Is there any other aspect ratios that Apple might consider transitioning or is it only 16:9?
I only see 16:9 if they are transitioning.
What would you say is the most "useful" aspect ratio for a laptop/display monitor?
I can't really say, since I've only used 4:3 (and 5:4).
Hey iMacmatician, any thoughts on the possible incorporation of anodized aluminum colors,
When the original MacBook rumors circulated in early 2006, there was one that mentioned color MacBooks. I got all excited for pink, light green, and light blue MacBooks (my wishlist) but they ended up as only white and black.

So although I'd like colors, I don't think they're likely, given the lack of rumors about color. I'd like to see the colors match the iPod nanos' colors, and maybe sold in a MacBook + iPod nano identical color combo set. If we see colors, we might see white and black keyboards (like the iPod nano click wheel) and maybe only certain parts of the MacBook will be color.
or for that matter, black and silver?
I see a wholly silver MacBook Pro and a silver and black MacBook.
Additionally, any thoughts on possible differentiating factors for MBPs vs. MBs if the MB moves to aluminum?
I'll limit the factors to the high-end (≈$1499) MacBook and the low-end (≈$1999) MacBook Pro.
- Size and weight: The MacBook would be smaller, lighter, and maybe thinner than the MacBook Pro
- CPU: Currently they are the same (2.4 GHz). This could continue (2.4 GHz) or Apple could choose to up the clock speed on the MacBook Pro only (2.4 GHz vs. 2.53 GHz)
- Hard drive: Maybe the MacBook Pro will get a 7200 RPM drive standard. I don't think so though.
- GPU: This is a big one. Integrated GPU (although a better one) vs. midrange GPU (low-end AT WORST), there's no comparison for the GPU user.
- Display: While the MacBook is likely to have a 14" 1366·768 (maybe 1280·720) display, the MacBook Pro would likely have a 16" 1600·900 display
- Ports: The MacBook Pro is likely to have more ports and slots than the MacBook
- Others largely for the sake of differentiation: 0 or more of: Multi-touch trackpad, glass trackpad, iSight HD, backlit keyboard, user-replaceable (battery/HD/RAM/etc.), and most likely some BTO options too
Fastest Quad-Core Intel CPU Possible (if HP and Dell can offer an Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme Edition 2.53 GHz Quad-Core with 1066 Mhz, then Apple should or they are simply technically behind today).
The MacBook Pro is too thin to dissipate the heat of a 2.53 GHz quad-core (45 W vs. 35 W of current dual-cores)
8-16 GB dual-channel 1066MHz DDR3
16 GB would be 4 RAM slots, which may not be possible due to the relatively small space caused by the MacBook Pro being thin.
The upcoming MacBook Pro is rumored to be redesigned; this will likely make it even thinner and have less internal space.
