I just hope the new Mac Book Pros are real professional laptops without all the gimmicky consumer crap. Leave those for the MacBooks.

I was surprised by your "gimmicky consumer crap" comment. What kind of things are you talking about? Which features fall into that category?

I am expecting redesigned laptops and perhaps a smaller option (not touch, powerful netbook). No Combo drives (also helps apple with standardising parts), bigger specs etc, lighter, thinner laptops... I desperately need to replace my 12 inch Powerbook G4...

And as I keep saying, I desperately want a new 12" MBP.

Please let it be :eek::D

An SD slot would be nice but that's impossible.;):

Why would that be impossible?

I think thats one thing that is missing off the MacBooks and MacBook Pro's, most PC manufacturers include one as standard now in their laptops. I for one would welcome the addition as I use my camera almost daily and it's much more pleasent to use a card reader than USB cables and software.

As long as there's a matte screen and a FW port on the MBP, for me it's fine. I think a black keyboard would look ok. I liked it on the old Titanium.

I think october 14th is the waiting deadline for most of us...
Thats my deadline atleast, if nothing is announced by the 14th Im personally paying a visit to the hp store.
I've been without a laptop and waiting for apple to show signs of a release for far too long.I would buy the current macbooks but if you ask me they're not exactly "bang for the buck" imho - and I think anyone who bought a macbook in the last month or so will be banging their head to the wall if anything new comes out in the next few weeks.

Can't wait much longer...

My Macbook died and my Mac Mini isn't a real replacement, not mobile, no superdrive. I'm counting on updates soon.

Question: Shall I sell my black Core Duo 2.GHz Macbook in whole (keyboard case and logic board ist busted, screen and battery are new, no scratches on case) or sell the guts one by one?

If you want parts and are in or near Germany, pm me. :)

Gotta agree, i'm waiting till Oct 14th but i wouldn't buy a Windblows if a new MacBook isn't out.

The whole thing seems to be a cycle of rumours that someone's dad made up on one website, reported as rumour by the next website, reported as quasi fact by the next website, and so on.

So basically, there is NO evidence for a macbook redesign right?

How about....

..a modular computer. Plug components into a bus or connect components with cables. Let's say a starter package has CPU brick, Memory brick, Disk brick, and a Graphics brick. Want more memory? Buy a brick and plug it in. More disk space? Buy, plug, play:)

Upgrade your CPU? Buy plug, play.;)

Sounds cool to me!

Cheers,
Knut

Simple power induction a la a toothbrush. That's it.

No fancy redesign. No crazy specs. For goodness sake, no tablet.

It'll be a pad or something similar that will charge the laptops (both sets) when placed on top of it. When away from it, a normal power cord will do the job.

arrgg

This is what agrivates me about anything electronic in general. I just picked up a new mb pro and mac pro last week and now i hear rumors or redesigns and newer models..really frustrating. Regardless of how major the changes will be,When spending this kind of money and then finding out its "obsolete" a week later , the consumer who just got the big kick in the as should be offerd some kind of premium like free itunes or something.

One of the guys that I work with was telling me that his brother is friends with some former apple employees son. He says that they have a closet of apple stuff that they give away and he got an ipod and was going to get an iphone for him. He also says that they get all the new apple products before release. Anyway, he was talking about getting laptops in the next week or two - he also said something about touchscreens. I'm not sure if it's macbook or macbook pro and this came to me thirdhand - so take it for what it's worth.

That's ludicrous. That we'd believe any of this post whatsoever. Joke?

You can't blame Steve Jobs for wanting a few more keynotes like the iPhone in January 2007. No rumor site spoiled that announcement so the combination of surprise and a blockbuster product resulted in the best keynote ever. Are we in store for a similar keynote this month? One can only hope.

Were you here then? I was, as a lurker. The iPhone was discussed all over the place here before that date. With many rumors nailing it almost exactly. If anything people were -- as always here -- a bit underwhelmed.

Crap...

Are there... two CD drives on the front?

God, I hope there are still some sane people at APPLE Corp. That photo shows only an artists rendering of a laptop, not an Apple.

All these pointless speculations.

The new design is will not be a copy of the MB Air, no glass pad either. Hopefully no expanding batteries, no black keys as you can see everything on them. I owned 3 black laptops and now will never ever buy that color again. It is boring.

In addition I hope Apple will apply TQM for the new era laps so we don't have to buy 3 to get a good one.

If you bought direct from Apple, I think (but may be wrong) that you have 30 days to exchange a purchase if a new model is introduced. Normally you have 14 days anyway, but have to pay a restocking fee if the box has been opened.

But just like any purchase, you only have yourself to blame if you haven't done your homework. The mainstream media, the blogosphere, and rumors sites like this one have been forecasting new Macbooks for months.
