My story
Hey guys, a lurker here, been reading a long time and i thought i'd contribute to this hot thread. =)
First, i live in Sweden.
So. i order one of the beautiful 2.0 whites. This was back in May 16:th. I ordered a DVI-mini to VGA adapter, since i am a big music video fan (i have over 2000 music videos on my PC, mostly italo disco.

). SO, I wait and wait and watch that old familiar TNT delivery page we all love. It arrives, not a day too soon, but a few too late IMHO, the 30:th of May.
Sweet, i rip out the old Sony DSC H1 and start snapping the obligatory unwrapping shots. When i get to the MB and turn it on though, the screen is dark. Even the apple logo on the back is dark. "Heh!" i think. I try increasing the brightness. Not working. I stifle a nervous laugh, then i proceed to resetting the, whatchamacallit, PROM? No.. Ah, some ROM holding among other things the energy saving info.
Not working. Bork! I try removing the battery and pressing some key combo and other magic tricks taught in yon sacred forums, but to no avail.
I call tech support, where i am greeted by very friendly staff helping me do all the stuff i just did once again. One thing that had me LOLing was when i had to go through the setup "wizard" in the beginning and create a user account. The MB snaps a pic of the user while doing this, and i gave it my best "disillusioned customer"-face, holding the phone with tech support to my ear and all. Of course, i couldn't see it, my backlight being broken and all.
The nice guy att apple tech told me that he thought, as me, that it was a clear case of DOA, dead on arrival, a broken backlight. Having worked on HPs tech support (i know, i know) i feared the worst. I called Applestore (apparently DOAs have to be handled by them if you order online) and they said "pack it up and wait for someone to swing by and collect it". So, i repacked it (and unpacked it about three or four times just to look at it, and hook it up to the TV just to dream of the fun times i would have with it when i got the replacement.
The TNT bureauocracy (sp?) was horrible though. I had to print out four coluor pages and sign them all just to release the package from my custody. I had to leave work on a local newspaper and ride a company car home with the printed papers, only to realise that three of them were still in the printer, making another trip necessary. Not two minutes after i step inside the door to my aptmt the final time, the bell rings and there stands a sweet lady from the Swedish postal service. Apparently they do the dirty work for TNT, just a FYI to all my fellow swedes. This is probably the case in other countries as well.
And here i am, still waiting for the MB. TNT says its still in the exotic location of Suzhou, China, being delivered by "express". My MB, when it arrives, has been around more than me.
