Well, i'm with the Newf, no macbook today... looks like i can still finish second
BUT my Nano got here, i was at school all day, so i missed it.. and it looks like i will be picking it up tommorow after classes due to a huge thunderstorm problem tonight...

Race for second is on! hahaha

What was your estimated arrival date 'guy from Newfoundland' ?
Mine was the 21st....and did you get the back to school sale?

YAY

i dont know if this is the wrong thread to post in, cuz i got a macbook pro instead of a macbook, but, YAY!!!! my 17" macbook pro arrived today! what i find most odd is that, even tho im not in US, my shipment was very fast.

I don't get it. Surely you knew when your Macbook would be arriving as it tells you in the Order Status bit in the Apple Store?!

Looks like mines travelling with yours :)

Got exactly the same information and dates all round.

Hopefully they will be with us by thursday at the latest

My estimated arrival is the same as yours - Wednesday. I see no reason why tomorrow isn't a possibility, though.
About the back to school sale.. I read it was brought out in Canada 3 days AFTER I made my order. I called Apple to see what I could do, and was offered a completely free 2GB Nano.

Yeah, that completely free 2Gb Ipod Nano, is the one you get for free after your mail in rebate from the back to school sale.... I did the same, i ordered it the monday and then the day mine was supposed to ship (15th) the sale started, so i called and the guy said i could get the 1Gb nano free with the sale because they go by your shipping date not the date you placed the order..I could have gotten the 2Gb but i was in the car driving to class.. and i didnt know what the rebate would cover, but he was CERTAIN that it coved the 1Gb so i stuck with that.. When i got home i saw that it was also covering the 2Gb so i called back and they said it was already shipped... so i am stuck with it..but it was free! (well i still have to pay tax lol)

Tax? Really?
I don't know if my credit card was charged for the tax, but I never had to pay anything. The payment method reads as "prepaid".
I also ordered Monday and shipped on the 15th. What configuration MacBook did you order?

I got the Base white 1.83Ghz Macbook, with the upgraded 1GB of ram..

And it shipped on the 16th which was a day later then they estimated... so it better be here by wednesday.. :D

If it was Stock i think it would have been here already....they seem to travel faster

WHAT?!?!!? I ordered mine 3 days before the deal as well and when I called I was only offered $100 off a 2GB nano and $205 (aka the full rebate) off a 4/30/60GB iPod/nano. Grrr, I'm gonna call again and demand a free nano. That's so annoying!

Anywho... My MacBook is perfect. No whine. No moo. Does get really, really hot. Although I'm not sure if that's by itself or because I've been letting it sit on my bed all day with no ventilation underneath it.

heh, i ordered mine on sunday 8pm, and i got it on tuedsday 11am but i am in new zealand tho:D

Oh well there has to be some benefit living in a country where your out numbered by sheep :D

I ordered my Macbook last night. Late last night.

I was even stupid enough to pay for the two day shipping. ;)
Oh well. ;)

I got a MacBook 1.83, a 30 Gig iPod Video, and a Canon Printer all for less than 1500 US.

And I have 280 dollars in rebates I'll collect. :D :D

Happy days indeed.

Hopefully Apple has got these later models fixed slightly.

Hope you got yours today!
Mine arrived at the local depot this morning too late to get on a delivery truck.

Well, when i checked my tracking status this morning before class it said it was on truck for delivery, and having missed my iPod yesterday i stayed home from class until i got it... 11.28am opened it, looked it over and so far nothing physically wrong on the outside. I started it up, it installed everything and it all seemed to work perfect, quite as a mouse, and it was very cool.. i mean if i kept my hand on the battery i could feel its warmth but nothing else...

Never having owned a Mac, or even a Laptop i thought that the 'mouse' button was kinda weird.. i had to press pretty hard for it to respond.. maybe thats just how they are? it didnt make any noticable noise either.. it just kinda went down and up... is it spossed to be like that?? it wasnt very sensitive.. but it was usable. perhaps i need to get used to it, and i need to learn iTunes, and what software i need to DL to run music, movies, etc....

Thanks for everyones help, my first mac, and first laptop work amazing so far, hope yours works just as well.

Yeah. I installed coreduo temp, and with proper ventilation (IE, not sitting on a mattress that's meant to preserve body heat), my MacBook idles at around 50 and when under heavy duty work goes to about 65. Very nice indeed. I can keep my hands on it no problem. I think Apple finally got their quality control in check,

The latest on my Macbook is below.

Not long after I was told it probably wouldn't show up today, my door bell rang. :)

It's AWESOME. I can feel some heat, but it's not excessive - I'm assuming there are worse cases. Like yours, it's silent as a mouse. If I put my ear up close to the keyboard, the only thing I can hear is the hard drive clicking, if it even is. The best thing I've never used before has to be the scrolling trackpad - it's just ingenious; and the double-tap for right click.

I ordered my macbook on Friday, paid for two-day shipping and now I have an estimated delivery of June 26, 2006. I'm very :( since I leave for summer semester in Massachusetts this Saturday. :(

welll.. i like the two finger scrolling but i havent gotten used to the clicking trackpad, or the button.. its either not sensitive enough or too sensitive and i keep clicking random **** and stuff opens that shouldnt..

PLUS i have no idea how to use Mac OS X

I've been using OS X now for a grande total of 2 days, not counting fiddling with it at the iMac display at Future Shop. I did read a book however. I can't explain it, but I just know how stuff works, maybe some of the book seeped into my mind? Haha. What do you need to know? How to install stuff/remove stuff? Where everything is located? How to change preferences? Quoi?

Yeah, the random clicking happened to me for a good few hours, too. I am using my cordless mouse now, just for comfort.
There are settings for the trackpad that you might want to change around, in System Preferences. It's like the Windows control panel.

A good place for you to check for popular OS X apps would be here on the neowin.net forums. If you have more Mac questions, ask away.

I ordered on June 19th.
The printer I ordered was supposed to be shipped yesterday, but didn't.
As of right now, nothing has shipped!

How long should I wait before calling apple? My bank account hasn' t been charged yet either....
