Whether its iOS or MacOS, Apple customers are in a perpetual state of upgrades. These frequent but empty, patch-happy, loopy-named releases are a total nag.

Just take your time, make it feature rich, and test it good and stop bugging me or pay me to be a tester, instead of me paying for your product.

We're being too hard on Tim and Company,
after all they're just human beings like you and me,
I mean it's not like they're charging us an arm and a leg for this stuff...

oh wait...they are.
um, never mind...

State of computing right now.

Apple: no idea what they’re doing whatsoever, mostly concerned with phones
Microsoft: flakey version upgrades that take half a day, if they work, every 6 months
Linux: 10-15 years behind everyone else
Google / ChromeOS: could be yanked from under you or radically changed at any moment as the norm for Google. Wants to
Monitor and control your entire life.

A mess....

I'm not sure I'd like to work in iOS exclusively, but I do agree (despite what Apple insists) that a convergence of the two operating systems would be more practical in many ways. I think Windows 10 proved that this is possible with Windows 10.

It's definitely possible and since iOS is where the money is, I fully expect Apple to be working on this.

Not saying those examples aren't real, just that they aren't as common as the poster made it out to be.

I'm sorry but thats just what an apologist would have you believe. ALL those bug where/are huge.. if MS or Android would have done that it would have been complete internet 'meltdown' [pun intended]..

Okay. I hadn’t heard of half of them. I suppose I’m the only person that hasn’t had those issues. I must just be lucky.

THIS WILL BE THE END OF THE WORLD!

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO APPLE LATELY!? IF SOMEONE HAD ACCESS TO MY MACHINE THEY COULD CHANGE A COUPLE FAIRLY MEANINGLESS APP STORE PREFERENCES!!!!
But one would hope that after last password fiasco they will test other password dialogs too. I guess they tested only for empty passwords, nobody expected such sophisticated random password attack.

I might be wrong, but I really don't remember having to wake up every day in the late 90's or early 2000s with new security flaws and patches (except for the horrible horrible Win98).

Updates and upgrades used to be a good thing, now they should call them "new features and new issues" , the cycle doesn't seem to end.

Flash forward to WWDC 2018...Tim Cook: "People are loving High Sierra and are saying it's the greatest release of macOS ever!"

One more reason I chose to leave macOS in 2017. iOS is a much better platform for me moving forward. Has everything I need and a bright future ahead. We need a ground up rework of macOS - based on iOS.

No. Completely baseless argument and irrelevant to everyone except you.

Maybe for you, but I am sure there are others that agree with me. It's a forum full of personal opinions, it's all baseless. Yours no more important/credible than mine.

Completely true about the opinion side of things, but as shown and documented iOS is many times worse in terms of the number of issues that has befallen it on the latest release. So by that measure its "factually" worse, that's not an opinion, bur rather a measurable metric regardless of preference.

Why are you even trying to justify it? They’re two different operating systems targeted at completely different use cases and hardware. You can’t do scientific computing on iOS nor can you have the same touch experience on Mac. Nor should you. So yes, it is baseless and yes that’s all it is, your opinion. Not fact. Irrelevant.
