I can't believe there are so many funny guys here... (regarding that ridiculous photo on previous page)

I need to get my post count up soon so I can sell my 12" PB when the 13.3" MacBook Pro's come out :) :D

I say that half sarcastically, because I can't see there being 3 different variations in the 'Pro' version, but only a single 13" in the non-pro... Unless the plan is to next release a 15" NON-Pro version... Let the speculation begin!

And I really can't believe I read every post in this thread today.

IBM is so over you don't want to be stuck with 2-4 hours of battery life do you?
I like intel better. And I don't think Lenovo/IBM will continue to make PPC ANYMORE. The intels are faster than powerpc okay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Relax dude. I was tryin' to make this threat more entertaining. :p You do have no sense of humor, do you?

Ok, this is it people. I've been talking to my sources all afternoon, and after a lot of "persuation", they let me into the secret elevator at Apple's R&D department where I was able to take this photograph:

...The idea, apparently, is that word of mouth is the best marketing, so they're going to concentrate on that exclusively.

Hilarious--peharri has shown that intentional comedy can succeed in a thread. I was beginning to wonder. Nice to see the rainbow Apple logo back. Retro.

Peharri does bring up a good point though, about there being no keynote or event around the rumored release. Seems a little strange, but maybe it's just a new way of doing things. I wouldn't rule it out, May would be a good time to release the iBook replacement.

You read the entire thread today? Wow. Congrats man. That must've been hours of fun, or at least minutes.

That's actually old information. That was the original plan, but with decreasing prices and Merom coming out soon (MacBook will stay with Yonah well into 2007, while MBP will go Merom), the MacBooks will start with core duo 1.66MHz on the low end and will all have dedicated Radeon graphics. And don't ask me where I got this updated information, because I am under oath not to tell.

I am starting to think that Apple has the worst employees of the world. All of them are saying what the next notebook would be like. Apple most surely paid them so little that they don't keep secrets.

I say this because I've read "I am under oath not to tell" like a zillion times.:D

The problem you guys are missing is that unlike Windows the GPU plays a very central roll in the overall performance of OS X. It goes WELL beyond just gaming.

More and more of OS X's graphics subsystem has been moved onto the GPU over the years. Putting in a half ***** GPU into a system is going to hurt performance. Even more so with 10.5 when Apple finally turns on Quartz 2D Extreme.

PS- Graphics taken from http://arstechnica.com/reviews/os/macosx-10.4.ars/13 (Hosted on my FTP site as not to steal bandwidth. I highly recommend the read.)

PPS- You will also see where VRAM comes into play. This is why I opted for the 256 system. If they had a 512 I would have snatched that up instead.

You wasted money on getting a 256MB graphics card to power your desktop? Oh boy! ;)

Why would a breadcrumb trail to the MacBook be on the iPod page? Furthermore, why would it be against white - the consumer computers - iMac and Mac Mini are against pale blue. This is so easy to mockup in Photoshop (as I demonstrated in my silly previous post) I have no idea why it would be considered to substantiate a rumor.

Did anyone else actually see the page live?

Few things wrong with your post. Leveno does not make PPC chips, and never will. They merely purchased IBM's computer division. There is no way in hell they could afford IBM.

This is true. IBM is a very large company (not as large as it used to be). Lenovo is the merger of Legend and IBM's Thinkpad/ThinkCentre operations.

Secondly, IBM will continue to make PPC processors, as they sell HUGE amounts of them. Apple is a drop in the bucket.

Well, hold on. I don't know about making "huge" amounts of them. They use PPC processors in their AIX workstations and RS/6000 line. They use clusters of them in the AS/400 from what I hear, and I thought I had heard they also use clusters of PPC processors in their high end mainframes. They are starting to push embedded PPC (603) applications for things like NAS. But those are not consumer products and volume is low versus a consumer chip.

The cell processor, used in the X-Box 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo Wii is derived from the PPC but is a specialized media chip not general purpose.

PPC on the desktop is dead. Get over it.

I'm gonna stick with the predictions that I made for Apple's April 1st (non)event.

But I expect to see iSights incorporated although I previously guessed they wouldn't be.

Have a look at my predictions here: http://www.davejeffery.com/article/apples-30-year-anniversary-announcements

I agree with your specifications, apart from the resolution. Apple seems to prefer 16x10 ratio, as opposed to 16x9. So I say the resolution will be 1280x800.

The cell processor is only being used in the PS3. The XBox 360 uses a Custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU with 3 symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each.

Nintendo has not released details about the hardware it is running other than that it is a chip from IBM and graphics from ATI. It's definitely not the cell though - the console is known to be far less powerful than the 360 or PS3. Nintendo is not focusing on graphics horsepower.

Yep is saw it this morning... I posted a thread link soon

OK I am being serious now for once:

On a trip, Wednesday, I just happened to be passing near one of the malls where Apple is going to open a new store in the next few days.

So I stopped to get a look at it, walked past it, just the usual plywood black front with an Apple logo.

Then I walked past above it on the second floor and THEY HAD NO ROOF ON IT !!!

I could see a bit of the windows from one of the walkways above !

I walked around all I could but I could only see the window to the right of the doors.

IT SAID something like: "What is a Intel chip doing inside my Mac ???"

THEN 6, 30 to 40 ish males in black turtlenecks walked into the space where I was looking !

They all stood there looking back at the windows, like they were admiring their work, LIKE IT WAS FINISHED !!!

One of the guys looked up and saw me and waved, just as I left.

That does NOT sound to me like they are pushing iBOOKs so if the announcement is NOW its quite the last minute decision
