If they will announce it on tuesday, is it going to be at E3, like they did with 17" Macbook Pro at NAB, or does it have nothing to do with E3 ? I hope they don't wait until E3 is over.

E3 is for gamers and gaming, I can't imagine Apple will be there. But you bring up a good point - announcing it during E3 would get it absolutely buried in the news. That'd be a bad PR move. Next week is going to be all about video games.

halo 3 vs macbook vs ps3 vs wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.....
for the front page of tech magazines next week.
not likely apple will jump in that bunch

Apple has already committed to being there...next to Intel...next to the media center where they hold press conferences. You have to read the whole thread if you want to know what's going on.

Introducing the Macbook:

Hope they got that disgruntled thermal paste applyin' employee under control.

why isn't this unconfirmed, anonymous source story on page 2.
It's obviously going to be true - all rumors lead to the macbook being announced, randomly as usual, on Tuesday. There can be no other day!!!!

I see...reading the whole thread would take weeks, unfortunatley, but I still think Apple's announcement of the MacBook (unless it has some spectacular new feature) is going to be a needle in a haystack compared to all of the fuss over Wii, the 360 and PS3.

Then again, if there isn't anything tremendously special about the MacBook - it might not be a bad time to slip it in there. Give Mac peeps something to coo about next week too.

Why would a breadcrumb trail to the MacBook be on the iPod page? Furthermore, why would it be against white - the consumer computers - iMac and Mac Mini are against pale blue. This is so easy to mockup in Photoshop (as I demonstrated in my silly previous post) I have no idea why it would be considered to substantiate a rumor.

Did anyone else actually see the page live?

I did too.

You can guarantee the only thing Apple will be pushing at the E3 show will be fully loaded 17" MPB's for the gamers. No way you get any Macbook announcement at this show. Would they show off the iBook at the gamers conference? No way. I agree, RHCP and 17" MBPs all over the place next week, along with a heavy dose of the new Mac ads.

God Bless Bootcamp - my MacBook Pro is a glorious portable gaming machine now.

I just got some inside information. Don't ask me where I got it, because i'm under oath not to tell.

The MacBooks are going to be extremely dissapointing to us. And by "Us" I mean, all the people that have been looking at rumors and such.

They will start at $1099, with a 1.5Ghz Core Solo.

All Models will have Integrated Graphics.

Who's your inside source? I have my own source that has a completely different story..so who's right?
NOONE NOONE KNOWS NONONE KNOWS NOTHING NOONE HAS A CLUE NOBODY KNOWS CORE SOLO NOPE DUO YES NOBODY NOONE KNOWS MONDAY PRESS CONFERENCE NOPE NONONE KNOWS TUESDAY HMMMM MAYBE YES NOPE MACPASTOR WRONG NOBODY KNOWS MACGEEK2005 WRONG NOPE

ALL THIS COMPLETE GUESING IS WRONG.
The displays for the window have nothing to do with the MacBook I am told.

Firstly, Isn't Quartz Extreme already enabled in Tiger.

And secondly, I think you went a little overboard when you opted for a 256mb ram gfx, displaying a desktop is hardly a difficult thing for most gfx, the effects in use doesn't really compare to those of a fully 3d rendered computer game. A little alpha blending isn't enough to make any Geforce 2 + card break a sweat.

Quartz 2D extreme is not enabled in Tiger and secondly you missed the entire point of my post in that VRAM is used as a buffer for what is going on screen. Think of VRAM as a 256MB of RAM. When it gets full it spills over to your virtual memory. In the case of the GPU virtual memory is RAM. Your main goal like RAM is to avoid that spillover as much as possible. True, but you know I just had a silly thought, what if we're missing something here. I mean we know that the iBooks are going to MacBooks and probably going to be released on Tuesday, but what about what we don't know. There could be a release of a new iPod with games that would coincide with release at E3. Maybe there is some kind of special relationship between the new MacBook and (as I'm speculating) new gaming iPod.

*ducks behind counter and puts on flame suit*

I don;t think we know anything about Tuesday,,Do we? It's all rumors at this point...OH i get it this is a rumor site.
