It's looking good!

Both out of stock of all Macbooks and MB Pro's.

Surely Apple won't wait too long, or they'll just be losing potential sales.

Also, if theres any students here after microsoft software - check out www.software4students.co.uk - Full MS Office for mac, 2008 edition for £35 instead of the £379 retail!

That didn't seem to phase Apple when iPhone supplies dried up before the July 11 launch of iPhone 3G. Didn't seem to hurt the bottom line either!

I feel that Sept 30th is wishful thinking like the 16th was.
I don't think it would be fair to US customers to give UK customers a cheap iPod and new laptop!

Fair? Fair?

In the UK (and the rest of Europe for that matter) we get screwed over on prices from Apple in the first place. It would be about time to give Europe a bit of a bargain over the US.

Generally things are more expensive in Europe than the US, i wouldn't say its just Apple products.

I would also say that the US is one of Apple's biggest buyers.

Mbp

Hi,

This is my first post here, and I'm from Portugal!! :)

I'm a PC user for about 20 years now. and I'm thinking on taking the big step and change to MAC machine, MBP.
The primary use I give to my PC's is on running 3D mechanical Software, Solidworks and other CAD software, but I use most of the MS office programs and of course, surfing on the NET, Email, etc. ...
why am I thinking MAC....
1 - Good Integration of Hardware components
2 - Stable OS, to use with everything except de 3d CAD software I need to run
3 - Current version working in dual boot can Run Windows XP or Vista, even better that a normal/good PC would. So people say... I never have the opportunity to see one MAC running windows in action.

I have some questions to make for you guys.

- Is possible to use the touchpad like in a windows laptop without the right botton?
- It's possible that apple can change so much the current hardware so that windows cannot run natively on a MAC machine? People are saying that apple will change to another chipset manufacturer with some proprietary chips.

Another big issue is, I have to buy one machine until the end of October, not even a day more. and I'm not buying the current one, because I think you should by always the last model for a lot of reasons I don't want to discuss here. BUT, that's a great shot in the dark, because other company's, I don't know about apple, use this first buyers has "TESTERS" for their hardware, and that very dangerous, because a good MBP can reach easily a lot more than 2000 EUROS. Does apple ever done that With there computers ( forget the iphone ;) )

Please give me your opinions, and sorry for the English ....

No.

It is fine.
Well, I think if they do get a re-design, there might be a chance of problems until the next update after that. The first generation MacBook and MacBook Pro are a good example.
But honestly, I think the new Macs will be fine. Keep your fingers crossed that they will be here soon. :)

Better. It is an option you have to turn on, but... you just touch the trackpad with two fingers, and that is a "right-click." Also, you can touch-and-drag with two fingers and that acts as a scroll. That feature is unbelievably useful. It is better than a mouse with scroll-wheel because you don't even have to move your hand from the keyboard area.

Never. The fact that they can run Windows is one of their strongest selling points. They have no reason to give that up.

Hi,

Another big issue is, I have to buy one machine until the end of October, not even a day more. and I'm not buying the current one, because I think you should by always the last model for a lot of reasons I don't want to discuss here. That's true with a lot of consumer products, namely auto's. But with Apple's computer line they always seem to be solid from day one. The glitches and hic-ups they had with the initial conversion to intel are gone. Also they test their products for a long time before introduction (this is why we see apple late to the game right now on CPU, Controller, Graphics swtich over). If I was in your shoes I'd hold out as long as I could. And use Parallels to "wrap" up your current PC into an appliance you can boot up under the Mac. There are a lot of 3D Cad apps that are dual platform as well.

What your doing is what I do with my customers when switching to the Mac. They run pretty much everything under OS X for the reasons stated - Stable, faster, easier, more intuitive, etc.. - and run Parallels or VMWare for their Windows only applications. Productivity increases are obvious and after a couple days users always ask why they didn't do this in the first place.

i think oct14th is the day
if not, then macworld, but that would very paintfull:(
right?

To be honest, I think that here in the uk we deserve a cheapnipod and new laptop, after all the base MacBook here is £699 and in america it's $1099, so basically we pay an extra $300. The uk is a rip off.

wow,1767 posts, shows the demand for these new laptops.

That is almost as many posts I have overall.

By the way, do you gentlemen think that since the new MacBook will be aluminium that might be confused by people with the MacBook Air in real life?

I think apple is looking to make their products all resemble each other in someway, essentially letting people immediatly know its a apple product.

I would say from a distance, yes, but close up the MacBook will be a lot thicker.

right?

Not necessarily. As I've said before, I really can't see Apple not updating their products before Christmas it would be insane to leave the notebooks without an update for nearly a year! I don't think they've ever left it that long, have they?

The Aluminum MacBooks will be released in October, according to the Apple employee working the Apple station at the local BestBuy.
