBooks were released with no special event whatsoever. Everyone went to sleep Monday night and woke up to find newly revamped MacBook's on Apples website Tuesday morning.

Case closed. kthx bai.

I know that. I was not speaking historically, only about the present situation.

But in fact the current Macbooks did not have much of a case redesign anyway.

Good evening,

First post here! Should be my first macbook soon.
As I've become addicted the gossip and speculation towards the new macbook; i have some information to add of my own.

This morning i checked all my local bestbuys and they had a few macbooks available.
This evening i called again, and they are as of 6:00pm UNAVAILABLE! =)

I know a few other people posted this aswell, but the thought of a new macbook has me inspired.

Hi people! I came across this thread (and forum) the other day whilst digging for the latest on the new macbooks! I've been wanting a laptop for years, but waited til I had a place at Uni so that it didn't become obselete...Yes, I'm tight-fisted :D. And of course it had to be a Mac. I am literally busting (like you lot it seems :) ) for the new one to come out!! My hard-earned cash is burning a hole in my bank account...

I'm hoping that the most powerful new macbook (not pro- need 13" screen) will be within budget (though at the same time I doubt it ) - I need it for architecture CAD programs ;)

More signs are pouring in! That's got to be good! Well now we may be pretty sure of impending updates, even if they're not on September 23 specifically.

Currys, Dixons and PC World (DSG group) have ran out of Macbook stocks for the past week. I've been keeping an eye out ;).

On another note, I was speaking to an employee of an Apple store and he said that they don't find out until the actual day when they sign on to their systems in regards to if there are any new releases for the day.

when i got my iphone 3g i didnt talk to my grilfriend for a week.
if the macbooks come out tomorow, i should be single by the weekend.

Maybe...
  • Similar pricepoints
  • Case redesigns as rumored
  • 2.27/2.4 GHz MacBook, 2.53/2.8 GHz MacBook Pro
  • 16:9 displays (14" 1366*768 MacBook, 16" 1600*900 and 18" 1920*1200 MacBook Pro)
  • NVIDIA chipset, possible bus/RAM speed differences between the MacBook and MacBook Pro (1333/1067 MHz?)
  • Integrated GPU for the MacBook, low-end or lower-midrange (9300M/9500M?) GPU for low-end MacBook Pro, midrange GPU (9500M/96x0M?) for the other MacBook Pros), similar VRAM
  • HDD bump, not too big, but a bump nontheless
  • 2 GB RAM and SuperDrive standard across all models (except for a really cheap MacBook)
  • Two MacBook models (current MacBooks would be two except for the black version which is basically the midrange one with a bigger HD) at $1199/$1499, and a really cheap one for <$1000.
  • Three MacBook Pro models, two 15", one 17"
  • MacBook goes sub-1", MacBook Pro gets a little bit thinner
And what I think is on the unrealistic side:
  • Thick MacBook Pro, 20" MacBook Pro, MacBook Pro with *7**, *8** GPU, etc.
  • Blu-ray
  • Big price drops
  • Extreme CPU
  • Quad-core CPU
  • 13"/14" MacBook Pro
  • 15"/16" MacBook
  • MacBook with discrete GPU
  • MacBook Pro with integrated GPU :)p)

Precisely.

thanks man

Haha, same with my ipod touch! My mum is amazed at how oblivious surfing the net on a tiny screen makes me to what she's saying

So I just checked the Apple store's refurbished mac section. I checked it earlier today and there was the typical amount of units available there, one or two different configurations on most models. After checking just now, there seems to be just about every model with many more configurations represented at a "refurbished" price.

It may be nothing, but it seemed odd to me how many more models are available there now. And as a side-note, some of the deals there now are great for the current MB/MBP. Could Apple be clearing out old inventory and trying to keep it quiet by putting it up as refurb?

So what given the current situation makes you think that an event is required for a redesign?

Remember I said it was a guess. I wouldn't say it was required, but I believe Apple would want to push newly-designed 'books to get as much media attention as possible. Apple's laptop share is on the rise so I think it's something they would want to do for marketing reasons. (But I would be just as happy as anyone else to be wrong and see new Macbooks released tomorrow.)

Wrong again. Just about everything changed besides the case material.

They were (and still are, except for the Blackbook) very similar in appearance to the iBook/Powerbooks. But whatever reason they had for not making more noise about the product introduction then, I am not comparing the two situations.

I concur

I agree, Apple is most likely going to want to attract media to the new macbooks. On the other hand, I wouldn't be upset if they were released tomorrow either. (Possible although, unfortunately, not probable:()

Have faith. We need to sound out the vibes to Steve :D
