hehe I'm also betting $100 that it's not gonna happen on may 9th. If I win, I'll get a high-end macbook instead of a low-end one.

13.3-inch TFT Display
1280x720 resolution

£760 inc VAT (Approx $1099)
15.4 TFT
CoreDuo 1.66Ghz
1GB RAM
80GB HDD
DVD-RW
Radeon X1400 128MB GPU
Wi-Fi/Bluetooth
Digicam built-in 1.3MP
Card Reader 5-in-1
Yes it is Acer and yes their notebooks have always been substantially better equipped than other PC manufacturers but I do not see why the new MacBook should not be able to hit the £699/$999 price tag at least with:
Core Duo 1.66GHz Processor
13.3" TFT
512MB DDR667 Memory
60GB HDD
CD-RW/DVD Combo
Intel GMA950 GPU
Airport/Bluetooth
iSight and FrontRow
The GMA would be a must-be for anyone wanting just a decent notebook with good battery life. This machine should hit if not beat the current iBook G4's 4.5-5hr bat. time.

macgeek2005 said:YES. Give me a 1.83Ghz/2GB Ram/120GB Hard Drive MacBook and i'll be happy.
That would probably cost around $1800, with the educational discount, which is just about my budget. PLEASE let it be so!!!

I guess they get some credit for spelling San Francisco right on this one though...

Typically I like to trade in my Mac Desktop around June for a notebook because I travel a lot in the summer. So long as the MacBook doesn't have integrated graphics, I'll probably be getting one. I'm hoping for a dual core processor and 13" screen as well, for around $1200. Hope I'm not dreaming!

I mean, it's not like Apple can "track" if a box has been opened earlier than on Tuesday.
