Maybe try in Recovery Mode the following, open Terminal and run csrutil disable.

Recovery has not worked for me for some time - even after a complete reinstallation.

If I remember correctly, it last worked with one of the Ventura versions (13.2.1🤔) - but the very latest Ventura versions and all Sonoma versions no longer work❗️
I think I have also read that this is a general problem at the moment. Maybe someone can shed some light on this!

Hey all. I updated OCLP on my MacBook Air 6,2 to 1.3.0, updated the EFI partition, installed the root patches, then updated to macOS 14.2. Since doing so it just hangs halfway through the progress bar after logging in. I tried to boot with shift+enter but it does not appear to go into Safe Mode as expected. Can anybody offer a suggestion?

My understanding (and usage) of safe mode is to power off, hold shift and power on. Keep shift pressed until you get to the user login prompt.

Whatever the previous macOS release was. 14.1.whatever. It was current. OCLP was whatever was just released before 1.3.0. Let me try your safe mode suggestion. I was trying to hit shift+enter at the OCLP boot picker, but let me try it with shift held from a cold boot.

Just checked my other Mac. 14.1.1 and 1.2.1 would've been the previous versions.

Been using OCLP since macOS 12 released. Normally I boot into safe mode, reapply root patches, and this problem is fixed. I just can't seem to get into safe mode now.

I have now tested sleep mode again after update to MacOS 14.2 / OCLP 1.3.0. and I'm happy to announce that this seem to work now without the known glitches...

Update:
After some days we had a blackout here and the machine was shut down the rough way. Unfortunately now the known sleep mode issues are back. I cannot confirm 100% that this was caused by the uncontrolled shutdown or whether it has another reason.

I see. Yes, had the same thing here for a while with 14.1.1 release with OCLP 1.2.1 (IIRC). I never found out why safe mode suddenly started working again with 14.2. So my problem was the inverse of yours. I did do a clean install at a couple of points but 14.2 + 1.3.0 was when it started working again. Very strange.

For a while I was thinking it might have been battery related, having found a few random suggestions to that effect on the web. I really should get a new battery in the rMBP10,1 anyway, it'll be the third in 11 years.

It may be this turns out to be an unresolvable issue.

But, I still have a couple of thoughts.

Since you have two systems, one with the issue and one without, what do you see in the console log immediately after launching Parallels? Any errors or different entries on the MBP than the iMac?

If nothing obviously different after launching Parallels, any difference in the logs after launching your VM?

Finally, since according to Parallels they depend on the Mac OS for the video switching setting, I wonder what would happen if you set the MBP to use the discrete video card only before launching Parallels?

Thank you for your effort. I have now tried to force the MBP to use only discrete GPU as well as only onboard GPU. In both cases ran the command in terminal rebooted and started Parallels and Windows 11. In both cases no luck.
I tried to look in the logs for the 2 Mac´s. Starting up Parallels showed the same succesfull start and no difference I could see. Starting the VM was more tricky, but no obvious failures. But it is a lot of lines I do not understand. Again Thanks for assisting.

I asked to review your config.plist, because after helping a few people with their installations, I find that reviewing the config.plist is the best way to confirm the OCLP options that users selected in the OCLP GUI. Your config looks good, so I don't have any recommended changes.

When moving from one OCLP v. to another and/or updating macOS, a NVRAM reset is advised either from within OCLP or the hard-wired KB three-gong method.

It was fine for a week, clocked the mouse turn on the screen and had the problem listed above. I rebooted and same problem..rebooted again with same result. I reinstalled root patches and all is good again. We’ll see for how long though. It’s weird because all was good for a week with no additions, downloads,etc.

Is there a certain amount of time before this happens on average? I updated my 2012 last week and it seems OK but I haven't had the time to test it as much as I would like but so far, no major issues.

VMware Fusion Player 13.5 does not work as others have mentioned unless there's something I missed regarding that.

My mid-2012 13" MBP (which essentially has identical innards to your Mac mini; Ivy Bridge chipset etc.) has been exhibiting the exact same behaviour since I moved from Ventura to Sonoma.

I did wonder if perhaps old faithful was starting to suffer hardware problems, but have managed to rule that out with diagnostics, and also by the observable fact that booting from my Catalina external HD (or even - yeuch - my Windows partition) makes the stability problems instantly disappear. Like you, Ventura (along with Monterey and Big Sur before it) was always totally fine for me.

I updated to 14.2 with OCLP 1.3.0. a couple of days ago and there seems to be an improvement in stability so far, but haven't really used it enough to reliably tell for sure. I see now that 14.2.1 has literally just been released! Yikes! Might wait that one out for a while if 14.2 stabilises things... If not, I figure I have nothing to lose by updating again. I'll also try an NVRAM reset (thanks for the reminder on that 'K Two'!)

I've just accepted this situation as a reality of having an unsupported setup, and if my OCLP luck has run out at this point then so be it. I had a good run!
