- Is it just me, or is that an absolutely horrible implementation?

It uses DisplayPort over USB-C rather than Thunderbolt 3, which means the 3 USB-C ports on the back of it are all limited to USB 2.0 speeds. And it can only provide 60 W of power, which isn't enough for a 15".
If you have the new 15" rMBP, you should be looking at the 5k version.

I ordered one to try with my 30" Cinema Display with the dual link DVI adapter. If this doesn't work I'm just getting rid of the monitor.

Really hesitant on this working, but if it did, it'd be amazing. One of the reasons I'm hesitant to upgrade from my 15" MBP (price being the other!)

It didn't work. It's a great USB-C dock and other DisplayPort monitors work fine. But I couldn't get the 30" Cinema Display to work.

I just ordered this cable. I think It will work wonderfully with my set up.

I just finished my second test.

Its working!!!! I'm excited. Just what I was looking for. I think if I get the other cable I can charge it too.

And a mono price mini display port female coupler.

I'm super happy.

I have the Google usb-c to Display port, hooked to a Mini display port to Displayport Female adapter, to a mono price female coupler.

This method still works great on my maxed out MacBook Pro
