I thought I give the old battery a try. It is also from 2013, 480 cycles, but still good enough for working with the MBP11,1 during a 3-hr train ride.
A replacement battery isn‘t expensive and also not much work to install, just the old one is still good enough…

In addition, have a look at the system report. Check power/battery, you can find maximum capacity and current capacity, not only cycles. If the current capacity is down to 20%, it’s probably time to order a replacement.

Thanks, yes -it is still at 82% residual capacity. The previous owner of the machine must have been good to it! Or is it just Apple quality.

I was finally able to solve the problem by following the steps in the video from Jessie's Flying channel


I added the Terminal commands shown in the video to mount the MacOS drive, and installed the KDK for version 14.1.1. and I was able to boot Sonoma and update it to version 14.1.1.

My Mac is a Mac Pro 2013 trashcan and my keyboard is a windows keyboard.

Thank you for this: perfect. I had the same login boot loop putting 14.2b3 on OCLP 1.2.1 and this got me, via Safe mode which was also necessary, back in without having to go the new-Volume-with-Catalina bootstrap route, and up to the nightly build of 1.3.0. I had been traveling and assumed after the 14.1 issues kinks would have been worked out, especially on a rev release. Always tempted to say lesson learned but it's not my daily driver and the (script kiddie level, tbh) problem-solving and learning at least superficially about the mechanics is satisfying.

As noted by amaze1499 14.2b4 now works.

macOS 14.1.2 (23B92) with KDK_14.1.2_23B92.pkg works like a charm with newest 1.3.0n on MP5,1 | RX580 | 990 Pro NVMe - big hug to the OCLP Dev - Team as always ;-) 😍 (MacMini's, iMacs and MBP's 11,X 12,X also OTA from 14.1.1 to 14.1.2 as expected) Great Work OCLP Dev Team love it!

Hello to all,

iMac 13,2
Running Sonoma 14.2.beta4. Downloaded OTA and installed without issues, subsequently patched with OCLP 1.3.0.n (11.26.23).

No major issues noted other than menu bar icons for Siri, Central Control, and Bluetooth “disappear” after extended (overnight) sleep period. All “missing-icon” related applications function without issues. It’s a minor problem that has existed through couple of reiterations of the Mac OS. Restarting the dock via terminal command “Killall Dock” (as already reported by others) restores all missing menu bar icons on the right side of the screen.
No issues with WiFi or Bluetooth.

Latest “Console Crash Report” only listed VTDecoderXPCService related “wake-ups” as a problem (not a CPU overload); it referenced Firefox Developer edition as the source (embedded media(?)). Quitting Firefox resolved this minor annoyance.

Photos application functions without issues, however, I have not tried to import photos from iPhone.

MacBook Pro 5,2

Installed Sonoma 14.2 beta4 OTA over beta3 variant and patched with OCLP 1.3.0n. After OS was installed, and patched, there were problems with application launches and finder; resetting the NVRAM resolved those issues.

Great work by the developers.

would be great to get some info about your machine and software versions. You never had sleep mode issues? Not even with previous versions?
 
MacBook Pro Retina Mid-2012 (10,1); 14.2 beta 4 23C5055b, using OCLP 1.3.0 (Nightly) is my current setup; (it's in my signature)

After installing OCLP 1.3.0 (Nightly), I upgraded to 14.2 beta 4 from 14.1.1 that had been using OCLP 1.2.1. I did notice with 14.1.1 and earlier (and OCLP 1.2.1) that sometimes I had kernel panics when I tried to wake the computer if it was asleep overnight. Other times, say after sleeping a 30 minutes, it would wake with no problems.

thank you...hope dies last...but it might also be connected to the fact that I use FileVault...will see what happens with the next updates...
 
As Dortania published a new KDK package 14.1.2 today shortly after MacOS 14.1.2 was released, I wonder if they will publish OCLP 1.3.0 now as well or if they need to adapt it to today's update first which might have caught them by surprise while they were focusing on MacOS 14.2 already...were there ever published detailed installation instructions for the OCLP nightly versions in this thread? I could not find anything but may want to try OCLP 1.3.0n on my test OS.

I've suspected that FileVault may explain some of the differences we're observing in user experiences with OCLP (in addition to different Mac models). I don't use FileVault with my MBP6,2 (just a toy to play with OCLP) but may need to experiment with it.
