Comparison of MB and entry MBP
My comparison of MB and entry MBP at the USA store on 30 May 2010 gave different conclusions from another post I read; maybe the specs and/or prices changed?
After normalizing to 4 GB SDRAM & 250 GB HD, the entry MBP costs $100 more at $1199 vs. $1099, ($60 more at educ. store), for which you get the following that are not on the MB:
(1) Expandability to 8 GB SDRAM
(2) Firewire 800 port (For FW devices AND target disk mode)
(3) SD port
(4) Illuminated KB with ambient light sensor
(5) Aluminum case instead of polycarbonate
(6) Slightly more compactness (0.95 x 12.78 x 8.94 in. vs. 1.08 x 13.00 x 9.12 in.)
(7) Slightly less weight (4.5 lb. vs. 4.7 lb.)
Also, speculatively, higher resale value in a few years as a percentage of original price?
This will be worth the extra cost for quite a few people I think.
