I think the last one could be very popular. I'm just very unsure about pricing/features. The second one is a better system but I'm not used to dealing with US$, do you think the extras are worth the extra US$300? It's too early/late for me to go looking at the store.
I don't want to offer the Core Solo on the cheaper model but if it's necessary to do so then so be it, what about the ComboDrive? I'd like to think Apple would be getting rid of the ComboDrive on it's laptops, there aren't many PC laptops worth their salt these days that can't burn DVDs and I'd like to think the MacBook would be able to offer such a feature even at it's lowest price, maybe a Core Solo, ComboDrive option at US$999 and bump the other two ones up $US100.
I dunno, it's 3:45am, I'm tired but not sleepy, been this way for weeks, not with anticipation or anything, just Uni stress getting to me. Hey, at least I should be wide awake if the store goes down tomorrow night.![]()

umm, i think he did say he would go PC if the problems continued...maccheeken said:Don't think he ever said he was going to a PC, though can anyone really blame him if he did? Chronic software issues (which I associate with PC's)may be a pain, but chronic hardware failures can be agony. My now 9-month peebook itself's on its third trip (in as many months) out to Apple service, and I've been told at the G-bar that while replacement/refund is and will always be out of the question, I'll at least have 2+ more years of Applecare to rely on--or 2+ more years of monthly downtimes.
Not that I've become some reformed devotee of the Cult of the White Apple--I still think Apple has a great OS and I'm really waiting for their next desktop--but I think Legacy's point is that one thing he didn't expect from his ibook (or me from my powerbook) were constant service interruptions well before the machine's first b-day, and that he's expecting the best and better in the upcoming Macbook. I too am pretty excited about the Macbook, believe it or not,if only to see what leaps forward Apple's engineers and designers have been able to make.
Though Legacy, if you're looking for something sturdier but just as portable, I have had several notebooks that have lasted me years (software issues notwithstanding, of course) from the PC realm. If I've ever sent one away for hardware service, I've never had to worry about it more than once every few years. But they'll also never havethe same sort of mystique either.
Anyway, what I hope to see from tomorrow's (?) Macbook? On the higher end, at least, I don't see why the processor can't go up to 2.16 mhz. And if Sony can fit an nvidia 7400 in a 13.3" form factor, I'm sure Apple can do it with the same or the x1400--unless of course it's education market-specific. And it's just bound to look real cool. As for shooting over the moon, I'd say 7200rpm hard drives.![]()

Funny why date is the 19th and not on a Monday or something.
Another note that doesn't support this but is interesting to say the least.
