Of course it wouldn't work with the TBD. How can the macbook that has no thunderbolt drive a thunderbolt monitor? I ordered one as well but to drive a regular monitor via mini display port.

what about the 27 inch cinema display? Mini display port. sorry, this stuff gets so confusing

Plugged mine in, get nothing from my Cinema Display. Will contact support.
[doublepost=1464288803][/doublepost]Support said they would get back to me.

They told me to do Option + f2. Didn't work.

They sent me these instructions, I'll try on Tuesday at work.

1.) go to the Preference on MacBook 12.
2.) Select Display > Scaled > choose Large Text, 1024 x 640. It is because the USB type C hub support 4k @30MHz only.

It's not working. I called tech support they said they are working on a fix and will get back to me soon.

I have decided to return the Hyperdrive USB C with displayport. Like the Hootoo, its too inconsistent. Sometimes the video out works, sometimes I can't wake it up from sleep and other times the display will lose signal and go black for a few seconds and its just not an enjoyable experience. I really wish I could find a way to use my thunderbolt display with it, that'd be the perfect combo, but we know its not possible with the 2016 version.

So I was looking at getting another display for my surface pro 4 for work as well and I stumbled upon the Acer H277HU which is one of the first USB-C displays out there that can charge the MB and the monitor becomes a hub with its USB 3.0 ports. It also works with the surface pro 4 via displayport. It has the same res as my imac 2560x1440. LG has a similar size also USB-C but its 4K which the MB can't run at 60Hz and I don't want to use it at 1920 x 1080 res on a 27in display. It'll be here in a couple of weeks and I'll report how it works out.

I tried way too many adapters this weekend and got things basically working with my 2016 rMB, 10.11.5, 27" Apple LED display and:

Cable Matters DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort Male to Female Adapter - 6 Inches

SIIG HDMI to DisplayPort 4K Ultra HD Active Adapter (CE-H22A11-S1)

Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter

This meets my goal of being able to charge the rMB in clamshell mode while using BT keyboard and mouse, but there is an annoying intermittent jitter at the bottom of the display :/

(NB: Neither the gofanco or startech.com HDMI -> DisplayPort 4K x 2K adapters worked for me)

Cool. What is the USB micro for on the SIIG adaptor, is that to power the adaptor?

Yep! I even tried going from the micro to a power brick to see if more/cleaner power helped the jittering but no...
How is your setup working after a little bit of time?
Are you using any software to keep the macbook in clamshell mode?

Still too jittery to recommend unfortunately. I just never sleep the display and use one of the lava lamp looking screen savers to keep it connected... thinking of biting the bullet and getting a real USB-C display.

Thx. Hopefully the ship date for my Hydrodock is approaching
