if this was going to be just a minor speed bump and not a case design until January don't you think they would have updated them by now to have a bigger gap than the short one from October to January?

it seems odd that it would be just a speed bump to me when they could have done that by now.

now not actually coming out until January i could see that and would hate it... none the less i have my fingers crossed for a redesign in October.

They are still coming in October. Apple is not going to wait until January. If they do, they will screw themselves.

Found this on MSN today....

12. I'm a PC, she's a Mac, and you're unemployed

Michael Hanscom did not pose nude on Flickr, attack the locals with a stick on his trip to Mexico, or dress up like the Fairy Princess while calling in sick. His crime? In October 2003, the Microsoft temp posted photos of Macintosh G5s being unloaded on the Redmond campus to his blog with the title "Even Microsoft wants G5s." And that was enough to get him canned from his job in Microsoft's print shop for an alleged "security violation." Apparently, the world's largest developer of software for the Mac (besides Apple) didn't want anyone to know that some of its employees use Macs. (Thanks for Michael Hanscom for use of the photo.)

Just a thought ... since MS writes software for Macs, wouldn't they actually need Macs in house? And it makes sense to fire an employee who violates their secrecy code - Apple would probably do the same thing. Also, Apple must have PC's in Cupertino since they write code for multiple platforms as well as Boot Camp.

Apple is putting Aluminum in all the notebooks until the end of 2008 "ambient restriction self imposed, and some may times referred in keynotes during this year" ...

Nothing more to say about the release of the new Line

touchscreen??

One of the guys that I work with was telling me that his brother is friends with some former apple employees son. He says that they have a closet of apple stuff that they give away and he got an ipod and was going to get an iphone for him. He also says that they get all the new apple products before release. Anyway, he was talking about getting laptops in the next week or two - he also said something about touchscreens. I'm not sure if it's macbook or macbook pro and this came to me thirdhand - so take it for what it's worth.

I didn't like the new design (mockup) at all. I hope it's fake. If in case it is real, then looks like Apple lost its creativity, because somehow this looks like the Sony VAIO AR series. And damnit, glossy is beautiful but it accumulates a lot of dust and fingerprints. So no.

I find the MacBook keyboard might more elegant than the MacBook Pro - the MBP's one feels cheap, and the keys don't even sit perfectly straight half the time.

I think the MacBook Air's keyboard is the best out of the three.
MacBook 2nd.
MacBook Pro 3rd.
;)

The same thing goes for some of the MacBook keyboards unfortunately. And when they pop off though, you have to get a whole new top case.

So, I do not understand which keyboard you dislike now. You sound pretty neutral to the MacBook and MacBook Air keyboards now.
Please enlighten me on which keyboard you never want to see on the new MacBook Pro. ;)

I really hope that they never put the MacBook keys on their. They just don't play nice at all with keycovers (ala the wired and wireless keyboard). I don't mind the MacBook keys, they just aren't my thing.

But, I do like the MacBook Air enough to get over my qualms with the keyboard.

Yes, I imagine they do have a large number of PCs, along with Sun Servers (this is a definite) and a variety of other devices and platforms. They may even be using Pagemaker/OS 9 for some tasks. Whatever gets the job done best.

Technically Apple just needs Windows licences now, because of boot-camp. However I very much doubt they have bothered to replace all their legacy hardware with brand new Macs.

Microsoft as many people know did a lot of XBOX 360 software dev and testing on PowerMac G5 due to the hardware similarities before the consoles were ready.

I really hope that they never put the MacBook keys on their.
I think you may have to start preparing yourself to be disappointed.

Remember what apple and jobs have said about revenues and profit margins getting short and products transitions coming up.

Could be they are really gonna keep going with what they have available right now no new stuff and make WWDC in Jan. a really really really big deal.

Think about this for a while NO new products out other than ipod stuff. Year and a half old Mac Mini, Year old almost MB and MBP, 9 month + old iMacs and Year old Mac Pro's and, 2 or 3 year old displays, and all this is at the very least what will be in 2 months. WHO IN THERE RIGHT MIND IS GOING TO BUY A MAC OF ANYKIND IN DECEMBER WITHOUT A NEW RELEASES IN OCTOBER OR NOVEMBER!!!!!
Read that line again, and imagine the Apple Store With actual hardware from January 2008, and what will happen to sales around Christmas. Everybody i've talked to within the Retail industry tell me they expect a very bad year. IE big sales and price cuts aren't going to do JACK SH** for the shopping season.
I've even heard one say Black Friday will be called Red Friday. Yes I'pods will sell BUT revenue from computer hardware helps the bottom line.

Oh heck who cares come on Tablet Mac.

I am very excited about the impending release of the new macbook pro's

Work these days (in this market) has been BRUTAL and would happily wlecome a new toy to distract me!

I'm really craving some info on upcoming MBPs. I have the cash all ready, but the way my finances are going, if the new machine doesn't show up soon I might blow the money on food or something. ;)

ditto.

i have been ready for a new MBP since early summer.

it better be october 14, or else im just going to pass and buy something else.

i cant wait forever :(
