I bought my Macbook in November 2024, and it says it was manufactured in February 2025!

I had the logic board replaced in April 2025 under warranty, so it's showing the logic board's manufactured date, which makes sense I suppose.

Okay, I'm dealing with it by just setting the default folder color to blue (which is not the default blue color, but rather a darker one). That way, it looks good both in light and dark mode.

The other alternative was using grey for folders, which I still haven't discarded.

Or it's simply a bug!

Or Apple changed it somehow. Instead of using the "old" date it uses now the most current date.

I remember when back in the day your logic board got exchanged the employees at Apple store flashed the firmware so that your "former" information went its way to the new one. Including the serial number.

I know this well because someone wrote that he noticed that in "About this Mac" no serial number was shown after the logic board got replaced.

I honestly don’t get why things like progress bars, checkboxes confirmation buttons, etc. don’t have a Liquid Glass effect.

Looks like we’re actually getting some of what Aqua used to offer back for those flat elements. Hopefully we’ll start seeing it in more places!

Looks like we’re actually getting some of what Aqua used to offer back for those flat elements. Hopefully we’ll start seeing it in more places!

Wait wait… this wasn’t on Tahoe? Then, GG is a step further towards Aqua interface… and you know what? I like it! It is subtle and elegant. Although I’m not sure I would like Liquid Glass scrolling bars or other elements. The key is in the subtlety.

Those were the best days of my life.

Seriously, last night I was thinking about my pre-Apple years. I was at a plant working third shift completely alone, wandering the place between my hourly machine checks I had to do (early 2000s pre cell phone time killing). There was a Mac in one of the rooms and I still remember the heart icon for favorites in the Finder toolbar. I got a PowerBook with 10.2 during that time, so it is hard to pin down the exact time the graphics rooms with the PowerMacs in that plant showing the Cosmos Screen Saver were something special.

I would pay an Apple subscription to have a macOS theme pack that made my devices look like the mid 2000s.

Yeah, I feel you. For me the mid 2000s were also good times and inevitably, this things make us remember…

It's nice to see some more character and life being added back in to the OS.

Not just you. I wanted to post the same issue. Without colour, the buttons definitely look oval.

Edited to add: While I like the look of the new buttons, they still don’t have the glassy charm of Snow Leopard’s buttons. But as Luftkopf said, a step in the right direction.

This is not a step forward. It is a return to the past.
The past cannot be brought back to life. Attempting to step back into that time or to revive relationships or revisit places that have outlived their purpose leads only to disappointment. Time moves only forward, and the conditions of the past no longer exist.
