Hi all. I'm running the last public beta 7 on a late 2008 Macbook and unsure how to upgrade to the GM. I've been thinking of pulling the trigger on an early 2009 iMac 9.1 for the house and seen its 100% compatible with Sierra! Brilliant stuff

Macbook Pro 15 5,3 mid 2009.
Tested as much as I could and everythings is working just fine.

A huge thanks for everyone who helped me, especially dosdude1 for his hard work and for being such a nice person.

Here's a quick little app that uses the mas push technique. Just click OK and go.

Thank you for this, did exactly what I needed.

I have a MBP 5,5 (mid 2009) when I look at WIFI from the system report it says "Broadcom BCM43XX 1.0" If I install sierra will I lose my wifi? If I will is there another wifi card I can buy and install that will work?

If the device ID is (0x14e4, 0x8C), then the card isn't supported. Otherwise, it'll work just fine. And I know for a fact WiFi works on that model MacBook.

I have an unsupported MacbookPro 4,1 . Using dosdude1's awesome patch I am able to install Sierra but with no Wi-Fi support. Does anyone know of any USB Wifi Adapters or Dongles that support Sierra? Huge Thanks!

Is there any way to get WiFi for this card? Broadcom 4321 WLAN Aiport Extreme Card // (VEN_14E4&DEV_4328)

It says:

(0x14E4, 0x8D)

I don't know if that D makes a difference or not

I also have the Macbook Pro 4,1. I honestly know nothing about how the OS of a Mac works so is it possible for someone to explain why the WIFI is suddenly not supported, or why that can't be fixed or why a kext(after reading, I assume that's like drivers?) can't be taken from El Capitan or earlier?

I am receiving this error using the macOS Sierra Patcher

I've tried a couple of USB sticks but both getting same error.

I had the same error, when i tried to use the second volume on my usb stick. It worked with a single volume stick.

You can't use the El Capitan version of this kext because some kernel symbols it relies on are not present in Sierra's kernel.

I have Mac Pro 3.1 and I successfully installed Sierra!!
So.. Do I need to install macOS Sierra Software Update Patch Tool?
There is no final release "select update to patch" drop menu..??

Can someone please tell me if the Ambient Light Sensor patch is needed on a mid-2009 MBP? If not, how do I confirm that my ALS is working properly? Thank you

Hi all, still looking for an answer to this if anyone knows, thanks!

Forcing Trim to enable on 3rd Party SSD using Trimforce in terminal fixed my write speed issue in Sierra, so I have now cloned from Sierra Test Partition to my old EC Partition.

Have a fully functioning Sierra install on my MBP Mid 2009. Thanks very much again dosdude.

You have given me the excuse to take glass off my iMac and upgrade HDD and add SSD so it becomes a usable machine again rather than the place that all my storage drives connect to (and run ridiculously slowly from) on USB2 and FireWire.

Just installed Sierra on Mid-2009 MBP. Why did Apple not support computers that clearly can run the OS? They look like total money grubbing jerks.

Someone has already updated to see if it works normal?

The update has similar checks to the in-dev betas, so it wouldn't appear for anyone on an unsupported Mac as far as I'm aware.

Also notable, compatible upgrade builds are from 16A312a, 16A313a (Public Beta 7), 16A319, 16A320, 16A322, and 16A323 (Last GM/Official).

Is there no longer a Sierra Updates patcher from Dosdude working on the current builds? Can someone please list the methods for updating the OS going forward - I am on 16A323.

My update patch will be updated as necessary, or you can use foxlet's custom catalog URL.

Hey all! I just downloaded the Sierra OSX (public release) and I installed it just fine over the Gold Master I had installed last week over Public Beta 7. I have a late 2009 MacPro (MacPro 4,1) I had flashed in June (I think) to present as macPro 5,1 - and had upgraded the Bluetooth/Wifi card to the newer specs. No other tools installed or needed. I did upgraded the processor board, Ram and Video card for my own sake, but that was not needed to get it to Sierra.
Once the machine was presenting itself as a newer Mac, everything has gone swimmingly.
I even installed MacOS Server 5.2 a few minutes ago ...

Again, thanks SO much for the initial patch tool and all the support I have read here!
Its amazing to me to still be using my hot-rodded 2009 MacPro so many years later!
