just a heads up, I believe the rumor maybe true. The IBOOK on my campus has dropped from the educational price of 1200 to 1000, 200 dollar drop. And I kept asking the sales people on campus for how long the product will remain, and she told me till they ran out... what does that spell out to you? Perhaps this maybe true. I SOOO hope it is.

http://www.eugenef.com

Well I am seeing further posts about May 9th, and a heads up from an apple store wont comment on wether they are releasing anything. Also since when does apple change prices? Well on my campus with education discount, you can get an Ibook the expensive one for 999.99.... i smell a rat....

Why would a breadcrumb trail to the MacBook be on the iPod page? Furthermore, why would it be against white - the consumer computers - iMac and Mac Mini are against pale blue. This is so easy to mockup in Photoshop (as I demonstrated in my silly previous post) I have no idea why it would be considered to substantiate a rumor.

Did anyone else actually see the page live?

Yes, i did.

Rich.

this would be so great to finally see something, but if this isnt it, i wont check any ****** rumor site anymore!
This is just crazy.......
What ever happend with the april 1st, will they ever do something for that milestone?

that's kindof lame of Apple, to "push" sales of a product that's about to become obsolete in 2 days.

What are you talking about?

Unlike previous rumors, I see extremely less people claiming that the rumor won't come true (I counted not more than 10 :D ), that's also a good sign :) I'm really close to believe this rumor.

The problem you guys are missing is that unlike Windows the GPU plays a very central roll in the overall performance of OS X. It goes WELL beyond just gaming.

More and more of OS X's graphics subsystem has been moved onto the GPU over the years. Putting in a half ***** GPU into a system is going to hurt performance. Even more so with 10.5 when Apple finally turns on Quartz 2D Extreme.

Nice theory...but you don't see the decreased performance in real world use. on the minis, pretty much everything runs nice and fast except for high end games. Performance of things like the finder and pretty much ANY 2d graphics on the box is indistinguishable from a machine with a high end graphics card.

Don't get confused on this, it's not like machines with integrated graphics have NO gpu, they just have one that isn't super fast for 3d and shares ram with the rest of the system.

Worst case, you might want to have more ram. But you really want that anyway. With any computer.

With the introduction of Bootcamp I thought it would be wise to make sure every Mac competes well amoungst their PC peer markets - and no seperate graphics card seems to hurt that for the lowest end...

On the lowest end, PC laptops pretty much all have integrated graphics in their stock configurations. I've seen dell laptops for $1500 and more that had integrated graphics.

It's amazing how many people here have sources at apple that have told them the real deal! And yet, the sources all seem to disagree... almost as if... nobody knows what they're talking about!

(my apologies to anyone who really does have a source, but how can anyone tell the truth from the lies with all these "confidential sources" popping up all of a sudden?)

No MacBook

My prediction as to why they would be releasing at E3. They are not releasing a MacBook this tuesday, people have assumed this because people are waiting for it.

What they are really introducing is .... a Gamer's iMac. 23" inch display, X1800 video card and Core Duo 2.33 Ghz, oh and did I mention it will come in iPod Black. Intel will be there to anounce their updated Core Duo to 2.33 Ghz and chip price reductions and will be benchmarking this new iMac against top of the line AMD machines to show how impresive the Core Duo really is.

All we know is there is a box of posters, no one know's what they are going to be advertising. A MacBook does not make sense to introduce at E3.

Is there ANY actual evidence that it will be on Tuesday?
Because for several MONTHS, one of the rumor cites has said that it would be released in a day or two, and it still hasn't happened yet.

In addition, would everyone please stop saying that there is going to be some huge technological advancement here. Need i remind you that thease are their ENTRY LEVEL laptops? You wont see much beyond an iSight or remote.

I KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON !!!

I have thought the case of Apple against Apple went VERY FAST which means open and shut AGAINST APPLE

On the 8th the verdict is supposed to be given.

Thus, the rumors are a vain attempt to keep Apple stock as HIGH AS POSSIBLE BEFORE THE CRASH

Perhaps its meant to sucker in as MANY MAC SUCKERS as possible before the CRASH !!!¡¡¡!!!

RHCP iPod

the e-mail that you get when you pre-order the RHCP album states that there is going to be an RHCP iPod. That's probably all anyannouncement this week will be.

Duff-Man says...this thread has degenerated into some of the worst attempts at humour that I have ever seen, even for this place.

It is good to see that some things do in fact never change - fake photos, lame jokes, all mixed in with the usual spec speculation....oh yeah!

Yeah, I think I'm going to watch some MadTV to clense my palate.

i think when the MacBook is actually released, we will have hyped it up soooo much that we will all be disappointed with whatever comes out. i believe they'll release something that's perfect for the everyday, run of the mill consumer/student/switcher...nothing insanely powerful or anything. that being said, i'm still looking forward to seeing what it looks like!

Aren't Tuesdays also the release dates for the music industry? It may have something to do with iTunes and new content for your iPod?
The music industry releases titles on Tuesday. Street dates are scheduled months ahead and marketing material is paid for and displayed far before that date; usually without a given date for display—unless it is Disney. This is not a bands release party.

The "slip-up" on the Apple site is making this almost worth believing. I do not think for a moment that there are no check and balances before a page goes live on such a popular site. If it is there then they wanted it to be there.

Are you serious? Show me one new product Apple has introduced in the last 5 years without a special event. The occasional speed bump, yes; major redesigns, no.

Here's one. The 17" macBook Pro was released without a media event. It just showed up on the website. So there..nya nya nya

Yes!!! My nephew's sister has an uncle, who knows a guy who's father overheard a rumor while riding the subway to work that...uh, sorry I forgot. Oh, wait...yes, there IS going to be another April 1st next year, unless we all get the bird flu. Then all bets are off!

It had a press conference release at NAB. Small, low-key event for a niche product that was an addition to a line that had a very big, high-profile launch event at MacWorld San Francisco.

I'll be happy to be proven wrong on this but I really think the new iBook will be getting a nice little special event for it's launch considering it's arguably Apple's most important Mac model.

Yeah, true, but next year's April 1st won't be Apple's 30th anniversary.
