I'm really pissed off that Apple use such slow delivery services. Fair enough, offer free economy delivery (being fully warned BEFORE checkout how damned long it's going to take) or the option of a premium for fast delivery.

My Apple tracking page has finally updated for the first time since dispatch, and mine too says 'Flex Postal & Hub UK'. I also got a response to my email to Apple Store I sent yesterday. They said my Macbook is on schedule to by delivered on Monday 29th by Lynx (a UPS company). I responded asking whether they really do deliver on Bank Holidays...

I'm so disappointed they're not using TNT - our local depot is about 5 miles away, and is open 24 hours a day. I was hoping that if it didn't get there until the weekend I could pop along to collect it rather than wait until next Tuesday.

I think this is the last time I will order from the Apple Store. I would have bought my Macbook from John Lewis this time, but I know they are slow beyond ridiculous at getting in new products (or even being aware they exist).

Oh, and one more thing. My Apple tracking page now says estimated delivery 24th May 2006 (subject to change).

The final joke that I've just discovered, is that the Flextronics tracker doesn't work on Safari or Firefox. You have to use some old security lacking browser like Internet Explorer to get it working. The link posted on page 24 of this discussion works in Internet Explorer. I could not understand why other people were finding it useful. Do you really use some ****** old browser? Isn't that considered a security risk?

https://www.iec-logistics.com/apps/tracktrace/trk_tracking.asp <--- doesn't work with Safari or Firefox.

Thanks - that is incredibly useful - I have been using Firefox and getting nothing. Having booted up IE I have now learnt that my iWorks and Macbook appear to have got it together in the UK and I suspect that they may be coming out via UPS. That is about 200% more than I knew earlier, so thanks again!

Large MacBook 1.83GHz Order Update

I thought I would update the status on my larger order of 48 MacBooks 1.83GHz. 45 Of the units are right now with Morrison Express. I cannot find tracking info on it right now, but at least they should be headed my way. Three of the other MacBooks are coming via FedEx. Everthing shows a ship date of today May 25, 2006.

Just spoken to someone at the Apple Store to find out more. Apparently my 80... number will show up on UPS tracking once they receive it, but they said it's still in the Netherlands at the moment (been there for most of this week as far as I can tell...).

I vented my frustration at the length of time it's taking, and the poor tracking information particularly on Apple's site. I also suggested that they should perhaps import the computers BEFORE selling them to the customers. I said I have been so dissappointed with the time it's taken that it would put me off buying them in future (a white lie perhaps, but if it kicks them up the backside it's worth it). I also explained that I would rather pop to my local shop to get the DVI adapter cable rather than have some complex "merge in transit" that means spending several extra days travelling around the world...

I pointed out that in the US that people are receiving their orders in 2-3 days, and they said that's because there is a manufacturing plant in the US, whereas for the UK they are shipped form China. From what I've read on various forums I'm pretty sure that is NOT true, it seems they all come from China.

So much frustration with delivery times in this thread....

You guys should learn to be a little more patient :p

I've been wanting to by myself a mac laptop of some sort for over a year. I've been waiting for the release of the macbook for months. then when I finally order it the day it comes out, TNT moves it around for a whole two hours (!) before they decide it's hopeless and they might as well give up on the whole delivery..

21 mei 2006 08:00 Pudong International Airport Potential Connection Delay
21 mei 2006 06:17 Suzhou Shipped From Originating Depot
21 mei 2006 05:57 Suzhou Consignment Received At Transit Point

patience is overrated.

shadowmoses, you got any updates yet??

Mine's still showing the same c$%p...Its a joke but the thing is I can't do much as the estimated delivery date is and always has beeen the 30th of May so technically when I call and complain I don't have any ground to stand on becuase they never guarenteed the delivery any earlier...

Anyhow I have spoken to TNT twice today and once yesterday.

Yesterday they said it was in Amsterdam, again first thing this morning I was assured it was still in Amsterdam. I called once again this afternoon and they changed there mind and told me it was definatly not in Amsterdam and all they knew is that it is in "transit' how informative.....

Anyway I've all but lost hope in recieving my beautiful MB before next tuesday....

Maybe you could call TNT and ask them for an update later on tonight maybe we'll get something new out of them.

That whole Amsterdam bit sounded a bit weird anyway since all the others went to Arnhem. And I am sure lying around in a forgotton corner in Pudong Airport would be considered 'in transit'... I can't call TNT today since it's a holiday and their out of office hours phone people could only look at the online tracking system with me and say 'yes indeed, potential delay...'.
I'll call them tomorow morning. But it seems these people don't really have a clue about what's happening to our macbooks either.

I'm now aiming for monday (not a holiday here thank god), but a few days ago I was so sure I'd have it on friday, if not earlier.

Bah, I have a MacBook that's currently stuck in Shanghai too :p

Also had to wait a month for my 2GHz iMac Core Duo to be delivered in January, then went through two exchanges due to defective hardware. That certainly tested my patience.

I just think people should get on with their lives in the meantime rather than refreshing that TNT tracker every 5 mins or so. It's not like you weren't able to survive without a MacBook anyway or you wouldn't be here today :p

Considering Arnhem is the "TNT International Road Express Centre" and Amsterdam (or more technically Schiphol) is where Holland's main airport is, that's probably the reason why everything is going through Amsterdam. Liege (Luik) is where TNT's International Air Hub is, but I guess it's easier to go via Amsterdam.

one thing i don't get:

i ordered on friday, apple proved to be quite efficient in terms of getting the BTO thing all ready by sunday(!) just to let it sit on some stupid airport/airplane for days... i wonder why bother in the first place... why provide us with useless tracking numbers so we can call them all the time and bitch about it... why is this called "service"?

i would be much happier if i didn't know anything about the whereabouts of my macbook :(

Just a heads up for you guys, there may be a little bit of plastic in front of the vents of the MacBook (probably in order to avoid dust getting in during the manufacturing process?) as mentioned in this blog. Read it and see if you need to remove a little bit of plastic blocking the vents from working properly.

Wouldn't want any of our new MacBooks to be running hot, now would we? :D

Frankly, I was raised on macs and have now spent over a year with only a linux desktop machine and I just realy miss having a mac around. I'm stretched really thin here to tell you the truth. At least you still have an imac to fall back on (of corse I love my pengiun pc but that's a whole different matter).

But yeah, actually you're absolutely right... I'm just a pathetic computernerd with a macbook in china and have nothing better to do then complain about it (wretched holidays!)

Easier said than done. Unfortunately it's in my nature to waste hours doing pointless things like this that wind me up...:D

I just got it into my head that it would be cool to have it to use over the long weekend, so it's just a disappointment that it's not going to arrive by then. Particularly frustrating when it seems they just keep them hanging around in the same place for days. OK, they come a long way, but that's not what takes the time.

I agree the only reason i'm getting worked up is that I am looking for a job and therefore sitting at home all day....it sounds good but its boring!

Apparently mine was shipped today by TNT international express. Not showing up on their site though. Grr...

They're giving me a due date of the 2nd June - although by the sound of some of the above posts that's when it'll finally be discovered in the corner of a warehouse in China. :)

NO! THE ONE IN THE CORNER IS MINE!!!!

I think most people actually got it a lot faster, there's just some unlucky few who keep complainging here. (Just trying to get your hopes up so you will end up being crushed by reality like the rest of us).

Just checked the Apple page for the bizilionth time today and its just updated with the UPS tracking number. Although it has to be said its not being very helpful, it says shipped to Edinburgh, so I'm not sure if this means its at their depot because the status says "Billing Information Received*" and the asterisk links to "*UPS has received shipper's billing information electronically. Billing information received does not indicate shipment pickup or drop-off. Please contact the shipper for more details."

Anyway its still looking good for tomorrow!

The goddamn TNT tracker site hasn't updated for me for over 72 hours.. I hope for TNT's sake their tracker sometimes lags reality a bit, because i surely don't hope they've left my MB lying there for over 3days..
Can't they see how inpatient we are? :)

Same thing here.....Lost hope now will call TNT tommorow if tracker isn't updated....
