i really have to think steve is thinking ok...

a) release macbooks next week while every news channel is talking about the next great depression

b) let the DC bailout news finish..let elections occur..we will do mid-november minor release..with major updates in 2009.

Its extremely hard to judge though. We have never been in tough economic times while Apple has actually been really successful with their macbooks.

Does any one think that Apple is waiting just to "torture" people when they have all the stuff ready?
An interesting thought.

Oh and think about this, less product orders means less bulk purchases of materials. That means less discount per piece, which means more money for each piece, which means cost more to make said computer, which means pass price increase on to consumer. OH wait cant pass price increase onto consumer because its year old gear anyway. Now what well we have to EAT IT price increase and all. Which will make revenues go down and look like we have lost revenues and profit margins get SLIM.

Boy thats a lot to say ain't it.

That keyboard for one.

So you don't like the MB keyboard? I went from an IBM Model M to a Thinkpad to a Powerbook to a Macbook.

In short, I've spent years on some of the best keyboards in the world. I still have my Model M upstairs, with 6 signatures from the assembling crew on the back of it.

I held off getting a MacBook for a long time because of the keyboard. Now, 9 months after getting mine, I can say I damn love the keyboard. It took a bit of getting used to, but now I can't go back to my Powerbook keyboard.

(I wish the aluminium wired/wireless keyboards had the same tactile feel - they're not as good.)

What if the codename refers to the mac mini? then i think the code name would refer to the form factor

according to my uncle, who works at the product dep. at apple

there will be no new release this month..
maybe later next month, before xmas.

Do you think the iMac might get a speed bump?

I've advised a mate whose wants an iMac to wait till Oct 14th just in case.

I've virtually given up hope of a Mini Revival :(

I hope soon that I'll be typing on a multi-touch keyboard surface that's impervious to spilled liquids and key caps popping off. I would love a larger and more immersive version of the typing experience I have with the iPhone.

I know many people hate this experience and would rather stay analogue - all my blackberry friends for example. Still, for me a full multi-touch experience can't come soon enough.

if this was going to be just a minor speed bump and not a case design until January don't you think they would have updated them by now to have a bigger gap than the short one from October to January?

it seems odd that it would be just a speed bump to me when they could have done that by now.
Precisely. A speed bump could have already happened. The fact that an update hasn't happened yet tells me that the upcoming update is something more. Whether the redesign will be in october, November, or January, I don't see a speed bump between now and then.

Why am I doubting this statement?

Mother ****ERS! This better come out on October 14th! This ******** about October 15th better not be true. Please release them October 14th! and save Macworld for Snow Leopard only, or just minor updates then, like 8gb ram with a 64 bit operating system would then be native. thats all I can hope for.

Until then October 14th better be the big date. Hope they announce the event this coming week before I die.

windows smasher

I agree with other web posts that the brick theory is bricks are very good at smashing windows. Im guessing Apple may be lowering the prices to be extra competitive:)

I think I know what "Brick" is.

What is a Brick? A building block, a foundation.

What in the computer world could be construed as such?

Perhaps a new chipset.

...a proprietary Apple Only chipset.

Interesting…

Apple apparently keeps plenty secret from those who don't need to know. I don't doubt your uncle works at Apple, but I do doubt his information considering the overwhelming agreement on the October 14th date from a number of sources.

Is it just me? I haven't heard a reasonable explanation of the brick rumor yet.

Maybe I am hung up on the form factor of a brick, but the 'breaking windows' doesn't sound like Apple at all.

Also does it seem like this new thread is a thread about how there is nothing for a new thread?

Dang, we need a life. Hurry up Steve and introduce these things so you can take our hard earned money and we can go back to our lives!

I'd like that. Especially one with cool new features.

MacBook, MacBook Air
  • Custom accelerator chip
  • Smaller and lighter
MacBook Pro
  • Custom accelerator chip
  • Smaller and lighter
  • 1333 MHz FSB (up from 1067 MHz), therefore 2.5/2.67/2.83 GHz
  • 3-channel RAM (up from 2 channels)
:D

Well nobody "got" the "rainbow" iPod nano rumor, so...

So I have had no computer for the last month plus all summer while my computer was at Acer before I sold it and I'm going crazy! Should I buy on the 14th or wait until MacWorld and get Snow Leopard with my Mac? I don't care if Snow Leopard is only streamlining, but if there is cosmetic work done I may wait... On another note, what if the brick is about the weight of the MacBook? People say the computer is heavy so maybe the aluminum will drastically lower the weight.;) Cmon apple :apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:
