How important is it to update the OC BootLoader from 0.93 to 0.95? I have successfully installed Sonoma 14.1 with OCLP 1.1.0, OC 0.93 BootLoader on my iMac (Model 15,1). It's a clean install on a 2nd internal drive on my 2014 iMac - so far no issues. The other internal drive has Ventura 13.6.1 w/OCLP 1.1.0 working without any problems.

Ran into some odd issues on my Mac Pro 5,1 that now appear unrelated to the version of OCLP. I removed the RootPatch on Ventura in prep for an upgrade. The unpatched version is in a 2 second crash loop on the login screen. The other oddity is that that screen is running in the full U38DW18 resolution rather than the Retina mode it runs in normally until login. Error logs show that it's the BlueTooth Demon.
I unplugged the BLE 4.0 device I use normally with no change. I cannot remove the demon since it is on the sealed partition.
I have a Sonoma installation that works just fine with the same Bootloader. This system has been stable for months all the way back to Big Sur.
Reinstalling Ventura on another volume works fine, but the Migration Wizard fails on reboot after completing the migration of 660GB of data. Tried that twice. The system is unbootable after that and reverted to not containing any copied info (Applications and User data.)
There is some setting or corruption causing it. I cleared Caches and winnowed launch stuff loading prior login. I know if I could get it to the point of reinstalling the RootPatch it would likely be fine.
Does anbody have any ideas before I delete that volume and start fresh? I do not want to risk overwriting the current Sonoma 14.0 for the update and will likely set up another volume for 14.1. But migrating data manually is a PITA!

I initiated the OTA 14.1 update on my iMac 14,1 today but after the first restart the progress bar just stucks at about one third and no further progress. After about 10 minutes the screen just goes black and i can't wake it up using the keyboard. A hard reboot has not resulted in a changed behavior. The latest OCLP 1.1.0 was already installed before initiating the OTA update, so this should not be the issue in this case.
Has someone the same problem? Is there a way to fix it without reinstalling Sonoma? So it seems that OTA with OCLP is not as safe as widely described.
EDIT: I booted it into the Safe Mode and the update went through flawlessly. After that i had to boot it into the Safe Mode again and reapply the Post Install Patches. Now my iMac boots without any issues into 14.1.

Reboot once in Safe mode (press Shift + Return) and then reboot again and see if that fixes it—it did with my MM 7,1 (2014)
Thanks for replying! I built a new USB installer using 1.2.0 nightly, reinstalled okay but unfortunately system still hangs at login screen after entering password.
I’m willing to wipe and do a fresh install if necessary but would be nice to have some confirmation that will actually resolve issue before going through that hassle.
Perhaps the OCLP version (until yesterday maybe) does not recognise the latest 14.1 version number but does still install the 14.1 23B74 final
...and just a message for the OCLP developers: after wakeup from standby mode I still have missing window shadows in light mode and the issue with missing icons in menu bar (right now just the BT icon is missing and clicking on the empty space shows the BT settings menu). Thanks guys...

I have a USB Blu-ray Writer connected to my iMac, this question may surprise people here, but can I make a bootable DVD / BD with Open Core, or even just a standard installer, so I don't have to tie up a USB flash drive?
FWIW, my wife's M1 MBA did exactly that additional login, and it's a supported device not using Open Core....
Yes, it is possible to create a bootable OC CD/DVD. Look up the OpenCore on Mac Pro thread, on the first post there is a recipe published to create an OpenCore boot disk. Grab the OC generated from OCLP instead of the version maintained there. You will have to adjust the size if the disc image for the installer, of course.
Not sure if you want to go this route. A lot of manual work for no real advantage. We used this CD to have a boot option on Mac without an EFI flashed GPU (mainly cMP and some modular iMacs).
I was given the link on another thread to the Mist program on github and it makes bootable disc images, so those, can just be burned to disc, since they are ready to boot. I will look into the thread you suggested. I have no real need to do this, I was just curious since I'm old enough and have used Apple computers long enough to remember installing the OS first from floppies, and then CDs, DVDs, and finally USB, or the recovery partition, or Software Update.
Same thing happened with my MBA 7,2 and your edit update saved me so thanks for that. I agree that OCLP is not for the faint of heart. Shoutout to the devs for a fantastic product overall and I have it running on 3 unsupported systems.
So I made a little journey out of this. TL/DR Installed 14.1 to External Drive and everything is good.
Anyway, when Sonoma was first released and OCLP 1.0.0 came out, I did an upgrade install to my iMac 18,3 with a 2TB Fusion Drive, everything went well. The first week, I did experience the Mac not waking from overnight sleeps, but since then have not.
So Today I ordered an Acasis Thunderbolt enclosure (40Gb/s) and a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB (thanks Amazon same day delivery). I did a new install to the External and when that was complete, I used the data migration tool and went from my Fusion drive to the External. The machine now is operating beautifully with the new speed and the whole process was great. I just wiped my Fusion drive and really not sure what to do with it. This machine has never had a new OS loaded on it (except at the factory), it's always been upgrades.
Just wanted everyone to know that both my Upgrade installation path went well and so did a fresh install.
