Checking the syslog, the "an error" that occurs appears to be:

/System/Library/CoreServices/Software Update.app/Contents/Resources/SoftwareUpdateConfigData, error = 2: No such file or directory

I've been saying this for years, they need to release the software by region at the time the date arrives here in Australia it was 5 am Friday 13th lol (probably the reason this is happening haha) when it got released but at midnight on the 12th would have been fine to release to the Asia pacific region then by the time the rest of the world gets to that release date half the workload on the servers would be already done and the software is free its not like they have to worry about people pirating the software

I wish Apple would be a little more user friendly with this stuff. Instead of "An error occurred while installing the selected updates (I should note, it's NOT an update, it's an upgrade), it'll simply tell you that a problem is with Apple. "An error occurred" is the same thing as simply saying "Error," and that says nothing.

We have to do a search online and go to a 3rd party website to find something about Apple. Wow!

Looks like issue is now fixed 👀

I agree what we have seen is a big problem. That still doesn’t mean Apple is to blame. We need to wait for the facts before jabbing Apple with user pitch forks.
It's Apple's fault. If they're depending on a service and haven't take proper precautions, they're at fault. This isn't an individual making a mistake; it's a two trillion dollar company that's failing its users

Pathetic.

Netflix, etc, can handle the load when a new movie or TV series is dropped. You'd think Apple would've figured this out by now.
Netflix never had outages?

But you thought you'd invoke two tech giants in the same post, and condescend to one of them… From the top of what great success? The success of sitting on your posterior and awaiting 12 gigabytes worth a free update?

I'm glad the adjective ‘pathetic’ is already in your vocabulary. Now, go in front of a mirror.
