I can't believe there are so many funny guys here... (regarding that ridiculous photo on previous page)

I like intel better. And I don't think Lenovo/IBM will continue to make PPC ANYMORE. The intels are faster than powerpc okay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...The idea, apparently, is that word of mouth is the best marketing, so they're going to concentrate on that exclusively.

I say that half sarcastically, because I can't see there being 3 different variations in the 'Pro' version, but only a single 13" in the non-pro... Unless the plan is to next release a 15" NON-Pro version... Let the speculation begin!
And I really can't believe I read every post in this thread today.![]()
ImAlwaysRight said:That's actually old information. That was the original plan, but with decreasing prices and Merom coming out soon (MacBook will stay with Yonah well into 2007, while MBP will go Merom), the MacBooks will start with core duo 1.66MHz on the low end and will all have dedicated Radeon graphics. And don't ask me where I got this updated information, because I am under oath not to tell.
SiliconAddict said:The problem you guys are missing is that unlike Windows the GPU plays a very central roll in the overall performance of OS X. It goes WELL beyond just gaming.
More and more of OS X's graphics subsystem has been moved onto the GPU over the years. Putting in a half ***** GPU into a system is going to hurt performance. Even more so with 10.5 when Apple finally turns on Quartz 2D Extreme.
PS- Graphics taken from http://arstechnica.com/reviews/os/macosx-10.4.ars/13 (Hosted on my FTP site as not to steal bandwidth. I highly recommend the read.)
PPS- You will also see where VRAM comes into play. This is why I opted for the 256 system. If they had a 512 I would have snatched that up instead.
Subiklim said:Few things wrong with your post. Leveno does not make PPC chips, and never will. They merely purchased IBM's computer division. There is no way in hell they could afford IBM.
Subiklim said:Secondly, IBM will continue to make PPC processors, as they sell HUGE amounts of them. Apple is a drop in the bucket.

This is so easy to mockup in Photoshop (as I demonstrated in my silly previous post) I have no idea why it would be considered to substantiate a rumor.
Did anyone else actually see the page live?

I did! It actually happened, it is not a rumor!!modernpixel said:Why would a breadcrumb trail to the MacBook be on the iPod page? But I expect to see iSights incorporated although I previously guessed they wouldn't be.

janstett said:This is true. IBM is a very large company (not as large as it used to be). Lenovo is the merger of Legend and IBM's Thinkpad/ThinkCentre operations.
Well, hold on. I don't know about making "huge" amounts of them. They use PPC processors in their AIX workstations and RS/6000 line. They use clusters of them in the AS/400 from what I hear, and I thought I had heard they also use clusters of PPC processors in their high end mainframes. They are starting to push embedded PPC (603) applications for things like NAS. But those are not consumer products and volume is low versus a consumer chip.
