How do I get the developers release? They will get it within an hour.

I don't wanna wait until next month until the public beta drops.

The Tomb Raider demo was the most impressive, especially if that was an iPad SOC (A12Z) with 16GB of RAM. I bet active cooling helped it run at higher sustained clocks. I can’t wait to read more on whatever Rosetta 2 is doing. I do think this is why 32bit support ended though, just gearing up for MacOS 11.

Ugh. The iOSification of MacOS is complete.

Also, strange that they didn't share any benchmarks comparing their chip with Intel chips.
Probably because the Developer Transition kit is only based on an A12Z-- which can't compete with a Xeon W.

(The previous Developer Transition kit was based on a 3.6 Ghz Pentium 4-- not the Core Solo which would come later)

Well they left version 10 behind on a low note (Just upgraded to Catalina and it's thoroughly underwhelming, new functionality that I don't want, old functionality removed and just barely out of bugginess)
This. Mac OS X should have been left with Mojave. Aside from Sidecar, Catalina brought nothing useful and served to only kill off old apps for their eventual transition. Catalina will go down as the worst update in MacOS history, eclipsed only by Mac OS 10.0.

With Catalina still being the new MacOS "Vista" I cannot not feel excited about a new MacOS version without addressing Catalina's problems first.
Lots of iGag features but I bet you still can't resume a failed file transfer of multiple files in the Finder.
You bet old problems are there but hey!!! You have same as before but with rounded corners, this means new bugs as it means always, just wait for 11.0.9 to fix all them and you will save!

Well say goodbye to bootcamp and windows 10 applications. So you need to buy a new Xbox or PS5 this fall if you are a gamer. But I can see the advantage of now having more available applications from the App Store so the Mac will have a much larger application base now.
Actually, imo with the base Ax Mac having such powerful GPU (let's assume it's at least the A12Z level), and same platform as iOS, I think we will see a new era of gaming on Macs. The issue with Macs right now is the small userbase and the fact that most Macs comes with the crappy intel integrated graphics. This transition will add the mac userbase to the already large iOS userbase in terms of gaming, and much easier for developers to target both.

Will Catalina be the last macOS my 2013 iMac be able to run? Hopefully I can get at least one more year of updated macOS out of this machine before getting a new one with the new Apple chip.

He didn’t say that. He just said Intel Macs for 2 years... so likely Big Sur is the last Intel Mac OS
He said, you can buy macintel now but say good bye to them in few years, as before, so there are 2 years of incertidumbre again.
Just lets see how rossetta works and when are acailable mac ARM as I need a new machine and of course it won’t be a macintel
The G5 was the worst purchase I’ve ever done in my live.
I’m just sorry for the latest macintels’s customers

The other “big” question: will the next major macOS version be 12 instead of 11.1? Basically switching to an iOS version naming scheme.
