Same here. It was downloading fine up until it reached 1.56GB and then froze. Each subsequent attempt results in "An error occurred while installing the selected updates." :confused:

Seeing all the trouble Big Sur causes, I'd better wait a couple of days before updating.
 
Once again Apple gets caught with their pants down opening the door on a high-demand event.

And, of course, there's no standalone downloadable installer. Because clearly no one in the entire goddamn universe owns more than one mac.
 
What does this mean? Managed externally?

I think I might want to wait for a while to try again. Perhaps they will have fixed something after the weekend.
 
I'm expecting a delivery of an iPhone 12 - Went to check my account on the Apple website (Store section) -- Constantly receiving "Gateway Timeout"
Not gonna be good if I'm doing an iCloud restore and their servers are being flakey.

You should be able to just turn off your WiFi, launch the apps you need, and then reconnect (silly, I know, but it should work).

That's exactly how it works for me. I just launched everything I needed and reconnected online. No issues.
