There is news concerning the hibernation problem of my MacBookPro14,2 with Sonoma (now 14.1 (23B74)) and OCLP 1.1.0.
I usually open the MacBook Pro in the morning and can start where I left off the night before.
That was no longer possible recently because the computer behaved as if it was switched off. So it started as if it was normally turned on and I had to log in again. Nevertheless, all programs that were open the night before were still open.
After the over the air update to 14.1 I had also problems logging into my Apple ID (login not possible), so I decided to do a clean install on the "fresh" internal drive. Later I restored my data with the Migration Assistant.
The result is positive. Waking up the computer in the morning works perfectly and I can log in with my Apple ID again.
Let's hope it stays that way! 🙂
Okay, it looks like my joy was short-lived.
I had already posted in the last few days that the problem is possibly fixed. Unfortunately, there was again the hibernation problem with switching off and on again afterwards.
Well, this time, after deleting the drive and completely reinstalling the system, it also worked once.
But this afternoon, after taking a break for several hours and flipping the MacBook Pro open, the problem reappeared.
I do not know what else I could do from my side now.
The only thing I can think of is to install the system "clean" again and watch it without restoring my other data.
I want to emphasize that disabling hibernation (=0) is not a solution for me. I actually want to use the MacBook Pro as it is intended in this point.
Does anyone with more background knowledge than me perhaps have an idea what could be the cause of this strange malfunction? Will be grateful for any advice.
Here are the specifications again:
- MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports (14,2)
- 16 GB RAM, about 50 GB free on its 512 GB boot drive.
- macOS 14.1 (23B74)
- OpenCore Legacy Patcher 1.1.0
Thanks for your attention!
