I hope the MacBook gets the same keyboard as the new MacBook Pro, which should be the one the MacBook Air has.
I think the MacBook Air's keyboard is the best out of the three.
MacBook 2nd.
MacBook Pro 3rd.

I doubt that happens. Currently, Apple separates the Macbook Pro and Macbook models by giving one an illuminated/backlit keyboard, and holding out on the other (Pro and Macbook respectively).
I doubt they bring a backlit keyboard into both models as it would confuse things further when making a purchasing decision for some. That backlit keyboard may be the reason people upgrade to a Macbook Pro. Probably not, but it may be the little difference Macbook Pro owners like myself need to feel superior to everyone else. Except for those damn Macbook Air owners.
Lucky *******s.
So I have had no computer for the last month plus all summer while my computer was at Acer before I sold it and I'm going crazy! Should I buy on the 14th or wait until MacWorld and get Snow Leopard with my Mac? I don't care if Snow Leopard is only streamlining, but if there is cosmetic work done I may wait... On another note, what if the brick is about the weight of the MacBook? People say the computer is heavy so maybe the aluminum will drastically lower the weight.Cmon apple

if those are the real pictures i am so glad i got mine a month ago, i love btw. The black and the aluminum clash so bad, it looks like a blind kid picked the colors. terrible try at fake pics.
i really have to think steve is thinking ok...
a) release macbooks next week while every news channel is talking about the next great depression
b) let the DC bailout news finish..let elections occur..we will do mid-november minor release..with major updates in 2009.
Its extremely hard to judge though. We have never been in tough economic times while Apple has actually been really successful with their macbooks.
I think a bigger display and a dedicated GPU have something to do with the distinction.I doubt that happens. Currently, Apple separates the Macbook Pro and Macbook models by giving one an illuminated/backlit keyboard, and holding out on the other (Pro and Macbook respectively).

Agreed. I hope it's something like faster CPUs and higher resolutions, not by, say, not including the glass trackpad on the MacBook.the macbook pro will have somethinng else new to increase the distinction between both
...Even though it's a different situation, one is a major terrorist attack, and the other, is our own government's attack...
In regards to the Macbook Pro: I'd expect a magnetic latch without a doubt as well.
higher resolutions
Either way, the point is that whether we're heading into a depression or not, Apple isn't going to wait to release a big product like this. My reasoning is that if the economy is going to get that bad then one of the only times people will be willing to spend money is the holiday season. What better time to have a nice new line of laptops in stores?Whilst OT, some people believe that the major terrorist attack you mentioned was actually a government attack...
One of the guys that I work with was telling me that his brother is friends with some former apple employees son. He says that they have a closet of apple stuff that they give away and he got an ipod and was going to get an iphone for him. He also says that they get all the new apple products before release. Anyway, he was talking about getting laptops in the next week or two - he also said something about touchscreens. I'm not sure if it's macbook or macbook pro and this came to me thirdhand - so take it for what it's worth.
I suspect new MacBooks might actually have real GPU's in - to leverage the new tech in 10.6... which would make my purchasing decision hard!
why is everyone freaking out about apple not releasing new macbooks this month?
Makes sense to wait until the current financial crisis and elections are over in early november if they are doing a big notebook revamp.
And why say that no-one will buy the current macbooks? Didn't apple just have their best month ever for macbook sales?
The best thing they could do immediately in my opinion is to do a small bump in ram/harddrive, and lower the cost on each model by $200.
it seems to me that only a very small amount of the general public actually obsess over the comparitive specs to PC notebooks. Look at the iphone & ipods, underspec compared to similar devices - but its about the user experience, software and marketing - and the cool factor of course.
Having said that - apple really needs to kill the combo drive for good in the entry level macs.
I suspect either Nvidia or ATI integrated graphics at least.

Plus the average consumer buying Macbook's up right now has no idea that their are new laptops coming very soon, most people(besides the Apple fanatic communities)already think the Mac notebook lineup is amazing, and I'm sure Apple has thought of that too.
None of this changes that fact that I want a new aluminum Macbook![]()
Agreed.we all want new notebooks![]()
I am sure ATI and NVidia would be better than Intel at Integrated graphics.Integrated Graphics by any company makes me nervous....![]()
