Really? That's the wish list? A bunch of fluff? How about SMB that works properly? Or how about MacOS clients stop trying to get DNS resolution from a MacOS X server that's not configured to be the DNS server? How about a keychain that will actually remember web services (in Safari) authentication passwords (served up by a proxy server) when the user clicks "remember my password". To have that actually work would be great. Many, many more...

To have MacOS be coming up on version 10.13 and it still doesn't work right is really, really sad. MacOS X version 10.6 worked much better than what we currently have. Might be better off to revert back to the old code base and add the current fluff features to that.

'Hey Siri" would require that Apple (like microsoft) listen and record everything that you say around the computer. It's a huge security hole, and those transcripts can be requested by the NSA or data-mined for sale to 3rd parties. No thanks!

...how is that any different than on my iPhone or watch? Especially since my phone is on me faaaaar more than my Mac is. Why not just have it as an option... like how it is on the iPhone.

Options would be good. (i.e., Not a fan of Siri at this time. Siri's resource consumption far outweighs its usefulness.)
Game Center? Get back to work, you. ;)

There's no viable business model in selling a consumer operating system.

Micro. Soft. ;)

…Bugfixes for the problems that lock up my exposé… and force me to restart my mac multiple times a day.

…please please please

Bring on everything listed and can't wait for APFS !! :D:D hope it really give a noticeable speed boost to macOS like what it did to iOS 10.3. That was amazing...:):)
Actually, from tests it seem APFS makes things slower, at least on some iPhones (SE)

2-factor authentication with iPhone and / or Apple Watch.

This is different to the current auto login with a watch in that it requires a watch phone to be present in addition to a password (or fingerprint). Thus the wording 2-factor.

I know what I want, it's very simple. I want to be able to use iCloud Photo/Video Stream with a home NAS to push pictures and videos to my devices. That's it, for now.

Then there's a bug where I have to type my password twice when powering on or waking up from sleep. As if I'm running a virtual machine.

This sums up the new Apple perfectly, "Our way or the highway." Don't care for it one bit and for the first time in forever as a mac fanboy it seems like i'm more likely moving on. The arrogance level is just too !@#$@#$ high.
I certainly wouldn't want to move to Windows 10 S(pyware) though.
[doublepost=1496036970][/doublepost]
In my 4,1 MP, and my old 15'' MBP, I can't use Sierra... And there is nothing interesting to justify spending my money on.
So, dear Apple, maybe we have enough OS updates. Now give us some ''serious'' hardware for a change! Please?:(

Well, if it made things faster, then you wouldn't have buy a new machine every got-danged year.

"You're benchmarking it wrong!"

Dear Apple,

Seriously, if you're not going to encrypt my iCloud backup with two-factor authentication, just lose the OS bloat and make it snappier. Maybe iDiet -some sort of anti-bloatware utility.
iThin?

…have essentially left that market.

I don't know, man! The A/V and VFX crowd seems to be going back to Windows because of workstations like Boxx and the new HP stuff. NVIDIA and NUCs, etc. I hope Apple can pull their dongles out of the fire -I really do. The only way they can hang onto a share of the Pro market is by keeping up with Pro machines. That means paying engineers and not relying on beta-testers for golden beta masters. I mean, I've got beta access but I know that I've not the time nor the knack to be a beta-tester. So it makes me wonder... Who's ultimately making these OS decisions that are clogging up my RAM?

I was talking about the market of retail consumer operating systems, whereas you seem to be talking about hardware. I didn't say Windows is dead.

Personally, I'd like to see a better Finder for accessing files/folders. Maybe I'm corrupted from years of Windows use, but I got hooked on an alphabetical folder view that listed folders at the top, followed by files. I'd also like to see Finder windows adjust the icon/thumbnail layout when the Finder window is resized.

Pathfinder does all this, it's always been a better finder than Apples. I remember the tabs introduction was a big thing, it had been in Pathfinder for ages. My favourite things in Pathfinder: Dual Pane view (like a split window view) being able to put a single item in a a new folder by contextual menu, the current finder only lets you do that only if you have multiple files.

I'd like them to sort out iCloud drive so it actually works. I can right click to download a file. Why can't I do the same to upload. I want a particular file in the cloud, not taking space on my hard drive, if the cloud icon has no download arrow option I know that it's still on my hard drive. I just want to push it up to icloud (a service I'm paying for) without jumping through hoops to do so.

Shouldn't the wish list include fixing the long term bugs?? Or MR only cares about cosmetic features...
I feel like half of MR, including myself, complains violently that macOS isn't as stable as when it was Snow Leopard.

Can we wait more than a year between releases?
Yeah, I'm sick of updating. I used to just skip every other version until they started requiring the very latest macOS for Xcode.

perating systems have reached a mature level for features. There's not much left to add feature-wise other than tweaking existing features, which always annoys users. Unless there's a new revolutionary feature then the OS is just gonna continue to evolve things there already and consume more space.
I think desktop OSs have a long way to go when it comes to security, whether new features are needed or some change in the ecosystem needs to happen. Proper sandboxing just isn't implemented right, and too many apps rely on low-level system calls that are unchecked. And critical security bugs are patched using updates, but those updates risk breaking things, so people don't install them and get wrecked by things like WannaCry.

With iPhone OS, they got to start fresh and enforce proper sandboxing from the start, but I still don't think the update system works well for security patches.

Fix the green button bug; windows should be expanded to the maximum size possible without hiding NECESSARY access to the file menu and dock. For some reason the green button hides them. Pretty boneheaded by Apple.
Yeah, I hate full screen mode and never use it because of that. It also tends to lag or have weird GUI glitches.
[doublepost=1496048805][/doublepost]How come a proper built-in software package manager with a nice default repository isn't on this list? MacPorts is a pain, and HomeBrew is an even bigger pain. Like geez, I (and all devs) just want to "sudo apt-get install" (or similar commands) stuff like in all the other Unix and Linux variants.

You already can sort with folders at the top. Click the 'Advanced' tap in finder preferences, it's the bottom option.

Volume Control on DP/HDMI
Imho that ispt a feature i want, that is just one more place to set a volume wrong when connected to an externcal amp, let the output be a standard volume and control at last amp, but that is justmho

The only thing I wish for is more settings for the OS itself, because compared to other OS' macOS starts to feel like a (at least beautiful) toy. Just take a look at disk utility or apples own office apps. Instead of adding new settings and options, they remove them. It would be nice to adjust volume on HDMI/DP (Windows and Linux can do this), or to disable ambient light compensation when automatic brightness is enabled. Everyone knows that Time Capsule is dead, meanwhile Time Machine is one of the best backup solutions I've ever seen, so more settings for it would be appreciated again ( e.g. maximum backup size, the possibility of using any network share etc). I'm a huge fan of time machine, but with more settings, man this thing would rock!
More settings, or mpr settings thru thesettings app? IIRC there are plenty of settings avalable ( see sysctl etc)

Uhm...I guess your mileage may vary, because not every SE is the same (parts are sourced from different manufactors).
In my case it feels slighly slower, but I got used to it.

See, there's the problem: this seems to be the only existing actual benchmark comparison of HFS+ and APFS on an iPhone SE. That's exactly one datapoint. This does not qualify as significant proof, but is nothing more than anecdotal evidence.
