MacMinute has a physical copy of the magazine in their hands.

how can you know arn, and if so how did they get it, and I would like some more proof. Everything you say is always legit, but I would like to know how they got the mag.

No offense, but I'm just a little wary

how can we be sure?

Well,

1) Leap of faith...

2) They had a poor quality scan of the cover posted on their website but pulled it when the TimeCanada link was found.

3) If you still aren't convinved - I guess just wait until tommorrow... (but it's real. 🙂 )

But Apple apparently gave the story to Time, which put the new iMac on its cover. MacMinute broke the story after obtaining a copy of the Time article. The issue went on sale at New York newsstands late Sunday

Yes, the page is gone

I do think Steve Jobs posed for that picture, that is the real new iMac and probably there will be no other big new release in the MWSF.

I think that someone inside TimeCanada is really in BIG trouble for releasing a history that was supposed to be issued on Jan14 (as the top of the site said).

Lets wait and see tomorrow. Jobs will be very Mad, that's for sure. Apple and Time probably had an agreement to not release the history before the MWSF and Apple will sue TimeCanada for not respecting that.

I guess I will have to buy a Palm Vx or something. No PDA will come. Not that I believed in that iWalk stuff.

Apple teasers?

Some reason I'm not getting the new teaser, just the same old "1 day...". Anyone else having trouble? I did see some broken picts of the new slogan though, then it changed back.

how can we be sure?

News magazines go to press Saturday night, get shipped sometime Sunday, and hit major airports by Sunday night in time for the Monday morning business travelers. I'm pretty sure they also get distributed in NY sometime late Sunday.

Timecanada.com

IMHO, it look as though the timecanada.com article getting yanked is more proof of the new iMac, especially since the site now points back to time.com. Also, on the $1800 price for the new iMac, I don't see why Apple would set a price point for it that high, it would cannibalize sales of the low end Power Macs, unless they dropped the $1699 price point for the low end Towers and started them out at $2199. Just a thought.

I like it.

I really like it. If I had only one computer, I guess I'd want something expandable and huge, but I own three (one in parts) and have another lent out. It's not a great "only" computer, but it looks like a nice addition to the network. You could own two of these, and it wouldn't feel like "oh, I own two computers, this desk is too crowded."

It certainly beats your standard tower case in appearance. It looks like a "modern" television. If there were TVs that looked like that, I'd want one. I'm sure this will do double-duty as a tv, for some people.

I hope it's quiet, and lacks a fan. I hate my computers that have noisy fans. Ugh. That whirring noise makes me yearn for an old 16 bit computer without a fan. I've only owned two computers with fans, and have tried hard to silence them 🙂

I'm glad it wasn't a PDA. That's not very interesting. I'm kind of bummed it wasn't a wireless screen/tablet thing. That would be pretty cool, despite the fact it would be pretty useless for most people.

What I'd really dig is if Apple would make a hardware "quicktime player". It'd be a little like the teensy vaio with the camera, but without the annoyance of an OS to manage. It would just play DVDs, record video and audio, and let you do some basic photoshopping and editing.

Agreed... they're going to have to bump the Pro macs... to sell this at $1799

Also, the story is dated Jan. 14th because it's in the Jan. 14th issue which hits the stands tonite (always one week ahead of the date). Jobs must have known in advance that the story would break tonite so I don't think he'll be too surprised or pissed. So I'm hopeful that this isn't the big "one more thing" announcement Jobs is springing on us.

what the heck

talk about one cool looking lamp. a lamp with a dvd burner. dang!

sad but true. This is the first line in Cnet's article on the new imac: The new iMac looks like a desk lamp. I'm afraid that's the way a lot of people will perceive the iMac. But maybe that's not the worst thing, for people to perceive this not as a computer but more as an appliance, as something to have around the house and do 'fun' things with. Could work. Or not.

What about this!!!

Skycorp(on apple's website) sent up a satellite to test the wireless web capabilities. In short they think with 500 plus satellites anyone in the world in anyplace will have wireless access.

Enter Earthlink(ELNK featured on apple's website as well). Go to YAHOO, finance and enter ELNK. Look up the article that mentions 750 "hotspots". ELNK is testing wireless access in specific "hot spots". The access is 200 times faster then 56k.

Enter Apple. Digital hub with wireless internet access provide by ELNK. You pull the thing out of the box, plug it in and your done.

anyone with me on this idea?

What do ya say ARN! Can it happen? If so buy as much ELNK and APPL call options you can.

appliance

I would like a wireless clothes iron that doubles as a printer. print on anything, no more problems with damp or crinkled paper.
