hehe I'm also betting $100 that it's not gonna happen on may 9th. If I win, I'll get a high-end macbook instead of a low-end one.

17 Inch Mac Book Pro

Are you serious? Show me one new product Apple has introduced in the last 5 years without a special event. The occasional speed bump, yes; major redesigns, no.

There was no event for the 17 inch Mac Book Pro I would consider that to be a pretty major new product. No redesign but still a major new item.

NAB was the launch pad for the 17" MacBook Pro

This is what we'll see on Tuesday.

13.3-inch TFT Display
1280x720 resolution

Am I the only one who doesn't buy this bit? A 16:9 aspect ratio wouldn't make any sense when practically *all* computer widescreen displays are 16:10. Old Powerbooks were 15:10 but that was fixed last autumn... The MacBook display will be 1280x768.

Don't get me wrong, I would love nothing better than there just being two aspect ratios - 4:3 and 16:9. But that's not how it is in reality...

I'd guess they'd be 1280x800 if they were indeed 13.3". Much like the Sony series of laptops

It's just another iPod event.

My old Summer 2001 iMac runs Windows 2000NT Pro via Virtual PC 5 in Mac OS 9.2.2.

... for that one .exe that I use from time to time: MicroSoft Streets & Trips.

All I need now is an inverter that can handle the iMac's 150 watts, so that I can use the iMac in the FreightLiner.

Current CoreDuo's and the new MB Specs

Just saw an Acer notebook:

£760 inc VAT (Approx $1099)

15.4” TFT
CoreDuo 1.66Ghz
1GB RAM
80GB HDD
DVD-RW
Radeon X1400 128MB GPU
Wi-Fi/Bluetooth
Digicam built-in 1.3MP
Card Reader 5-in-1

Yes it is Acer and yes their notebooks have always been substantially better equipped than other PC manufacturers but I do not see why the new MacBook should not be able to hit the £699/$999 price tag at least with:

Core Duo 1.66GHz Processor
13.3" TFT
512MB DDR667 Memory
60GB HDD
CD-RW/DVD Combo
Intel GMA950 GPU
Airport/Bluetooth
iSight and FrontRow

The GMA would be a must-be for anyone wanting just a decent notebook with good battery life. This machine should hit if not beat the current iBook G4's 4.5-5hr bat. time.

Regards

with those promising stats, it would also be nice to have a core solo ibook for $899 usd, and take on dell head to head

dell says they have five or six hundred dollar notebooks, but up the ram to half a gig, go from celeron to core solo, upgrade to windows professional, add anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-spyware, and a decent firewall software then you end up having an $899 notebook ;)

YES. Give me a 1.83Ghz/2GB Ram/120GB Hard Drive MacBook and i'll be happy.

That would probably cost around $1800, with the educational discount, which is just about my budget. PLEASE let it be so!!!

Let's see:
1400 (computer)
+ 300 (2 GB RAM)
+ 200 (120 GB HDD)
+ 200 (1.83 GHz)
=2100$.

2,1$k is not much for such an insanely good and portable computer, and yes, with edu. discount, it would perhpas be around $1800. I would probably go for 80 GB HDD (standard, I don't need more), and 2 GB RAM, so I won't have to upgrade it later on. I don't think they will make a possible 1.83 GHz upgrade on high-end model, since it will make the cheap MBP obsolete.

1400+300 for the RAM is $1700. I have a bedget of $2k, so it's fine by me. Perhaps I'll get AppleCare or a mighty mouse or new speakers, but definietly 2 gigs ram:D

Ok seriously when people make fake invitations why don't they bother to check if Moscone Center is booked for something else first? Like say, the Symantec Vision 2006 convention thats going on from 5/8/2006 to 5/11/2006 in Moscone West?

I guess they get some credit for spelling San Francisco right on this one though...

LOL....I also noticed that MacWorld Expo was already booked for 01/08/07 - 01/12/07. :D

Cnet News is now reporting on Tuesday as well.

BUT Think Secret has just posted an update, saying more confirmation of Tuesday's announcement, slight price increase, and black & white models.

First time chiming in on this thread. I'd be really happy if the MacBooks are released this tuesday. Typically I like to trade in my Mac Desktop around June for a notebook because I travel a lot in the summer. So long as the MacBook doesn't have integrated graphics, I'll probably be getting one. I'm hoping for a dual core processor and 13" screen as well, for around $1200. Hope I'm not dreaming!

you'll get it, but with integrated graphics, which, these days aren't so bad.

I can't believe no Apple Store owner has yet peeked into what's in these new boxes.

I mean, it's not like Apple can "track" if a box has been opened earlier than on Tuesday.

Think secret updated they're MacBook article. Now they say they will be coming in black and white configurations, be slightly thinner than previous ibooks, and cost slightly more than previous ibooks.

I'm sure such illicit box openings is where the rumor confirmations are coming from ;)

black and white

black and white would make perfect sense. just like the iPod. no need to get crazy with the colors, you have colorwarepc.com for that. i will take a look at the black one if they make one, but i think i will be sticking with the classic white.
